< Psalmorum 123 >
1 Canticum graduum. Ad te levavi oculos meos, qui habitas in caelis.
[A Song of Ascents.] To you I do lift up my eyes, you who sit in the heavens.
2 Ecce sicut oculi servorum, in manibus dominorum suorum, Sicut oculi ancillae in manibus dominae suae: ita oculi nostri ad Dominum Deum nostrum donec misereatur nostri.
Look, as the eyes of servants look to the hand of their master, as the eyes of a maid to the hand of her mistress; so our eyes look to the LORD, our God, until he has mercy on us.
3 Miserere nostri Domine, miserere nostri: quia multum repleti sumus despectione:
Have mercy on us, LORD, have mercy on us, for we have endured much contempt.
4 Quia multum repleta est anima nostra: opprobrium abundantibus, et despectio superbis.
Our soul is exceedingly filled with the scoffing of those who are at ease, with the contempt of the proud.
