< Exodus 35 >

1 igitur congregata omni turba filiorum Israhel dixit ad eos haec sunt quae iussit Dominus fieri
Moses/I gathered all the Israeli people together and said to them, “This is what Yahweh has commanded you to do:
2 sex diebus facietis opus septimus dies erit vobis sanctus sabbatum et requies Domini qui fecerit opus in eo occidetur
[Each week] you may work for six days, but on the seventh day you must rest. It is a sacred day, dedicated to Yahweh. Anyone who does any work on the seventh day must be executed.
3 non succendetis ignem in omnibus habitaculis vestris per diem sabbati
Do not [even] light a fire in your homes on days of rest.”
4 et ait Moses ad omnem catervam filiorum Israhel iste est sermo quem praecepit Dominus dicens
Moses/I also said to all the Israeli people, “This is [also] what Yahweh has commanded:
5 separate apud vos primitias Domino omnis voluntarius et proni animi offerat eas Domino aurum et argentum et aes
Make offerings to Yahweh. Everyone who wants to should bring to Yahweh an offering. [These are the things that they may offer]: Gold, silver, bronze,
6 hyacinthum purpuram coccumque bis tinctum et byssum pilos caprarum
fine white linen, blue or purple or red cloth, [cloth made from] goats’ hair,
7 et pelles arietum rubricatas et ianthinas
rams’ skins that are (tanned/dyed red), fine leather made from goatskins, wood from acacia [trees],
8 ligna setthim
oil for the lamps, spices to put in the olive oil for anointing and in the sweet-smelling incense,
9 et oleum ad luminaria concinnanda et ut conficiatur unguentum et thymiama suavissimum
[valuable] onyx stones or [other] valuable stones to fasten onto the [priest’s] sacred apron and put on his sacred chest pouch.
10 lapides onychinos et gemmas ad ornatum superumeralis et rationalis
“All the skilled workers among you should come and make all the things that Yahweh has commanded:
11 quisquis vestrum est sapiens veniat et faciat quod Dominus imperavit
The Sacred Tent and its covering, its fasteners and its frames, its crossbars, its posts, its bases,
12 tabernaculum scilicet et tectum eius atque operimentum anulos et tabulata cum vectibus paxillos et bases
the sacred chest with its poles and its lid, the curtain that will separate the Holy Place from the Very Holy Place,
13 arcam et vectes propitiatorium et velum quod ante illud oppanditur
the table with the poles [for carrying it] and all the things that will be used with the table, the sacred bread that will be offered to God,
14 mensam cum vectibus et vasis et propositionis panibus
the lampstand for the lamps with all the things that will be used to take care of them, the oil for the lamps,
15 candelabrum ad luminaria sustentanda vasa illius et lucernas et oleum ad nutrimenta ignium
the altar for [burning] incense, and the poles [for carrying that altar], the oil for anointing and the sweet-smelling incense, the curtain for the entrance of the Sacred Tent,
16 altare thymiamatis et vectes oleum unctionis et thymiama ex aromatibus tentorium ad ostium tabernaculi
the altar for offering [sacrifices that will be completely] burned and its bronze grating, the poles [for carrying] that altar and all the things that will be used with it, the washbasin and its base,
17 altare holocausti et craticulam eius aeneam cum vectibus et vasis suis labrum et basim eius
the curtains [to surround] the courtyard and the posts and bases [for the posts from which to hang the curtains], the curtain for the entrance to the courtyard,
18 cortinas atrii cum columnis et basibus tentorium in foribus vestibuli
the pegs and ropes for the Sacred Tent and for the courtyard,
19 paxillos tabernaculi et atrii cum funiculis suis
and the beautiful clothes that Aaron and his sons are to wear when they do their work in the Holy Place.”
20 vestimenta quorum usus est in ministerio sanctuarii vestes Aaron pontificis ac filiorum eius ut sacerdotio fungantur mihi
Then all the Israeli people returned [to their tents].
