1 Et egressa est sors secunda filiorum Simeon per cognationes suas: fuitque hereditas
And the second heritage came out for the tribe of Simeon by their families; and their heritage was in the middle of the heritage of the children of Judah.
2 eorum in medio possessionis filiorum Iuda: Bersabee et Sabee et Molada
And they had for their heritage Beer-sheba and Shema and Moladah
3 et Hasersual, Bala et Asem
And Hazar-shual and Balah and Ezem
4 et Eltholad, Bethul et Harma
And Eltolad and Bethul and Hormah
5 et Siceleg et Bethmarchaboth et Hasersusa
And Ziklag and Beth-marcaboth and Hazar-susah
6 et Bethlebaoth et Sarohen: civitates tredecim, et villae earum.
And Beth-lebaoth and Sharuhen; thirteen towns with their unwalled places;
7 Ain et Remmon et Athar et Asan: civitates quattuor, et villae earum:
Ain, Rimmon, and Ether and Ashan; four towns with their unwalled places;
8 omnes viculi per circuitum urbium istarum usque ad Baalath Beer Ramath contra australem plagam. Haec est hereditas filiorum Simeon iuxta cognationes suas,
And all the unwalled places round about these towns as far as Baalath-beer-ramah to the south. This is the heritage of the tribe of Simeon by their families.
9 in possessione et funiculo filiorum Iuda: quia maior erat. et idcirco filii Simeon possederunt in medio hereditatis eorum.
The heritage of Simeon was taken out of Judah's stretch of land, for Judah's part was more than they had need of, so the heritage of the children of Simeon was inside their heritage.
10 Ceciditque sors tertia filiorum Zabulon per cognationes suas: factus est terminus possessionis eorum usque Sarid.
And the third heritage came out for Zebulun by their families; the limit of their heritage was as far as Sarid;
11 Ascenditque de Mari et Medalaa, et pervenit in Debbaseth, usque ad torrentem qui est contra Ieconam.
And their limit goes up to the west to Maralah, stretching to Dabbesheth, and to the stream in front of Jokneam;
12 Et revertitur de Sared contra Orientem in fines Ceseleththabor: et egreditur ad Dabereth, ascenditque contra Iaphie.
Then turning east from Sarid to the limit of Chisloth-tabor, it goes out to Daberath, and up to Japhia;
13 Et inde pertransit usque ad orientalem plagam Gethhepher et Thacasin: et egreditur in Remmon, Amthar et Noa.
And from there it goes on east to Gath-hepher, to Eth-kazin; ending at Rimmon which goes as far as Neah;
14 Et circuit ad Aquilonem Hanathon: suntque egressus eius Vallis Iephthael,
And the line goes round it on the north to Hannathon, ending at the valley of Iphtah-el;
15 et Cateth et Naalol et Semeron et Iedala et Bethlehem: civitates duodecim, et villae earum.
And Kattath and Nahalal and Shimron and Idalah and Beth-lehem; twelve towns with their unwalled places.
16 Haec est hereditas tribus filiorum Zabulon per cognationes suas, urbes et viculi earum.
This is the heritage of the children of Zebulun by their families, these towns with their unwalled places.
17 Issachar egressa est sors quarta per cognationes suas.
For Issachar the fourth heritage came out, for the children of Issachar by their families;
18 fuitque eius hereditas Iezrael et Casaloth et Sunem
And their limit was to Jezreel and Chesulloth and Shunem
19 et Hapharaim et Seon, et Anaharath
And Hapharaim and Shion and Anaharath
20 et Rabboth et Cesion, Abes,
And Rabbith and Kishion and Ebez
21 et Rameth, et Engannim, et Enhadda et Bethpheses.
And Remeth and En-gannim and En-haddah and Beth-pazzez;
22 Et pervenit terminus eius usque Thabor et Sehesima et Bethsames: eruntque exitus eius Iordanis: civitates sedecim, et villae earum.
And their limit goes as far as Tabor and Shahazimah and Beth-shemesh, ending at Jordan; sixteen towns with their unwalled places.
23 Haec est possessio filiorum Issachar per cognationes suas, urbes, et viculi earum.
This is the heritage of the tribe of the children of Issachar by their families, these towns with their unwalled places.
24 Ceciditque sors quinta tribui filiorum Aser per cognationes suas:
And the fifth heritage came out for the tribe of Asher by their families.
25 fuitque terminus eorum Halcath et Chali et Beten et Axaph
And their limit was Helkath and Hali and Beten and Achshaph
26 et Elmelech et Amaad et Messal: et pervenit usque ad Carmelum maris et Sihor et Labanath.
And Alammelech and Amad and Mishal, stretching to Carmel on the west and Shihor-libnath;
27 Ac revertitur contra orientem Bethdagon: et pertransit usque Zabulon et Vallem Iephthael contra Aquilonem in Bethemec et Nehiel. Egrediturque ad laevam Cabul,
Turning to the east to Beth-dagon and stretching to Zebulun and the valley of Iphtah-el as far as Beth-emek and Neiel to the north; on the left it goes as far as Cabul
28 et Abran et Rohob et Hamon et Cana, usque ad Sidonem magnam.
