< Psalmorum 116 >
1 alleluia dilexi quoniam exaudiet Dominus vocem orationis meae
Alleluia. I am well pleased, because the Lord will listen to the voice of my supplication.
2 quia inclinavit aurem suam mihi et in diebus meis invocabo te
Because he has inclined his ear to me, therefore will I call upon him while I live.
3 circumdederunt me dolores mortis pericula inferni invenerunt me tribulationem et dolorem inveni (Sheol )
The pangs of death compassed me; the dangers of hell found me: I found affliction and sorrow. (Sheol )
4 et nomen Domini invocavi o Domine libera animam meam
Then I called on the name of the Lord: O Lord, deliver my soul.
5 misericors Dominus et iustus et Deus noster miseretur
The Lord is merciful and righteous; yes, our God has pity.
6 custodiens parvulos Dominus humiliatus sum et liberavit me
The Lord preserves the simple: I was brought low, and he delivered me.
7 convertere anima mea in requiem tuam quia Dominus benefecit tibi
Return to your rest, O my soul; for the Lord has dealt bountifully with you.
8 quia eripuit animam meam de morte oculos meos a lacrimis pedes meos a lapsu
For he has delivered my soul from death, mine eyes from tears, and my feet from falling.
9 placebo Domino in regione vivorum
I shall be well-pleasing before the Lord in the land of the living.
10 alleluia credidi propter quod locutus sum ego autem humiliatus sum nimis
Alleluia. I believed, therefore I have spoken: but I was greatly afflicted.
11 ego dixi in excessu meo omnis homo mendax
And I said in mine amazement, Every man is a liar.
12 quid retribuam Domino pro omnibus quae retribuit mihi
What shall I render to the Lord for all the things wherein he has rewarded me?
13 calicem salutaris accipiam et nomen Domini invocabo
I will take the cup of salvation, and call upon the name of the Lord.
14 vota mea Domino reddam coram omni populo eius
I will pay my vows to the Lord, in the presence of all his people.
15 pretiosa in conspectu Domini mors sanctorum eius
Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.
16 o Domine quia ego servus tuus ego servus tuus et filius ancillae tuae disrupisti vincula mea
O Lord, I am your servant; I am your servant, and the son of your handmaid: you have burst by bonds asunder.
17 tibi sacrificabo hostiam laudis et in nomine Domini invocabo
I will offer to you the sacrifice of praise, and will call upon the name of the Lord.
18 vota mea Domino reddam in conspectu omnis populi eius
I will pay my vows to the Lord, in the presence of all his people,
19 in atriis domus Domini in medio tui Hierusalem
in the courts of the Lord's house, in the midst of you, Jerusalem.
