< Psalmorum 52 >
1 in finem intellectus David cum venit Doec Idumeus et adnuntiavit Saul et dixit venit David in domo Achimelech quid gloriatur in malitia qui potens est iniquitate
TO THE OVERSEER. AN INSTRUCTION OF DAVID, IN THE COMING IN OF DOEG THE EDOMITE, AND HE DECLARES TO SAUL AND SAYS TO HIM, “DAVID CAME TO THE HOUSE OF AHIMELECH.” Why do you boast in evil, O mighty one? The kindness of God [is] all the day.
2 tota die iniustitiam cogitavit lingua tua sicut novacula acuta fecisti dolum
Your tongue devises mischiefs, Like a sharp razor, working deceit.
3 dilexisti malitiam super benignitatem iniquitatem magis quam loqui aequitatem diapsalma
You have loved evil rather than good, Lying, than speaking righteousness. (Selah)
4 dilexisti omnia verba praecipitationis linguam dolosam
You have loved all devouring words, O you deceitful tongue.
5 propterea Deus destruet te in finem evellet te et emigrabit te de tabernaculo et radicem tuam de terra viventium diapsalma
Also—God breaks you down forever, Takes you, and pulls you out of the tent, And He has uprooted you Out of the land of the living. (Selah)
6 videbunt iusti et timebunt et super eum ridebunt et dicent
And the righteous see, And fear, and laugh at him.
7 ecce homo qui non posuit Deum adiutorem suum sed speravit in multitudine divitiarum suarum et praevaluit in vanitate sua
“Behold, the man who does not make God his strong place, And trusts in the abundance of his riches, He is strong in his mischiefs.”
8 ego autem sicut oliva fructifera in domo Dei speravi in misericordia Dei in aeternum et in saeculum saeculi
And I, as a green olive in the house of God, I have trusted in the kindness of God, For all time and forever,
9 confitebor tibi in saeculum quia fecisti et expectabo nomen tuum quoniam bonum in conspectu sanctorum tuorum
I thank You for all time, because You have done [it], And I wait [on] Your Name for [it is] good before Your saints!