21 egressaque omnis multitudo filiorum Israhel de conspectu Mosi
Everyone who wanted to brought an offering to Yahweh. They brought some of the things that would be used to make the Sacred Tent and all the other items that would be used in the rituals, and the materials to make the sacred clothes [for the priests].
22 obtulit mente promptissima atque devota primitias Domino ad faciendum opus tabernaculi testimonii quicquid in cultum et ad vestes sanctas necessarium erat
All the men and women who wanted to brought gold ornaments, earrings, rings, necklaces, and many other kinds of things made of gold, and they dedicated them to Yahweh.
23 viri cum mulieribus praebuerunt armillas et inaures anulos et dextralia omne vas aureum in donaria Domini separatum est
And many [HYP] people who had blue, purple, or red cloth or fine white linen or cloth made from goats’ hair or rams’ skins that were (tanned/dyed red) or leather made from goatskins brought some of these things.
24 si quis habuit hyacinthum purpuram coccumque bis tinctum byssum et pilos caprarum pelles arietum rubricatas et ianthinas
All those who had silver or bronze brought them as offerings to Yahweh. All those who had some acacia wood that could be used for any of the work brought it.
25 argenti et aeris metalla obtulerunt Domino lignaque setthim in varios usus
All the women who were skilled to make cloth brought fine linen thread and blue, purple, or red yarn/thread that they had made/spun.
26 sed et mulieres doctae dederunt quae neverant hyacinthum purpuram et vermiculum ac byssum
And all the women who wanted to made/spun thread from goats’ hair.
27 et pilos caprarum sponte propria cuncta tribuentes
All the leaders brought valuable onyx stones and other valuable stones to be fastened to Aaron’s sacred apron and his sacred chest pouch.
28 principes vero obtulerunt lapides onychinos et gemmas ad superumerale et rationale
They also brought spices [to put in the sweet-smelling incense], and they brought olive oil for the lamps and for the oil for anointing and for putting in the sweet-smelling incense.
29 aromataque et oleum ad luminaria concinnanda et ad praeparandum unguentum ac thymiama odoris suavissimi conponendum
All the Israeli men and women who wanted to brought these things to offer them to Yahweh, for doing the work that he had commanded Moses/me to do.
30 omnes viri et mulieres mente devota obtulerunt donaria ut fierent opera quae iusserat Dominus per manum Mosi cuncti filii Israhel voluntaria Domino dedicaverunt
Moses/I said to the Israeli people, “Listen carefully. Yahweh has chosen Bezalel, the son of Uri and grandson of Hur, from the tribe of Judah.
31 dixitque Moses ad filios Israhel ecce vocavit Dominus ex nomine Beselehel filium Uri filii Hur de tribu Iuda
Yahweh has enabled his Spirit to completely control Bezalel and has given him ability and enabled him to know how to do very skilled work.
32 implevitque eum spiritu Dei sapientiae et intellegentiae et scientiae omni doctrina
He can engrave skillful designs in gold, silver, and bronze.
33 ad excogitandum et faciendum opus in auro et argento et aere sculpendisque lapidibus et opere carpentario quicquid fabre adinveniri potest
He can cut (jewels/valuable stones) and enclose them [in tiny gold frames]. He can carve things from wood and do other skilled work.
34 dedit in corde eius Hooliab quoque filium Achisamech de tribu Dan
Yahweh has also given to him and to Oholiab, the son of Ahisamach, from the tribe of Dan, the ability to teach their skills to others.
35 ambos erudivit sapientia ut faciant opera abietarii polymitarii ac plumarii de hyacintho et purpura coccoque bis tincto et bysso et texant omnia ac nova quaeque repperiant
He has given to them the ability to do all kinds of work that is done by craftsmen—those who create artistic things, those who make fine white linen, those who embroider designs using blue or purple or red yarn/thread, and those who make other cloth. They are able to do many [HYP] kinds of skillful work.
