Psalmi 8

1 Dāvida dziesma, dziedātāju vadonim, uz Ģittit. Kungs, mūsu valdītājs, kāds augsti godājams ir Tavs Vārds visās zemēs, kas esi cēlis Savu godību pār debesīm!

“To the chief musician upon Gittith, a psalm of David.” O Eternal One our Lord, how excellent is thy name on all the earth! thou who hast set thy majesty above the heavens.

2 No bērniņu un zīdāmo mutes Tu esi sataisījis spēku, Savu pretinieku dēļ, apklusināt ienaidnieku un atriebēju.

Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou founded [thy] might, because of thy opponents, that thou mightest bring to silence the enemy and him that seeketh vengeance.

3 Kad es redzu Tavu debesi, Tavu pirkstu darbu, mēnesi un zvaigznes, ko Tu esi taisījis: -

When I behold thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast established: —

4 Kas ir tas cilvēks, ka Tu viņu piemini, un tas cilvēka bērns, ka Tu viņu uzlūko?

What is the mortal, that thou rememberest him? and the son of man, that thou thinkest of him:

5 Tu viņu mazliet no Dieva esi atšķīris, un ar godību un jaukumu Tu viņu esi pušķojis.

Yet thou hast made him but a little less than angels, and hast crowned him with honor and glory.

6 Tu viņu esi iecēlis par valdnieku pār Tavu roku darbiem, visu Tu esi licis apakš viņa kājām,

Thou hast given him dominion over the works of thy hands; every thing hast thou placed beneath his feet:

7 Avis un vēršus visnotaļ, arī lauka zvērus,

Flocks and herds altogether, and also the beasts of the field;

8 Putnus apakš debess, zivis jūrā, kas jūras ceļus pārstaigā.

The birds of heaven, and the fishes of the sea, whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas.

9 Kungs, mūsu valdītājs, kāds augsti godājams ir Tavs Vārds visās zemēs!

O Eternal One our Lord, how excellent is thy name on all the earth!
