1 Abiya akendeki kokutana na bakoko na ye, mpe bakundaki ye kati na engumba ya Davidi. Asa, mwana na ye ya mobali, akitanaki na ye na bokonzi. Na tango oyo Asa azalaki mokonzi, mokili ezalaki na kimia mibu zomi.
So Abijah slept with his fathers, and they buried him in David’s city; and Asa his son reigned in his place. In his days, the land was quiet ten years.
2 Asa asalaki makambo ya malamu mpe ya sembo na miso ya Yawe, Nzambe na ye.
Asa did that which was good and right in the LORD his God’s eyes,
3 Alongolaki bitumbelo ya banzambe ya bapaya mpe bisambelo ya likolo ya bangomba, abukaki makonzi ya bule ya banzambe ya bikeko mpe akweyisaki makonzi ya bikeko ya nzambe mwasi Ashera.
for he took away the foreign altars and the high places, broke down the pillars, cut down the Asherah poles,
4 Apesaki mitindo na bato ya Yuda ete baluka Yawe, Nzambe ya batata na bango, mpe batosa mibeko mpe malako na Ye.
and commanded Judah to seek the LORD, the God of their fathers, and to obey his law and command.
5 Kati na bingumba nyonso ya Yuda, mokonzi Asa alongolaki bisambelo nyonso ya likolo ya bangomba mpe bitumbelo malasi. Boye, na tango na ye, mokili ezalaki na kimia.
Also he took away out of all the cities of Judah the high places and the sun images; and the kingdom was quiet before him.
6 Atongaki bingumba makasi kati na Yuda mpo ete mokili ezalaki na kimia. Na mibu wana, moto moko te abundisaki ye, pamba te Yawe apesaki ye bopemi.
He built fortified cities in Judah; for the land was quiet, and he had no war in those years, because the LORD had given him rest.
7 Alobaki na Yuda: « Totonga bingumba oyo, tozingela yango na bamir, na bandako milayi mpe na bikuke elongo na bikangelo na yango. Mokili ezali kati na bopemi liboso na biso, pamba te tolukaki Yawe, Nzambe na biso; tolukaki Ye, mpe Ye apesi biso bopemi na bangambo nyonso. » Boye, batongaki mpe balongaki na mabongisi na bango.
For he said to Judah, “Let’s build these cities and make walls around them, with towers, gates, and bars. The land is yet before us, because we have sought the LORD our God. We have sought him, and he has given us rest on every side.” So they built and prospered.
8 Asa azalaki na mampinga ya basoda nkoto nkama misato ya bato ya Yuda, oyo bazalaki komema banguba minene mpe makonga, mpe ya basoda nkoto nkama mibale na tuku mwambe ya bato ya Benjame, oyo bazalaki komema banguba mike mpe kobeta matolotolo: bango nyonso bazalaki bilombe ya bitumba.
Asa had an army of three hundred thousand out of Judah who bore bucklers and spears, and two hundred eighty thousand out of Benjamin who bore shields and drew bows. All these were mighty men of valor.
9 Zera, moto ya Kushi, elongo na mampinga ya basoda monkoko moko mpe bashar nkama misato, abundisaki mampinga ya Asa mpe akomaki kino na Maresha.
Zerah the Ethiopian came out against them with an army of a million troops and three hundred chariots, and he came to Mareshah.
10 Asa abimelaki ye, mpe batandamaki na molongo ya bitumba na se ya Tsefata, pene ya Maresha.
Then Asa went out to meet him, and they set the battle in array in the valley of Zephathah at Mareshah.
11 Asa abelelaki Yawe, Nzambe na ye; alobaki: « Oh Yawe, moko te akokani na Yo, moko te akoki kosunga moto ya bolembu liboso ya moto na nguya. Oh Yawe, Nzambe na biso, sunga biso! Pamba te totiaka elikya na biso kati na Yo. Ezali na Kombo na Yo nde toyaki kobundisa mampinga oyo ya monene. Oh Yawe, ozali Nzambe na biso! Tika ete moto alonga Yo te! »
Asa cried to the LORD his God, and said, “LORD, there is no one besides you to help, between the mighty and him who has no strength. Help us, LORD our God; for we rely on you, and in your name are we come against this multitude. LORD, you are our God. Don’t let man prevail against you.”
12 Yawe abetaki bato ya Etiopi liboso ya Asa mpe Yuda, mpe bato ya Etiopi bakimaki.
So the LORD struck the Ethiopians before Asa and before Judah; and the Ethiopians fled.
13 Asa elongo na mampinga na ye balandaki bato ya Etiopi kino na Gerari. Bato bakufaki, bakokaki te kobikisa bomoi na bango, pamba te bango nyonso babebisamaki liboso ya Yawe mpe mampinga na Ye. Mampinga ya basoda ya Yuda bazwaki bomengo ebele ya bitumba;
Asa and the people who were with him pursued them to Gerar. So many of the Ethiopians fell that they could not recover themselves, for they were destroyed before the LORD and before his army. Judah’s army carried away very much booty.
14 babebisaki bamboka nyonso oyo ezalaki zingazinga ya Gerari, pamba te Yawe akweyiselaki bango somo na Ye ya makasi. Bazwaki na makasi biloko kati na bingumba nyonso, pamba te biloko ya kozwa ezalaki ebele penza kati na yango.
They struck all the cities around Gerar, for the fear of the LORD came on them. They plundered all the cities, for there was much plunder in them.
15 Babebisaki mpe bitonga ya bibwele, bamemaki bantaba mpe bameme ebele elongo na bashamo. Bongo, bazongaki na Yelusalemi.
They also struck the tents of those who had livestock, and carried away sheep and camels in abundance, then returned to Jerusalem.
