< Psalmorum 38 >
1 psalmus David in rememorationem de sabbato Domine ne in furore tuo arguas me neque in ira tua corripias me
O lord, rebuke me not in your wrath: neither chasten me in your hot displeasure.
2 quoniam sagittae tuae infixae sunt mihi et confirmasti super me manum tuam
For your arrows stick fast in me, and your hand presses me sore.
3 non est sanitas carni meae a facie irae tuae non est pax ossibus meis a facie peccatorum meorum
There is no soundness in my flesh because of your anger; neither is there any rest in my bones because of my sin.
4 quoniam iniquitates meae supergressae sunt caput meum sicut onus grave gravatae sunt super me
For my iniquities are gone over my head: as an heavy burden they are too heavy for me.
5 putruerunt et corruptae sunt cicatrices meae a facie insipientiae meae
My wounds stink and are corrupt because of my foolishness.
I am troubled; I am bowed down greatly; I go mourning all the day long.
For my loins are filled with a loathsome disease: and there is no soundness in my flesh.
8 adflictus sum et humiliatus sum nimis rugiebam a gemitu cordis mei
I am feeble and sore broken: I have roared by reason of the disquietness of my heart.
Lord, all my desire is before you; and my groaning is not hid from you.
My heart pants, my strength fails me: as for the light of my eyes, it also is gone from me.
11 amici mei et proximi mei adversus me adpropinquaverunt et steterunt et qui iuxta me erant de longe steterunt
My lovers and my friends stand aloof from my sore; and my kinsmen stand afar off.
They also that seek after my life lay snares for me: and they that seek my hurt speak mischievous things, and imagine deceits all the day long.
But I, as a deaf man, heard not; and I was as a dumb man that opens not his mouth.
Thus I was as a man that hears not, and in whose mouth are no reproofs.
15 quoniam in te Domine speravi tu exaudies Domine Deus meus
For in you, O LORD, do I hope: you will hear, O Lord my God.
16 quia dixi nequando supergaudeant mihi inimici mei et dum commoventur pedes mei super me magna locuti sunt
For I said, Hear me, lest otherwise they should rejoice over me: when my foot slips, they magnify themselves against me.
17 quoniam ego in flagella paratus et dolor meus in conspectu meo semper
For I am ready to halt, and my sorrow is continually before me.
For I will declare my iniquity; I will be sorry for my sin.
19 inimici autem mei vivent et firmati sunt super me et multiplicati sunt qui oderunt me inique
But my enemies are lively, and they are strong: and they that hate me wrongfully are multiplied.
They also that render evil for good are my adversaries; because I follow the thing that good is.
21 non derelinquas me Domine Deus meus ne discesseris a me
Forsake me not, O LORD: O my God, be not far from me.
22 intende in adiutorium meum Domine salutis meae
Make haste to help me, O Lord my salvation.
