1 Sima na yango, bato ya Moabi mpe ya Amoni elongo na ndambo ya bato ya Maoni bayaki kobundisa Jozafati.
Then, after this, the Moabites and Ammonites, as well as some of the Meunites, came to attack Jehoshaphat.
2 Bongo sango ekomaki na matoyi ya Jozafati na maloba oyo: « Mampinga minene ezali koya kobundisa yo longwa na Siri mpe na ngambo mosusu ya ebale monene; esili kokoma na Atsatsoni-Tamari oyo babengaka Eyini-Gedi. »
Some people came and told Jehoshaphat, “A large army is coming to fight you from Edom, from the other side of the Dead Sea. They have already reached Hazazon-tamar,” (otherwise called En-gedi).
3 Jozafati abangaki makasi; azwaki mokano ya kotuna toli ya Yawe mpe akataki ete mokili mobimba ya Yuda ekila bilei.
Jehoshaphat was afraid, and went to ask the Lord what to do. He also ordered everyone throughout Judah to fast.
4 Bato ya Yuda oyo bawutaki na bingumba nyonso ya Yuda basanganaki mpo na koluka Yawe.
So the people of Judah gathered in Jerusalem to pray to the Lord—in fact, they came from all the towns of Judah to commit themselves to him.
5 Jozafati atelemaki kati na lisanga ya Yuda mpe ya Yelusalemi, kati na Tempelo ya Yawe, liboso ya lopango ya sika.
Jehoshaphat stood before the assembled people of Judah and Jerusalem at the Temple, in front of the new courtyard,
6 Asambelaki: « Oh Yawe, Nzambe ya bakoko na biso! Ezali Yo te Nzambe oyo azali kati na likolo? Ezali Yo te oyo okonzaka bikolo nyonso ya mokili? Nguya mpe makasi ezali kati na loboko na Yo, mpe moko te akoki kotelemela Yo!
and said, “Lord, God of our forefathers, aren't you the God of heaven? Don't you rule over all earthly kingdoms? You possess strength and power, and no one can stand against you!
7 Oh Nzambe na biso, ezali Yo te oyo obenganaki bavandi ya mokili oyo liboso ya Isalaele, bato na Yo, mpo na kopesa yango mpo na libela epai ya bakitani ya Abrayami, molingami na Yo?
Our God, didn't you drive out before your people Israel those who living in this land? Didn't you give this land to the descendants of your friend Abraham forever?
8 Bavandaki mpe na mokili yango, batongaki awa Esika ya bule mpo na Yo, mpo na Kombo na Yo, na koloba:
They are living in the land and have built a Temple for you here to honor you, saying,
9 ‹ Soki mabe moko ekomeli biso: bitumba, etumbu, bokono to nzala makasi, tokoya kotelema liboso ya Tempelo oyo mpe liboso na Yo, pamba te Kombo na Yo ezali kati na Tempelo oyo; mpe kati na pasi na biso, tokoganga epai na Yo; bongo Yo, okoyoka, okoyanola mpe okobikisa biso! ›
‘If disaster strikes us, whether it's invasion or judgment, disease or famine, we will stand in front of this Temple and before you, for this Temple is yours. We will cry out to you to help us in our suffering, and you will hear us and save us.’
10 Sik’oyo, tala bato ya Amoni, ya Moabi mpe bavandi ya etuka ya bangomba Seiri, ba-oyo na tina na bango, tango bana ya Isalaele babimaki na Ejipito, opekisaki bana ya Isalaele kobotola mokili na bango; mpe mpo na yango, balekaki pembeni-pembeni ya mokili na bango mpe babomaki bango te!
Look, here come the armies of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, those very countries you did not let Israel invade when they came out of Egypt. Israel left them alone and did not destroy them.
11 Tala lolenge nini bazali kofuta biso: bayei kobundisa mpe kobengana biso na mabele oyo opesaki biso lokola libula!
See how they're rewarding us, coming to steal the land you gave us to possess forever!
12 Oh Nzambe na biso, okosambisa bango te? Pamba te tozali na makasi te ya kotelemela mampinga minene oyo ezali koya kobundisa biso, mpe toyebi te tosala nini! Miso na biso ezali kotalela kaka Yo. »
Our God, won't you punish them, because we don't have the power to confront such a great army that is marching against us? We don't know what to do. We're looking to you for help.”
13 Bato nyonso ya Yuda elongo na mabota nyonso, basi mpe bana na bango, batelemaki liboso ya Yawe.
All the men of Judah stood before the Lord, together with their wives and children and babies.
14 Bongo Molimo na Yawe akitelaki, kati na lisanga, Yaazieli, mwana mobali ya Zakari, mwana ya mobali ya Benaya, mwana mobali ya Yeyeli mpe mwana mobali ya Matania, Molevi mpe moko kati na bakitani ya Azafi.