And Ebron and Rehob and Hammon and Kanah, to great Zidon;
29 revertiturque in Horma usque ad civitatem munitissimam Tyrum, et usque Hosa: eruntque exitus eius in mare de funiculo Achziba:
And the limit goes round to Ramah and the walled town of Tyre and Hosah, ending at the sea by Heleb and Achzib;
30 et Amma et Aphec et Rohob. civitates viginti duae, et villae earum.
And Ummah and Aphek and Rehob; twenty-two towns with their unwalled places.
31 Haec est possessio filiorum Aser per cognationes suas, urbesque et viculi earum.
This is the heritage of the tribe of the children of Asher by their families, these towns with their unwalled places.
32 Filiorum Nephthali sexta sors cecidit per familias suas:
For the children of Naphtali the sixth heritage came out, for the children of Naphtali by their families;
33 et coepit terminus de Heleph et Elon in Saananim, et Adami, quae est Neceb, et Iebnael usque Lecum: et egressus eorum usque ad Iordanem:
And their limit was from Heleph, from the oak-tree in Zaanannim, and Adami-hannekeb and Jabneel, as far as Lakkum, ending at Jordan;
34 revertiturque terminus contra Occidentem in Azanotthabor, atque inde egreditur in Hucuca, et pertransit in Zabulon contra Meridiem, et in Aser contra Occidentem, et in Iuda ad Iordanem contra ortum solis.
And turning west to Aznoth-tabor, the limit goes out from there to Hukkok, stretching to Zebulun on the south, and Asher on the west, and Judah at Jordan on the east.
35 civitates munitissimae, Assedim, Ser, et Emath, et Reccath et Cenereth,
And the walled towns are Ziddim, Zer, and Hammath, Rakkath, and Chinnereth
36 et Edema et Arama, Asor
And Adamah and Ramah and Hazor
37 et Cedes et Edrai, Enhasor
And Kedesh and Edrei and En-Hazor
38 et Ieron et Magdalel, Horem et Bethanath et Bethsames: civitates decem et novem, et villae earum.
And Iron and Migdal-el, Horem and Beth-anath and Beth-shemesh; nineteen towns with their unwalled places.
39 Haec est possessio tribus filiorum Nephthali per cognationes suas, urbes et viculi earum.
This is the heritage of the tribe of the children of Naphtali by their families, these towns with their unwalled places.
40 Tribui filiorum Dan per familias suas egressa est sors septima:
For the tribe of Dan by their families the seventh heritage came out;
41 et fuit terminus possessionis eius Sara et Esthaol, et Hirsemes, id est civitas solis.
And the limit of their heritage was Zorah and Eshtaol and Ir-shemesh
42 Selebin et Aialon et Iethela,
And Shaalabbin and Aijalon and Ithlah
43 Elon et Themna et Acron,
And Elon and Timnah and Ekron
44 Elthece, Gebbethon et Balaath,
And Eltekeh and Gibbethon and Baalath
45 et Iud et Bane et Barach et Gethremmon:
And Jehud and Bene-berak and Gath-rimmon;
46 et Meiarcon et Arecon, cum termino qui respicit Ioppen,
And on the west was ... opposite Joppa.
47 et ipso fine concluditur. Ascenderuntque filii Dan, et pugnaverunt contra Lesem, ceperuntque eam: et percusserunt eam in ore gladii, et possederunt, et habitaverunt in ea, vocantes nomen eius Lesem Dan, ex nomine Dan patris sui.
(But the limit of the children of Dan was not wide enough for them; so the children of Dan went up and made war on Leshem and took it, putting it to the sword without mercy, and they took it for their heritage and made a place for themselves there, giving it the name of Leshem-dan, after the name of their father, Dan.)
48 Haec est possessio tribus filiorum Dan, per cognationes suas, urbes et viculi earum.
This is the heritage of the tribe of the children of Dan by their families, these towns with their unwalled places.
49 Cumque complesset sorte dividere Terram singulis per tribus suas, dederunt filii Israel possessionem Iosue filio Nun in medio sui,
So the distribution of the land and its limits was complete; and the children of Israel gave Joshua, the son of Nun, a heritage among them;
50 iuxta praeceptum Domini, urbem quam postulavit, Thamnath Saraa in monte Ephraim: et aedificavit civitatem, habitavitque in ea.
By the orders of the Lord they gave him the town for which he made request, Timnath-serah in the hill-country of Ephraim: there, after building the town, he made his living-place.
51 Hae sunt possessiones, quas sorte diviserunt Eleazar sacerdos, et Iosue filius Nun, et principes familiarum, ac tribuum filiorum Israel in Silo, coram Domino ad ostium tabernaculi testimonii, partitique sunt Terram.
These are the heritages which Eleazar the priest and Joshua, the son of Nun, and the heads of families of the tribes of the children of Israel gave out at Shiloh, by the decision of the Lord, at the door of the Tent of meeting. So the distribution of the land was complete.
