< Psalmorum 11 >

1 in finem psalmus David in Domino confido quomodo dicitis animae meae transmigra in montes sicut passer
For the chief musician. A psalm of David. I take refuge in Yahweh; how will you say to me, “Flee like a bird to the mountain”?
2 quoniam ecce peccatores intenderunt arcum paraverunt sagittas suas in faretra ut sagittent in obscuro rectos corde
For see! The wicked prepare their bows. They make ready their arrows on the strings to shoot in the darkness at the upright in heart.
3 quoniam quae perfecisti destruxerunt iustus autem quid fecit
For if the foundations are ruined, what can the righteous do?
4 Dominus in templo sancto suo Dominus in caelo sedis eius oculi eius in pauperem respiciunt palpebrae eius interrogant filios hominum
Yahweh is in his holy temple; his eyes watch, his eyes examine the children of mankind.
5 Dominus interrogat iustum et impium qui autem diligit iniquitatem odit animam suam
Yahweh examines both the righteous and the wicked, but he hates those who love to do violence.
6 pluet super peccatores laqueos ignis et sulphur et spiritus procellarum pars calicis eorum
He rains burning coals and brimstone upon the wicked; a scorching wind will be their portion from his cup!
7 quoniam iustus Dominus et iustitias dilexit aequitatem vidit vultus eius
For Yahweh is righteous, and he loves righteousness; the upright will see his face.
