When David was old and near the end of his life, he made Solomon his son king over Israel.

He gathered together all the leaders of Israel, with the priests and Levites.

The Levites who were thirty years old and older were counted. They numbered thirty-eight thousand.
4 Davidi alobaki: « Tika ete Balevi nkoto tuku mibale na minei bazala bakambi ya misala ya Tempelo ya Yawe, Balevi nkoto motoba bazala bakomi mikanda mpe basambisi,
“Of these, twenty-four thousand were to oversee the work of Yahweh's house, and six thousand were officers and judges.

Four thousand were gatekeepers, and four thousand were to praise Yahweh with the instruments that I made to give praise,” David said.

There were three of Shimei's sons: Shelomoth, Haziel, and Haran. These were the leaders of the clans of Ladan.
10 Shimei azalaki na bana mibali mosusu minei: Yaati, Ziza, Yewushi mpe Beria.
There were four of Shimei's sons: Jahath, Ziza, Jeush, and Beriah.
11 Yaati azalaki mwana ya liboso, mpe Ziza, mwana ya mibale. Nzokande Yewushi mpe Beria bazalaki na bakitani ebele te. Boye batangaki bango lokola libota moko.
Jahath was the oldest, and Ziza the second, but Jeush and Beriah did not have many sons, so they were considered as one clan with the same duties.
12 Keati azalaki na bana mibali minei: Amirami, Yitseari, Ebron mpe Uzieli.
There were four of Kohath's sons: Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel.
13 Amirami azalaki na bana mibali mibale: Aron mpe Moyize. Aron aponamaki mpo na libela, elongo na bana na ye ya mibali, mpo na kobulisa Esika-Oyo-Eleki-Bule, mpo na kotumba mbeka ya malasi liboso ya Yawe, mpo na kosalela Ye mpe kopambola bato mpo na libela na Kombo na Ye.
These were Amram's sons: Aaron and Moses. Aaron was chosen to set apart the most holy things, that he and his descendants would offer incense before Yahweh, to serve him and to give blessings in his name forever.
14 Bana ya Moyize, moto na Nzambe, batangaki bango na ekolo ya Levi.
But as for Moses the man of God, his sons were considered to be Levites.
15 Bana mibali ya Moyize: Gerishomi mpe Eliezeri.
Moses' sons were Gershom and Eliezer.
16 Bana mibali ya Gerishomi: Shebueli azalaki mwana mobali ya liboso.
Gershom's descendant was Shubael the oldest.
17 Bana mibali ya Eliezeri: Reabia azalaki mwana na ye se moko. Eliezeri azalaki na bana mosusu te, kasi Reabia azalaki na bana ebele.
Eliezer's descendant was Rehabiah. Eliezer had no other sons, but Rehabiah had many descendants.
18 Bana mibali ya Yitseari: Shelomiti azalaki mwana ya liboso kati na bana mibali ya Yitseari.
Izhar's son was Shelomith the leader.
19 Bana mibali ya Ebron: Yeriya, mwana ya liboso; Amaria, mwana ya mibale; Yaazieli, mwana ya misato mpe Yekameami, mwana ya minei.
Hebron's descendants were Jeriah, the oldest, Amariah the second, Jahaziel the third, and Jekameam the fourth.
20 Bana mibali ya Uzieli: Mishe, mwana ya liboso; mpe Yishiya, mwana ya mibale.
Uzziel's sons were Micah the oldest, and Ishijah the second.
21 Bana mibali ya Merari: Maali mpe Mushi. Bana mibali ya Maali: Eleazari mpe Kishi.
Merari's sons were Mahli and Mushi. Mahli's sons were Eleazar and Kish.
22 Eleazari akufaki mpe atikalaki kobota bana mibali te, azalaki kaka na bana basi oyo babalanaki na bandeko na bango, bana mibali ya tata leki na bango Kishi.
Eleazar died without having any sons. He had only daughters. The sons of Kish married them.
23 Bana mibali ya Mushi: Maali, Ederi mpe Yeremoti. Bango nyonso bazalaki misato.
Mushi's three sons were Mahli, Eder, and Jerimoth.
24 Bango nde bazalaki bakitani ya Levi kolanda bituka na bango, mpe bakambi ya bituka na bango kolanda ndenge bakomamaki, moto na moto, na buku ya mabota. Bazwaki mokumba ya kosala misala kati na Tempelo ya Yawe, kobanda na oyo azalaki na mibu tuku mibale mpe koleka.
These were Levi's descendants corresponding to their clans. They were the leaders, counted and listed by name, of the clans that did the work in the service of Yahweh's house, from twenty years old and upward.
25 Bongo Davidi alobaki: « Yawe, Nzambe ya Isalaele, apesi bopemi na bato na Ye mpe avandi libela kati na Yelusalemi.
For David said, “Yahweh, the God of Israel, has given rest to his people. He makes his home in Jerusalem forever.

The Levites will no longer need to carry the tabernacle and all the equipment used in its service.”

For by David's last words the Levites were counted, from twenty years old and upward.
28 Mosala ya Balevi ezalaki mpo na kosunga bakitani ya Aron na mosala ya Tempelo ya Yawe: kolandela bopeto ya veranda mpe ya bashambre, kopetola biloko nyonso ya bule mpe kosala misala nyonso ya Tempelo.
Their duty was to assist Aaron's descendants in the service of Yahweh's house. They were to care for the courtyards, the rooms, the ceremonial purification of all the things that belong to Yahweh, and other work in the service of God's house.
29 Bazalaki na mokumba ya kotanda mapa na mesa, kobongisa farine mpo na makabo ya bagato ezanga levire, bagalete mpe bagato batumba na kikalungu, mpe bagato basangisa na mafuta mpe biloko nyonso oyo bamekelaka kilo mpe molayi.
They also took care of the bread of the presence, the fine flour for grain offerings, the unleavened wafers, the baked offerings, the offerings mixed with oil, and all the measuring of the amounts and sizes of things.
30 Bazalaki mpe na mokumba ya kotelema liboso ya Yawe, tongo mpe pokwa nyonso, mpo na kokumisa mpe kosanzola Ye;
They also stood every morning to thank and praise Yahweh. They also did this in the evening
31 mpe kobonza tango nyonso bambeka ya kotumba oyo bazalaki komema epai na Yawe na mikolo ya Saba, na ebandeli ya sanza mpe na mikolo nyonso ya bafeti oyo ekatama, kolanda motango oyo bakatelaki bango mpo na libela liboso ya Yawe.
and whenever burnt offerings were offered to Yahweh, on the Sabbath and at the new moon festivals and feast days. A fixed number, assigned by decree, always had to be present before Yahweh.
32 Boye Balevi bazalaki kosala mosala na bango ya kokengela Ndako ya kapo ya Bokutani mpe Esika ya bule, mpe ya kosunga bandeko na bango ya mibali, bana ya Aron, na mosala ya Tempelo ya Yawe.
They were in charge of the tent of meeting, the holy place, and helped their fellow descendants of Aaron in the service of Yahweh's house.
