< Psalmorum 104 >
1 ipsi David benedic anima mea Domino Domine Deus meus magnificatus es vehementer confessionem et decorem induisti
Bless Jehovah, my soul. Jehovah, my God, you are very great. You are clothed with splendor and majesty.
2 amictus lumine sicut vestimento extendens caelum sicut pellem
He covers himself with light as with a garment. He stretches out the heavens like a curtain.
He lays the beams of his chambers in the waters. He makes the clouds his chariot. He walks on the wings of the wind.
He makes his angels winds, and his servants flames of fire.
He laid the foundations of the earth, that it should not be moved forever and ever.
6 abyssus sicut vestimentum amictus eius super montes stabunt aquae
You covered it with the deep as with a cloak. The waters stood above the mountains.
7 ab increpatione tua fugient a voce tonitrui tui formidabunt
At your rebuke they fled. At the voice of your thunder they hurried away.
8 ascendunt montes et descendunt campi in locum quem fundasti eis
The mountains rose, the valleys sank down, to the place which you had assigned to them.
You have set a boundary that they may not pass over; that they do not turn again to cover the earth.
He sends forth springs into the valleys. They run among the mountains.
11 potabunt omnes bestiae agri expectabunt onagri in siti sua
They give drink to every animal of the field. The wild donkeys quench their thirst.
12 super ea volucres caeli habitabunt de medio petrarum dabunt vocem
The birds of the sky nest by them; among the branches they give forth a sound.
13 rigans montes de superioribus suis de fructu operum tuorum satiabitur terra
He waters the mountains from his chambers. The earth is filled with the fruit of your works.
He causes the grass to grow for the livestock, and plants for man to cultivate, that he may bring forth food out of the earth:
15 et vinum laetificat cor hominis ut exhilaret faciem in oleo et panis cor hominis confirmat
wine that makes glad the heart of man, oil to make his face to shine, and bread that strengthens man's heart.
16 saturabuntur ligna campi et cedri Libani quas plantavit
Jehovah's trees are well watered, the cedars of Lebanon, which he has planted;
17 illic passeres nidificabunt erodii domus dux est eorum
where the birds make their nests. The stork makes its home in the fir trees.
18 montes excelsi cervis petra refugium erinaciis
The high mountains are for the wild goats. The rocks are a refuge for the rock badgers.
19 fecit lunam in tempora sol cognovit occasum suum
He appointed the moon for seasons. The sun knows when to set.
20 posuisti tenebras et facta est nox in ipsa pertransibunt omnes bestiae silvae
You make darkness, and it is night, in which all the animals of the forest prowl.
21 catuli leonum rugientes ut rapiant et quaerant a Deo escam sibi
The young lions roar after their prey, and seek their food from God.
The sun rises, and they steal away, and lie down in their dens.
Man goes forth to his work, to his labor until the evening.
Jehovah, how many are your works. In wisdom have you made them all. The earth is full of your riches.
There is the sea, great and wide, in which are innumerable living things, both small and large animals.
26 illic naves pertransibunt draco iste quem formasti ad inludendum ei
There the ships go, and leviathan, whom you formed to play there.
27 omnia a te expectant ut des illis escam in tempore
All of them look to you to give them their food at the proper time.
28 dante te illis colligent aperiente te manum tuam omnia implebuntur bonitate
You give to them; they gather. You open your hand; they are satisfied with good.
You hide your face: they are troubled; you take away their breath: they die, and return to the dust.
30 emittes spiritum tuum et creabuntur et renovabis faciem terrae
You send forth your Spirit: they are created. You renew the face of the ground.
31 sit gloria Domini in saeculum laetabitur Dominus in operibus suis
Let the glory of Jehovah endure forever. Let Jehovah rejoice in his works.
He looks at the earth, and it trembles. He touches the mountains, and they smoke.
33 cantabo Domino in vita mea psallam Deo meo quamdiu sum
I will sing to Jehovah all my life. I will sing praise to my God as long as I exist.
34 iucundum sit ei eloquium meum ego vero delectabor in Domino
Let your meditation be sweet to him. I will rejoice in Jehovah.
Let sinners be consumed out of the earth. Let the wicked be no more. Bless Jehovah, my soul. Praise JAH.
