< Psalmorum 54 >
1 in finem in carminibus intellectus David cum venissent Ziphei et dixissent ad Saul nonne David absconditus est apud nos Deus in nomine tuo salvum me fac et in virtute tua iudica me
To the Chief Musician: with Stringed Instruments. A Psalm of Instruction, of David. When the Ziphites came and said unto Saul, Is not, David, hiding himself, with us? O God! by thine own Name, save me, And, by thine own strength, wilt thou vindicate me?
2 Deus exaudi orationem meam auribus percipe verba oris mei
O God! Hear my prayer, Give ear to the sayings of my mouth;
3 quoniam alieni insurrexerunt adversum me et fortes quaesierunt animam meam non proposuerunt Deum ante conspectum suum diapsalma
For, aliens, have risen up against me, And, men of violence, have sought my life, They have not set God before them. (Selah)
4 ecce enim Deus adiuvat me Dominus susceptor animae meae
Lo! God, is bringing me help, My Lord, is with the upholders of my life;
5 avertet mala inimicis meis in veritate tua disperde illos
Let him turn back the mischief upon mine adversaries, In thy faithfulness, destroy them!
6 voluntarie sacrificabo tibi confitebor nomini tuo Domine quoniam bonum
With a freewill-offering, will I sacrifice unto thee, I will praise thy Name, O Yahweh, for it is good;
7 quoniam ex omni tribulatione eripuisti me et super inimicos meos despexit oculus meus
For, out of all distress, hath he rescued me, —And, upon my foes, hath, mine own eye, looked.
