< Psalmorum 47 >
1 Psalmus David, in finem, pro filiis Core. Omnes Gentes plaudite manibus: iubilate Deo in voce exultationis.
“To the chief musician, a psalm for the sons of Korach.” All ye people, clap your hands; shout unto God with the voice of triumph.
2 Quoniam Dominus excelsus, terribilis: Rex magnus super omnem terram.
For the Lord is most high, fear-inspiring; he is a great king over all the earth.
3 Subiecit populos nobis: et gentes sub pedibus nostris.
He will subdue people under us, and nations under our feet.
4 Elegit nobis hereditatem suam: speciem Iacob, quam dilexit.
He will choose for us our inheritance, the excellency of Jacob which he loveth. (Selah)
5 Ascendit Deus in iubilo: et Dominus in voce tubae.
God ascendeth amid a triumphal shout, the Lord, amid the sound of the cornet.
6 Psallite Deo nostro, psallite: psallite Regi nostro, psallite.
Sing praises to God, sing praises: sing praises unto our King, sing praises.
7 Quoniam Rex omnis terrae Deus: psallite sapienter.
For God is King of all the earth: sing ye praises with understanding.
8 Regnabit Deus super gentes: Deus sedet super sedem sanctam suam.
God reigneth over the nations; God sitteth upon his holy throne.
9 Principes populorum congregati sunt cum Deo Abraham: quoniam dii fortes terrae, vehementer elevati sunt.
The nobles of the people are gathered together, [to be with] the people of the God of Abraham; for unto God belong the shields of the earth: he is greatly exalted.
