< Jeremiæ 46 >

1 Quod factum est verbum Domini ad Ieremiam prophetam contra Gentes
Which it came [the] word of Yahweh to Jeremiah the prophet on the nations.
2 ad Aegyptum adversum exercitum Pharaonis Nechao regis Aegypti, qui erat iuxta fluvium Euphraten in Charcamis, quem percussit Nabuchodonosor rex Babylonis, in quarto anno Ioakim filii Iosiae regis Iuda.
Of Egypt on [the] army of Pharaoh Necho [the] king of Egypt which it was at [the] river of Euphrates at Carchemish which he struck down Nebuchadnezzar [the] king of Babylon in [the] year fourth of Jehoiakim [the] son of Josiah [the] king of Judah.
3 Praeparate scutum, et clypeum, et procedite ad bellum.
Set in order shield and body shield and draw near for battle.
4 Iungite equos, et ascendite equites: state in galeis, polite lanceas, induite vos loricis.
Harness the horses and mount the warhorses and take your stand with helmets polish the spears put on the armor.
5 Quid igitur? vidi ipsos pavidos, et terga vertentes, fortes eorum caesos: fugerunt conciti, nec respexerunt: terror undique, ait Dominus.
Why? have I seen they [will be] terrified [they will be] turned back backwards and warriors their they will be crushed and flight they will flee and not they will turn back terror [will be] from round about [the] utterance of Yahweh.
6 Non fugiat velox, nec salvari se putet fortis: Ad Aquilonem iuxta flumen Euphraten victi sunt, et ruerunt.
May not he flee the swift [one] and may not he escape the warrior north-ward on [the] side of [the] river of Euphrates they will stumble and they will fall.
7 Quis est iste, qui quasi flumen ascendit: et veluti fluviorum, intumescunt gurgites eius?
Who? [is] this [who] like the River he rises like rivers they surge waters his.
8 Aegyptus, fluminis instar ascendit, et velut flumina movebuntur fluctus eius, et dicet: Ascendens operiam terram: perdam civitatem, et habitatores eius.
Egypt like the River it rises and like rivers they surge waters and it has said I will rise I will cover [the] earth I will destroy a city and [the] inhabitants in it.
9 Ascendite equos, et exultate in curribus, et procedant fortes, Aethiopia, et Libyes tenentes scutum, et Lydii arripientes, et iacientes sagittas.
Go up O horses and drive madly O chariotry so they may go forth the warriors Cush and Put [who] wield a shield and Ludites [who] wield [those who] bend a bow.
10 Dies autem ille Domini Dei exercituum dies ultionis, ut sumat vindictam de inimicis suis: devorabit gladius, et saturabitur, et inebriabitur sanguine eorum: victima enim Domini Dei exercituum in Terra Aquilonis iuxta flumen Euphraten.
And the day that [belongs] to [the] Lord Yahweh of hosts a day of vengeance to avenge himself from opponents his and it will devour [the] sword and it will be satisfied and it will take its fill from blood their for a sacrifice of [the] Lord Yahweh of hosts [will be] in [the] land of [the] north to [the] river of Euphrates.
11 Ascende in Galaad, et tolle resinam virgo filia Aegypti: frustra multiplicas medicamina, sanitas non erit tibi.
Go up Gilead and acquire balm O virgin of [the] daughter of Egypt for vanity (you have multiplied *Q(K)*) remedies [is] healing there not for you.
12 Audierunt Gentes ignominiam tuam, et ululatus tuus replevit terram: quia fortis impegit in fortem, et ambo pariter conciderunt.
They will hear nations shame your and outcry your it will be full the earth for warrior over warrior they will stumble together they will fall both of them.
13 Verbum quod locutus est Dominus ad Ieremiam prophetam, super eo quod venturus esset Nabuchodonosor rex Babylonis et percussurus Terram Aegypti:
The word which he spoke Yahweh to Jeremiah the prophet of [the] coming of Nebuchadnezzar [the] king of Babylon to strike [the] land of Egypt.
14 Annunciate Aegypto, et auditum facite in Magdalo, et resonet in Memphis, et in Taphnis, dicite: Sta, et praepara te: quia devorabit gladius ea, quae per circuitum tuum sunt.
