< Psalmorum 24 >

1 Psalmus David, Prima sabbathi. Domini est terra, et plenitudo eius: orbis terrarum, et universi, qui habitant in eo.
Of David. A psalm. The earth is the Lord’s and all that it holds, the world and those who live in it.
2 Quia ipse super maria fundavit eum: et super flumina praeparavit eum.
For he founded it on the seas, and on the floods he sustains it.
3 Quis ascendet in montem Domini? aut quis stabit in loco sancto eius?
Who may ascend the hill of the Lord? Who may stand in his holy place?
4 Innocens manibus et mundo corde, qui non accepit in vano animam suam, nec iuravit in dolo proximo suo.
The clean of hands, the pure of heart, who sets not their heart upon sinful things, nor swears with intent to deceive:
5 Hic accipiet benedictionem a Domino: et misericordiam a Deo salutari suo.
they win from the Lord a blessing: God is their champion and savior.
6 Haec est generatio quaerentium eum, quaerentium faciem Dei Iacob.
Such must be those who resort to him, and seek the face of the God of Jacob. (Selah)
7 Attollite portas principes vestras, et elevamini portae aeternales: et introibit rex gloriae.
Lift high your heads, you gates – Higher, you ancient doors; welcome the glorious king.
8 Quis est iste rex gloriae? Dominus fortis et potens: Dominus potens in praelio.
“Who is the glorious king?” “The Lord strong and heroic, the Lord heroic in battle.”
9 Attollite portas principes vestras, et elevamini portae aeternales: et introibit rex gloriae.
Lift high your heads, you gates – Higher, you ancient doors; welcome the glorious king.
10 Quis est iste rex gloriae? Dominus virtutum ipse est rex gloriae.
“Who is the glorious king?” “The Lord, the God of hosts, he is the glorious king.” (Selah)