Then the Spirit of the Lord came over Jahaziel while he was standing there in the assembly. He was the son of Zechariah, the son of Benaiah, the son of Jeiel, the son of Mattaniah, a Levite from the descendants of Asaph.
15 Yaazieli alobaki: « Bino bavandi nyonso ya Yuda mpe ya Yelusalemi, mpe yo mokonzi Jozafati, boyoka! Tala makambo oyo Yawe azali koloba na bino: ‹ Bobanga te mpe bolenga te liboso ya mampinga minene oyo, pamba te bitumba ezali ya bino te kasi ezali ya Nzambe.
He said, “Listen, everyone from Judah, people of Jerusalem, and King Jehoshaphat. This is what the Lord has to say to you: Don't be afraid or discouraged because of this large army. This isn't your battle—it's God's!
16 Lobi, bokende kobundisa bango. Bakomata ngomba Atsize, mpe bino bokokutana na bango na suka ya lubwaku, liboso ya esobe ya Yerueli.
Tomorrow march down to face them. You will see them coming up the pass at Ziz—you'll find them at the end of the valley in front of the desert of Jeruel.
17 Bokobunda bitumba ata moke te: bomibongisa kaka na bisika na bino, botelema mpe botala elonga oyo Yawe akopesa bino. Bino bato ya Yuda mpe ya Yelusalemi, bobanga te mpe bolenga te! Lobi, bokende kokutana na bango; mpe Yawe akozala elongo na bino! › »
But you do not need to fight this battle. Just stand still and watch the Lord's victory. He is with you, Judah and Jerusalem! Don't be afraid or discouraged! March down to face them, for the Lord is with you!”
18 Jozafati agumbamaki elongi kino na mabele, mpe bato nyonso ya Yuda mpe ya Yelusalemi bafukamaki mpo na kogumbamela Yawe.
Jehoshaphat bowed down with his face to the ground, and all the people of Judah and Jerusalem fell to the ground before the Lord, worshiping him.
19 Balevi kati na bato ya Keati mpe ya Kore batelemaki mpo na kokumisa Yawe, Nzambe ya Isalaele, na mongongo makasi.
Then the Levites from the Kohathites and Korahites stood to praise the Lord, the God of Israel, shouting loudly.
20 Na tongo-tongo ya mokolo oyo elandaki, bakendeki na esobe ya Tekoa. Na tango ya kokende, Jozafati atelemaki mpe alobaki: « Bino, bato ya Yuda mpe bavandi ya Yelusalemi, boyoka ngai! Botia elikya na Yawe, Nzambe na bino, mpe bokolendisama! Bondimela basakoli na Ye, mpe bokolonga! »
They got up early the next morning and went to the desert of Tekoa. As they left, Jehoshaphat stood up and said, “Listen to me, people of Judah and Jerusalem. Trust in the Lord your God, and you will be vindicated; trust in his prophets, and you will be successful.”
21 Sima na ye kosolola na bato, Jozafati aponaki bayembi, atiaki bango liboso ya mampinga ya basoda, mpo na kokumisa Yawe mpe kotombola nkembo ya bosantu na Ye. Mpe batambolaki liboso ya mampinga ya basoda na koyemba: « Bosanzola Yawe, pamba te bolingo na Ye ewumelaka seko na seko! »
After discussion with the people, he appointed singers to praise the Lord for his glorious, holy goodness. They led the way at the front of the army, singing, “Praise the Lord, for his trustworthy love lasts forever!”
22 Tango kaka babandaki koyemba mpe kokumisa, Yawe atiaki mobulu kati na bato ya Amoni, ya Moabi mpe ya bangomba Seiri oyo bakotaki na Yuda, mpe babomanaki bango na bango.
As soon as they started singing and praising, the Lord ambushed the men of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir who were coming to attack Judah, and they were defeated.
23 Bato ya Amoni mpe ya Moabi batelemaki mpo na kobundisa, koboma mpe kobebisa bavandi ya bangomba Seiri. Tango basilisaki koboma bavandi ya Seiri, bakomaki kobomana bango na bango.
The men of Ammon and Moab turned on the men from Mount Seir, killing all of them. Once they'd finished wiping out the army from Seir, they turned on each other, destroying themselves.
24 Tango bato ya Yuda bayaki na esika ya kotalela esobe na mosika, batalaki na ngambo ya mampinga minene ya banguna mpe bamonaki kaka bibembe elali na mabele: moko te abikaki.
So when the men of Judah came to the watchtower in the desert, they looked out to see the enemy army and all they saw were corpses lying on the ground! No one had escaped.
