< Psalmorum 6 >

1 in finem in carminibus pro octava psalmus David Domine ne in furore tuo arguas me neque in ira tua corripias me
“To the chief musician on Neginoth upon Sheminith, a psalm of David.” O Lord, correct me not in thy anger, and chastise me not in thy wrath.
2 miserere mei Domine quoniam infirmus sum sana me Domine quoniam conturbata sunt ossa mea
Be gracious unto me, O Lord; for I am withering away; heal me, O Lord; for my bones are terrified.
3 et anima mea turbata est valde et tu Domine usquequo
And my soul is greatly terrified; but thou, O Lord, how long yet—?
4 convertere Domine eripe animam meam salvum me fac propter misericordiam tuam
Return, O Lord, deliver my soul: help me for the sake of thy kindness.
5 quoniam non est in morte qui memor sit tui in inferno autem quis confitebitur tibi (Sheol h7585)
For in death men do not remember thee: in the nether world, who shall give thee thanks? (Sheol h7585)
6 laboravi in gemitu meo lavabo per singulas noctes lectum meum in lacrimis meis stratum meum rigabo
I am weary with my sighing; I flood every night my bed; With my tears I moisten my couch.
7 turbatus est a furore oculus meus inveteravi inter omnes inimicos meos
My eye is consumed because of grief; it waxeth old because of all my assailants.
8 discedite a me omnes qui operamini iniquitatem quoniam exaudivit Dominus vocem fletus mei
Depart from me, all ye workers of wickedness; for the Lord hath heard the voice of my weeping.
9 exaudivit Dominus deprecationem meam Dominus orationem meam suscepit
The Lord hath heard my supplication; the Lord will accept my prayer.
10 erubescant et conturbentur vehementer omnes inimici mei convertantur et erubescant valde velociter
Ashamed and greatly terrified shall become all my enemies; they will turn round, and be made ashamed in a moment.
