Ījaba 22
1 Tad Elifas no Temanas atbildēja un sacīja:
Then answered Eliphaz the Themanite, and said,
2 Vai Dievam kāds labums no cilvēka? Nē, labums tam pašam, ka ir prātīgs.
Can a man be serviceable unto God? Truly the intelligent is serviceable unto himself.
3 Vai tas tam Visuvarenam par labu, kad tu taisns, jeb par mantu, ka tu savus ceļus nenoziedzīgi staigā?
Is it any pleasure to the Almighty that thou art righteous? or is it any gain to him, that thou makest thy ways perfect?
4 Vai tad Viņš tavas Dieva bijāšanas dēļ tevi sodīs un ar tevi ies tiesā?
Is it out of fear of thee that he will reproach thee? or go with thee into judgment?
5 Vai tava blēdība nav liela un tavi noziegumi bez gala?
Is not thy evil great? and no end to thy iniquities?
6 Jo savus brāļus tu esi ķīlājis bez vainas un novilcis kailiem drēbes.
For thou hast taken a pledge from thy brothers for nought, and stripped the naked of their clothing.
7 Piekusušo tu neesi dzirdinājis ar ūdeni un izsalkušam liedzis maizi.
Thou hast not given water to the weary to drink, and from the hungry thou hast withholden bread.
8 Kur kāds bija varens, tam piederēja zeme, un kas bija augstā godā, tas tur dzīvoja.
But as for the man of a strong arm, he obtained the land, and the highly honored could dwell therein.
9 Atraitnes tu esi atlaidis tukšā, un bāriņu elkoņi ir salauzti.
Widows hast thou sent away empty, and the arms of the fatherless have been broken.
10 Tādēļ ir virves ap tevi, un izbailes tev piepeši uzgājušas.
Therefore are snares round about thee, and sudden dread terrifieth thee.
11 Jeb vai tu neredzi tumsu un ūdens plūdus, kas tevi apklāj?
Or seest thou not the darkness? and the abundance of water which covereth thee?
12 Vai Dievs nav augšām debesīs? Redzi jel zvaigžņu augstumu, cik tās augstas!
Is not God in the height of heaven? and beholding the highest elevation of the stars, however high they are?
13 Un tu saki: ko Dievs zin? Vai Viņš aiz tumšiem mākoņiem māk tiesāt?
But thou sayest, “What doth God know? can he judge behind the darkness?
14 Padebeši ir Viņa aizsegs, ka neredz, un Viņš staigā debesīs.
Thick clouds are a covering for him, so that he will not see; and he walketh along on the circle of heaven.”
15 Vai tu vecās pasaules ceļu gribi staigāt, ko netaisnie ļaudis gājuši,
Wilt thou [thus] observe the path of ancient times which the men of injustice have trodden?
16 Kas priekšlaiku bojā gājuši, - plūdi izgāzušies pār viņu pamatiem.
Who were shrivelled up before their time, whose foundation was flooded away like a river;
17 Kas uz to stipro Dievu sacīja: Nost no mums! un ko tas Visuvarenais tiem varētu darīt?
Who said unto God, “'Depart from us:” and what wrought the Almighty for them?
18 Tomēr Tas viņu namus bija pildījis ar labumu. Šo bezdievīgo padoms lai ir tālu no manis.
And yet it was he that filled their houses with good things; but the counsel of the wicked be [still] far from me.
19 Taisnie to redz un priecājās, un nenoziedzīgais par tiem smiesies:
The righteous will see it, and be glad; and the innocent will laugh them to scorn.
20 Tiešām, izdeldēti ir mūsu ienaidnieki, un uguns aprijis viņu pārējo mantu.
“Is not he destroyed that rose up against us, and hath not the fire consumed what they had left?”
21 Meklē Viņa draudzību, tad paliksi mierā, no tā tev nāks labums.
Do but become acquainted with him, and be at peace: thereby will happiness come unto thee.
22 Pieņem jel mācību no Viņa mutes un liec Viņa vārdus savā sirdī.
Do but accept instruction from his mouth, and lay up his saying in thy heart.
23 Ja tu atgriezīsies pie tā Visuvarenā un atmetīsi netaisnību tālu no sava dzīvokļa, tad tu tapsi uztaisīts.
If thou return to the Almighty, thou shalt be built up, so thou wilt but remove wrong-doing far away from thy tents.
24 Liec pīšļos mantu un upes oļos zeltu,
And throw down in the dust precious metals, and [the gold of] Ophir to the stones of the brooks:
25 Tad tas Visuvarenais tev būs par zeltu un Viņš tev būs par spožu sudrabu.
Then will the Almighty be thy precious metal, and brightly-shining silver unto thee.
26 Tad tu par to Visuvareno priecāsies un pacelsi uz Dievu savu vaigu.
For then wilt thou have in the Almighty thy delight, and thou canst lift up unto God thy face.
27 Tu Viņu piesauksi, un Viņš tevi paklausīs, un tu maksāsi savus solījumus.
Thou wilt make entreaty unto him, and he will hear thee, and thy vows wilt thou pay.
28 Ko tu apņemsies, tas tev notiks, un uz taviem ceļiem spīdēs gaišums.
And if thou decree a thing, it will be fulfilled unto thee; and upon thy ways the light will shine.
29 Kad iet uz leju, tad tu saki: uz augšu! Un Viņš izglābs to, kam noskumis vaigs.
For when men are brought low, thou wilt say, Pride [hath done it]; but those of lowly eyes [God] will help.
30 Viņš izpestīs to, kas nav nenoziedzīgs; tavu roku šķīstības dēļ tas taps izpestīts.
He will even deliver him who is not guiltless: and thou wilt be delivered by the purity of thy hands.