25 Jozafati elongo na bato na ye bakendeki kozwa bomengo ya bitumba; mpe bamonaki bibembe ebele, biloko ebele, bilamba ebele mpe biloko ebele ya talo. Balokotaki biloko ebele oyo bakokaki ata komema te. Basalaki mikolo misato mpo na kozwa yango, pamba te bomengo ya bitumba ezalaki ebele penza.
When Jehoshaphat and his people came to collect the plunder, they found a great deal of cattle, equipment, clothing, and other valuable articles, more than they could carry. It took three days to collect the plunder because there was so much of it.
26 Na mokolo ya minei, basanganaki na lubwaku ya Beraka epai wapi bapambolaki Yawe. Yango wana, kino na mokolo ya lelo, babengaka esika yango lubwaku ya Beraka.
On the fourth day they gathered in the Valley of Blessing. They gave it this name because this was where they blessed the Lord. It is still called the Valley of Blessing to this day.
27 Na bokambami ya Jozafati, bato nyonso ya Yuda mpe ya Yelusalemi bazongaki na esengo na Yelusalemi, pamba te Yawe atondisaki bango na esengo wana akangolaki bango na maboko ya banguna na bango.
Then all the men of Judah and Jerusalem celebrated as they returned to Jerusalem, with Jehoshaphat leading them, full of joy for the Lord's victory over their enemies.
28 Bakotaki na Yelusalemi na lokito ya makembe, ya mandanda mpe ya bakelelo, mpe bakendeki na Tempelo ya Yawe.
They entered Jerusalem and went straight to the Temple of Lord, accompanied by music from harps, lyres, and trumpets.
29 Somo ya Nzambe ekangaki bikolo nyonso ya mokili tango bayokaki sango ete Yawe abundisi banguna ya Isalaele.
All the kingdoms around were in awe of God when they heard that the Lord had fought against the enemies of Israel.
30 Bokonzi ya Jozafati ezwaki kimia, pamba te Nzambe na ye apesaki ye bopemi na bangambo nyonso.
Jehoshaphat and his kingdom were at peace, for God gave him rest—there were no attacks from any direction.
31 Jozafati, mwana mobali ya Asa, akonzaki Yuda; azalaki na mibu tuku misato na mitano ya mbotama tango akomaki mokonzi ya Yuda, mpe akonzaki mibu tuku mibale na mitano na Yelusalemi. Kombo ya mama na ye ezalaki « Azuba. » Azuba azalaki mwana mwasi ya Shili.
So Jehoshaphat reigned over Judah, having become king when he was thirty-five years, and he reigned in Jerusalem for twenty-five years. His mother's name was Azubah, daughter of Shilhi.
32 Jozafati alandaki nzela oyo Asa, tata na ye, atambolaki na yango; apengwaki na yango ata moke te mpe asalaki makambo ya sembo na miso ya Yawe.
Jehoshaphat followed the way of his father Asa and did not turn away from it. He did what was right in the Lord's sight.
33 Nzokande, balongolaki te bisambelo ya likolo ya bangomba; mpe bato babongisaki nanu te mitema na bango mpo na kokangama na Nzambe ya bakoko na bango.
However, the high places were not removed, and the people were not committed to the God of their forefathers.
34 Makambo mosusu oyo etali bokonzi ya Jozafati, kobanda na ebandeli kino na suka, ekomama kati na buku ya masolo ya Jewu, mwana mobali ya Anani; mpe masolo yango ezali kati na buku ya masolo ya bakonzi ya Isalaele.
The rest of what Jehoshaphat did, from beginning to end, is written down in the chronicles of Jehu, son of Hanani, recorded in the Book of the Kings of Israel.
35 Sima na yango, Jozafati, mokonzi ya Yuda, asalaki boyokani elongo na Akazia, mokonzi ya Isalaele, oyo etamboli na ye ezalaki mabe na miso ya Nzambe.
Later in his life, Jehoshaphat, king of Judah, allied himself with Ahaziah, king of Israel, who did wicked things.
36 Basanganaki bango mibale mpo na kotonga bamasuwa oyo esengelaki kokende na Tarsisi. Sima na kotonga bamasuwa na Etsioni-Geberi,
They agreed to work together and send ships to Tarshish. The ships were built in Ezion-geber.
37 Eliezeri, mwana mobali ya Dodavawu, moto ya Maresha, asakolaki mpo na kotelemela Jozafati; alobaki: « Lokola osali boyokani elongo na Akazia, Yawe akobebisa misala na yo. » Mpe bamasuwa ebebaki mpe ekokaki lisusu te kokende na Tarsisi.
But Eliezer, son of Dodavahu of Mareshah, prophesied against Jehoshaphat, saying, “Because you have made an alliance with Ahaziah, the Lord will destroy what you're doing.” The ships were wrecked and couldn't sail to Tarshish.
