1 qui diligit disciplinam diligit scientiam qui autem odit increpationes insipiens est
If you love knowledge, you will love discipline. Anyone who hates being corrected is stupid!
2 qui bonus est hauriet a Domino gratiam qui autem confidit cogitationibus suis impie agit
The Lord blesses the good, but he condemns anyone with evil schemes.
3 non roborabitur homo ex impietate et radix iustorum non commovebitur
Wickedness doesn't provide security, but those who live right are deeply rooted and cannot be moved.
4 mulier diligens corona viro suo et putredo in ossibus eius quae confusione res dignas gerit
A good wife is a crown for her husband, but one who brings shame is like rot in his bones.
5 cogitationes iustorum iudicia et consilia impiorum fraudulentia
Good people make plans that are fair, but the advice of the wicked is deceptive.
6 verba impiorum insidiantur sanguini os iustorum liberabit eos
The words of the wicked are like a violent ambush, but those of honest people save them.
7 verte impios et non erunt domus autem iustorum permanebit
The wicked are destroyed, and they're gone, but the family of the good stands firm.
8 doctrina sua noscetur vir qui autem vanus et excors est patebit contemptui
People are appreciated for talking sense, but those with perverted minds are despised.
9 melior est pauper et sufficiens sibi quam gloriosus et indigens pane
Better to be a humble man serving himself than a boastful man who has nothing to eat.
10 novit iustus animas iumentorum suorum viscera autem impiorum crudelia
Good people look after their animals, but the care given by wicked is really cruelty.
11 qui operatur terram suam saturabitur panibus qui autem sectatur otium stultissimus est
If you cultivate the land you'll have plenty of food, but if you chase after worthless things you're stupid.
12 desiderium impii munimentum est pessimorum radix autem iustorum proficiet
Wicked people long for ill-gotten gains, but good people are productive themselves.
13 propter peccata labiorum ruina proximat malo effugiet autem iustus de angustia
The wicked trap themselves by their own sinful words, but good people escape trouble.
14 de fructu oris sui unusquisque replebitur bonis et iuxta opera manuum suarum retribuetur ei
What you say brings you rewards, and your work returns to bless you.
15 via stulti recta in oculis eius qui autem sapiens est audit consilia
Stupid people think they're on the right track, but if you're wise you listen to advice.
16 fatuus statim indicat iram suam qui autem dissimulat iniuriam callidus est
Stupid people get angry immediately, but if you're sensible you ignore an insult.
17 qui quod novit loquitur index iustitiae est qui autem mentitur testis est fraudulentus
Whoever tells the truth is being honest, but a false witness tells lies.
18 est qui promittit et quasi gladio pungitur conscientiae lingua autem sapientium sanitas est
Some people's hasty words cut like a knife, but the words of the wise bring healing.
19 labium veritatis firmum erit in perpetuum qui autem testis est repentinus concinnat linguam mendacii
Words of truth last forever, but lies are gone in a moment.
20 dolus in corde cogitantium mala qui autem ineunt pacis consilia sequitur eos gaudium
Deceit is in the mind of those planning evil, but those who plan peace have joy.
21 non contristabit iustum quicquid ei acciderit impii autem replebuntur malo
No harm comes to the good, but trouble fills the wicked.
22 abominatio Domino labia mendacia qui autem fideliter agunt placent ei
The Lord hates liars but is happy with those who are trustworthy.
23 homo versutus celat scientiam et cor insipientium provocabit stultitiam
If you're sensible, you don't show off your knowledge, but stupid people announce their stupidity.
24 manus fortium dominabitur quae autem remissa est tributis serviet
Hard work brings leadership, but laziness brings slavery.
25 maeror in corde viri humiliabit illud et sermone bono laetificabitur
If you're anxious, you're weighed down, but an encouraging word will cheer you up.
26 qui neglegit damnum propter amicum iustus est iter autem impiorum decipiet eos
Good people look out for their friends, but the way the wicked live leads them astray.
27 non inveniet fraudulentus lucrum et substantia hominis erit auri pretium
Lazy people don't catch their prey, but if you work hard you can become rich.
28 in semita iustitiae vita iter autem devium ducit ad mortem
The path of right leads to life, it doesn't lead to death.
