1 nolite plures magistri fieri fratres mei scientes quoniam maius iudicium sumitis
hē mama bhrātaraḥ, śikṣakairasmābhi rgurutaradaṇḍō lapsyata iti jñātvā yūyam anēkē śikṣakā mā bhavata|
2 in multis enim offendimus omnes si quis in verbo non offendit hic perfectus est vir potens etiam freno circumducere totum corpus
yataḥ sarvvē vayaṁ bahuviṣayēṣu skhalāmaḥ, yaḥ kaścid vākyē na skhalati sa siddhapuruṣaḥ kr̥tsnaṁ vaśīkarttuṁ samarthaścāsti|
3 si autem equorum frenos in ora mittimus ad consentiendum nobis et omne corpus illorum circumferimus
paśyata vayam aśvān vaśīkarttuṁ tēṣāṁ vaktrēṣu khalīnān nidhāya tēṣāṁ kr̥tsnaṁ śarīram anuvarttayāmaḥ|
4 ecce et naves cum magnae sint et a ventis validis minentur circumferuntur a modico gubernaculo ubi impetus dirigentis voluerit
paśyata yē pōtā atīva br̥hadākārāḥ pracaṇḍavātaiśca cālitāstē'pi karṇadhārasya manō'bhimatād atikṣudrēṇa karṇēna vāñchitaṁ sthānaṁ pratyanuvarttantē|
5 ita et lingua modicum quidem membrum est et magna exultat ecce quantus ignis quam magnam silvam incendit
tadvad rasanāpi kṣudratarāṅgaṁ santī darpavākyāni bhāṣatē| paśya kīdr̥ṅmahāraṇyaṁ dahyatē 'lpēna vahninā|
6 et lingua ignis est universitas iniquitatis lingua constituitur in membris nostris quae maculat totum corpus et inflammat rotam nativitatis nostrae inflammata a gehenna (Geenna )
rasanāpi bhavēd vahniradharmmarūpapiṣṭapē| asmadaṅgēṣu rasanā tādr̥śaṁ santiṣṭhati sā kr̥tsnaṁ dēhaṁ kalaṅkayati sr̥ṣṭirathasya cakraṁ prajvalayati narakānalēna jvalati ca| (Geenna )
7 omnis enim natura bestiarum et volucrum et serpentium etiam ceterorum domantur et domita sunt a natura humana
paśupakṣyurōgajalacarāṇāṁ sarvvēṣāṁ svabhāvō damayituṁ śakyatē mānuṣikasvabhāvēna damayāñcakrē ca|
8 linguam autem nullus hominum domare potest inquietum malum plena veneno mortifero
kintu mānavānāṁ kēnāpi jihvā damayituṁ na śakyatē sā na nivāryyam aniṣṭaṁ halāhalaviṣēṇa pūrṇā ca|
9 in ipsa benedicimus Dominum et Patrem et in ipsa maledicimus homines qui ad similitudinem Dei facti sunt
tayā vayaṁ pitaram īśvaraṁ dhanyaṁ vadāmaḥ, tayā cēśvarasya sādr̥śyē sr̥ṣṭān mānavān śapāmaḥ|
10 ex ipso ore procedit benedictio et maledictio non oportet fratres mei haec ita fieri
ēkasmād vadanād dhanyavādaśāpau nirgacchataḥ| hē mama bhrātaraḥ, ētādr̥śaṁ na karttavyaṁ|
11 numquid fons de eodem foramine emanat dulcem et amaram aquam
prasravaṇaḥ kim ēkasmāt chidrāt miṣṭaṁ tiktañca tōyaṁ nirgamayati?
12 numquid potest fratres mei ficus olivas facere aut vitis ficus sic neque salsa dulcem potest facere aquam
hē mama bhrātaraḥ, uḍumbarataruḥ kiṁ jitaphalāni drākṣālatā vā kim uḍumbaraphalāni phalituṁ śaknōti? tadvad ēkaḥ prasravaṇō lavaṇamiṣṭē tōyē nirgamayituṁ na śaknōti|
13 quis sapiens et disciplinatus inter vos ostendat ex bona conversatione operationem suam in mansuetudine sapientiae
yuṣmākaṁ madhyē jñānī subōdhaśca ka āstē? tasya karmmāṇi jñānamūlakamr̥dutāyuktānīti sadācārāt sa pramāṇayatu|
14 quod si zelum amarum habetis et contentiones in cordibus vestris nolite gloriari et mendaces esse adversus veritatem
kintu yuṣmadantaḥkaraṇamadhyē yadi tiktērṣyā vivādēcchā ca vidyatē tarhi satyamatasya viruddhaṁ na ślāghadhvaṁ nacānr̥taṁ kathayata|
15 non est ista sapientia desursum descendens sed terrena animalis diabolica
tādr̥śaṁ jñānam ūrddhvād āgataṁ nahi kintu pārthivaṁ śarīri bhautikañca|
16 ubi enim zelus et contentio ibi inconstantia et omne opus pravum
yatō hētōrīrṣyā vivādēcchā ca yatra vēdyētē tatraiva kalahaḥ sarvvaṁ duṣkr̥tañca vidyatē|
17 quae autem desursum est sapientia primum quidem pudica est deinde pacifica modesta suadibilis plena misericordia et fructibus bonis non iudicans sine simulatione
kintūrddhvād āgataṁ yat jñānaṁ tat prathamaṁ śuci tataḥ paraṁ śāntaṁ kṣāntam āśusandhēyaṁ dayādisatphalaiḥ paripūrṇam asandigdhaṁ niṣkapaṭañca bhavati|
18 fructus autem iustitiae in pace seminatur facientibus pacem
śāntyācāribhiḥ śāntyā dharmmaphalaṁ rōpyatē|
