< Psalmorum 9 >
1 in finem pro occultis filii psalmus David confitebor tibi Domine in toto corde meo narrabo omnia mirabilia tua
“To the chief musician upon Muthlabben, a psalm of David.” I will thank the Lord with all my heart: I will relate all thy marvelous deeds.
2 laetabor et exultabo in te psallam nomini tuo Altissime
I will rejoice and exult in thee: I will sing praise to thy name, O thou Most High:
3 in convertendo inimicum meum retrorsum infirmabuntur et peribunt a facie tua
When my enemies are turned backward, [when] they fall and perish at thy presence.
For thou hast conducted my dispute and my cause; thou hast sat on the throne as a righteous judge.
5 increpasti gentes et periit impius nomen eorum delisti in aeternum et in saeculum saeculi
Thou hast rebuked nations, thou hast caused the wicked to perish, their name hast thou blotted out for ever and ever.
O thou enemy, the ruins are passed away for ever, and the cities which thou hast destroyed, —lost is their memorial, yea, theirs.
7 et Dominus in aeternum permanet paravit in iudicio thronum suum
But the Lord will sit enthroned for ever: he hath established for giving judgment his throne.
8 et ipse iudicabit orbem terrae in aequitate iudicabit populos in iustitia
And he will judge the world with righteousness, he shall decide for the people, with equity.
9 et factus est Dominus refugium pauperi adiutor in oportunitatibus in tribulatione
The Lord also will be a strong-hold for the oppressed, a strong-hold in times of distress.
And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee; for thou hast not forsaken those that seek thee, O Lord.
Sing praises to the Lord, who dwelleth in Zion: announce among the people his deeds.
For he, that inquireth after acts of blood, hath remembered them: he hath not forgotten the cry of the afflicted.
13 miserere mei Domine vide humilitatem meam de inimicis meis
Be gracious unto me, O Lord; have regard to my affliction [coming] from those that hate me, thou who liftest me up from the gates of death:
14 qui exaltas me de portis mortis ut adnuntiem omnes laudationes tuas in portis filiae Sion
In order that I may relate all thy praises in the gates of the daughters of Zion: I will be glad in thy salvation.
15 exultabo in salutari tuo infixae sunt gentes in interitu quem fecerunt in laqueo isto quem absconderunt conprehensus est pes eorum
Sunk are nations in the ditch that they have prepared: in this net which they had laid in secret is their own foot caught.
16 cognoscitur Dominus iudicia faciens in operibus manuum suarum conprehensus est peccator canticum diapsalmatis
The Lord is made known: he executed justice: through the doing of his own hands is the wicked ensnared. Higgayon, (Selah)
17 convertantur peccatores in infernum omnes gentes quae obliviscuntur Deum (Sheol )
The wicked shall return into hell, all the nations that are forgetful of God. (Sheol )
18 quoniam non in finem oblivio erit pauperis patientia pauperum non peribit in finem
For not everlastingly shall the needy be forgotten: the expectation of the poor shall not perish for ever.
19 exsurge Domine non confortetur homo iudicentur gentes in conspectu tuo
Arise, O Lord; let not the mortal boast of his strength; let nations be judged before thy face.
20 constitue Domine legislatorem super eos sciant gentes quoniam homines sunt diapsalma
Place, O Lord, fear over them: let nations know, that they are but mortals. (Selah)
