The men of Kiriath Jearim came, took the ark of Yahweh, and brought it into the house of Abinadab on the hill. They set apart his son Eleazar to keep the ark of Yahweh.
2 Wuta mokolo Sanduku ya Yawe ekomaki na Kiriati-Yearimi, elekaki mikolo ebele: mibu pene tuku mibale. Mpe bato nyonso ya Isalaele bayokaki posa ya kozonga epai na Yawe.
From the day the ark remained in Kiriath Jearim, a long time passed, twenty years. All the house of Israel lamented and wished to turn to Yahweh.
3 Bongo Samuele alobaki na bato nyonso ya Isalaele: « Soki ezali na motema na bino mobimba nde bolingi kozonga epai na Yawe, bolongola kati na bino banzambe ya bapaya mpe bikeko ya Asitarite; mpe bomipesa mobimba epai na Yawe mpe bosalela kaka Ye. Na nzela wana nde Ye akokangola bino na maboko ya bato ya Filisitia. »
Samuel said to the entire house of Israel, “If you return to Yahweh with your whole heart, remove the foreign gods and the Ashtoreths from among you, turn your hearts to Yahweh, and worship him only, then he will rescue you from the hand of the Philistines.”
4 Bato ya Isalaele balongolaki kati na bango banzambe Bala mpe bikeko ya Asitarite, mpe basalelaki kaka Yawe.
Then the people of Israel removed the Baals and the Ashtoreths, and worshiped Yahweh only.
5 Samuele alobaki na bango: « Bosangisa bato nyonso ya Isalaele, na Mitsipa, mpe ngai nakosambela Yawe mpo na bino. »
Then Samuel said, “Bring together all Israel to Mizpah, and I will pray to Yahweh for you.”
6 Bato ya Isalaele basanganaki na Mitsipa, batokaki mayi mpe basopaki yango na mabele, liboso ya Yawe. Na mokolo wana, bakilaki bilei mpe batubelaki kuna masumu na koloba: « Tosalaki masumu liboso ya Yawe. » Samuele akambaki Isalaele wuta na Mitsipa.
They gathered at Mizpah, drew water and poured it out before Yahweh. They fasted that day and said, “We have sinned against Yahweh.” It was there that Samuel decided disputes for the people of Israel and led the people.
7 Tango bato ya Filisitia bayokaki ete bato ya Isalaele basangani na Mitsipa, bakambi ya bato ya Filisitia bayaki kobundisa bango. Bongo tango bato ya Isalaele bayokaki sango yango, babangaki bato ya Filisitia.
Now when the Philistines heard the people of Israel had gathered at Mizpah, the rulers of the Philistines attacked Israel. When the people of Israel heard of it, they were afraid of the Philistines.
8 Bato ya Isalaele balobaki na Samuele: « Kotika te kosambela Yawe, Nzambe na biso, mpo na biso mpo ete abikisa biso na maboko ya bato ya Filisitia. »
Then the people of Israel said to Samuel, “Do not stop calling out to Yahweh our God for us, so he will save us from the hand of the Philistines.”
9 Samuele akamataki mwana meme ya mobali, oyo ezalaki nanu komela mabele, mpe abonzaki yango mobimba lokola mbeka ya kotumba epai na Yawe. Abelelaki Yawe mpo na Isalaele, mpe Yawe ayokaki losambo na ye.
Samuel took a nursing lamb and offered it as a whole burnt offering to Yahweh. Then Samuel cried out to Yahweh for Israel, and Yahweh answered him.
10 Wana Samuele azalaki kobonza mbeka ya kotumba, bato ya Filisitia bapusanaki pembeni mpo na kobundisa bato ya Isalaele. Kasi na mokolo wana, Yawe atindelaki bato ya Filisitia kake makasi oyo ekotisaki mobulu kati na bango. Mpe bato ya Isalaele balongaki bango.
As Samuel was offering up the burnt offering, the Philistines approached to attack Israel. But Yahweh thundered with a loud sound that day against the Philistines and threw them into confusion, and they were routed before Israel.
11 Bato ya Isalaele babimaki na Mitsipa, balandaki bato ya Filisitia kino na se ya Beti-Kari mpe babomaki bango.
The men of Israel went from Mizpah, and they pursued the Philistines and killed them as far as below Beth Kar.

Then Samuel took a stone and set it between Mizpah and Shen. He named it Ebenezer, saying, “Thus far Yahweh has helped us.”
13 Bato ya Filisitia bayokisamaki soni mpe bazongelaki lisusu te kokota na mokili ya Isalaele. Na mikolo nyonso ya bomoi ya Samuele, loboko na Yawe etelemelaki bato ya Filisitia.
So the Philistines were subdued and they did not enter the border of Israel. The hand of Yahweh was against the Philistines all the days of Samuel.
14 Bingumba oyo bato ya Filisitia babotolaki epai ya bato ya Isalaele, kobanda na Ekroni kino na Gati, ezongaki na maboko ya bato ya Isalaele, mpe bato ya Isalaele bakangolaki bamboka nyonso ya zingazinga oyo ezalaki na se ya bokonzi ya bato ya Filisitia. Mpe kimia ezalaki kati na bato ya Isalaele mpe bato ya Amori.
The towns that the Philistines had taken from Israel were restored to Israel, from Ekron to Gath; Israel brought back their territory from the Philistines. Then there was peace between Israel and the Amorites.
15 Samuele akambaki Isalaele mikolo nyonso ya bomoi na ye.
Samuel judged Israel all the days of his life.
16 Abandaki kotambola mibu nyonso, kobanda na Beteli, koleka na Giligali kino na Mitsipa, mpo na kokamba bato ya Isalaele na bisika nyonso wana.
Each year he went on a circuit to Bethel, to Gilgal, and to Mizpah. He decided disputes for Israel in all these places.
17 Kasi azalaki kozonga tango nyonso na Rama epai wapi ndako na ye ezalaki. Ezali kuna nde azalaki lisusu kokamba bato ya Isalaele. Mpe atongaki kuna etumbelo mpo na Yawe.
Then he would return to Ramah, because his house was there; and there also he decided disputes for Israel. He also built an altar there to Yahweh.