Declare in Egypt and make a proclamation in Migdol and make a proclamation in Memphis and in Tahpanhes say take your stand and prepare yourself for it will devour [the] sword around you.
15 Quare computruit fortis tuus? non stetit: quoniam Dominus subvertit eum.
Why? will he be prostrated mighty [ones] your not he will stand for Yahweh he will push him.
16 Multiplicavit ruentes, ceciditque vir ad proximum suum: et dicent: Surge, et revertamur ad populum nostrum, et ad terram nativitatis nostrae, a facie gladii columbae.
He will multiply [one who] stumbles also he will fall each to neighbor his and they said arise! - so let us return to people our and to [the] land of kindred our because of [the] sword of the oppressor.
17 Vocate nomen Pharaonis regis Aegypti, tumultum adduxit tempus.
People will call out there Pharaoh [the] king of Egypt [is] a noise he has let pass by the appointed time.
18 Vivo ego (inquit rex, Dominus exercituum nomen eius) quoniam sicut Thabor in montibus, et sicut Carmelus in mari, veniet.
[by] [the] life Of me [the] utterance of the king [is] Yahweh of hosts name his that like Tabor among the mountains and like Carmel at the sea he will come.
19 Vasa transmigrationis fac tibi habitatrix filia Aegypti: quia Memphis in solitudinem erit, et deseretur, et inhabitabilis erit.
Baggage of exile make for yourself O inhabitant[s] [the] daughter of Egypt for Memphis a waste it will become and it will be made desolate from not inhabitant.
20 Vitula elegans atque formosa Aegyptus: stimulator ab Aquilone veniet ei.
[is] a heifer Beautifully beautiful Egypt a gadfly from [the] north [is] about to come [is] about to come.
21 Mercenarii quoque eius, qui versabantur in medio eius, quasi vituli saginati versi sunt, et fugerunt simul, nec stare potuerunt: quia dies interfectionis eorum venit super eos, tempus visitationis eorum.
Also hired soldiers its in midst its [are] like calves of [the] stall for also they they will turn they will flee together not they will stand their ground for [the] day of disaster their it will come on them [the] time of punishment their.
22 Vox eius quasi aeris sonabit: quoniam cum exercitu properabunt, et cum securibus venient ei, quasi caedentes ligna.
Sound its [is] like snake [which] it goes for with an army they will come and with axes they will come to it like cutters of wood.
23 Succiderunt saltum eius, ait Dominus, qui supputari non potest: multiplicati sunt super locustas, et non est eis numerus.
They will cut down forest its [the] utterance of Yahweh that not it will be searched for they will be many more than locust[s] and not [belonged] to them number.
24 Confusa est filia Aegypti, et tradita in manu populi Aquilonis.
It will be put to shame [the] daughter of Egypt it will be given in [the] hand of [the] people of [the] north.
25 Dixit Dominus exercituum Deus Israel: Ecce ego visitabo super tumultum Alexandriae, et super Pharaonem, et super Aegyptum, et super deos eius, et super reges eius, et super Pharaonem, et super eos, qui confidunt in eo.
He says Yahweh of hosts [the] God of Israel here I [am] about to visit [judgment] to Amon from Thebes and on Pharaoh and on Egypt and on gods its and on kings its and on Pharaoh and on the [ones who] trust in him.
26 Et dabo eos in manu quaerentium animam eorum, et in manu Nabuchodonosor regis Babylonis, et in manu servorum eius: et post haec habitabitur sicut diebus pristinis, ait Dominus.
And I will give them in [the] hand of [those who] seek life their and in [the] hand of Nebuchadnezzar [the] king of Babylon and in [the] hand of servants his and after thus it will settle like days of antiquity [the] utterance of Yahweh.
27 Et tu ne timeas serve meus Iacob, et ne paveas Israel: quia ecce ego salvum te faciam de longinquo, et semen tuum de terra captivitatis tuae: et revertetur Iacob, et requiescet, et prosperabitur: et non erit qui exterreat eum.
And you may not you fear O servant my Jacob and may not you be dismayed O Israel for here I [am] about to save you from a distant [land] and offspring your from [the] land of captivity their and he will return Jacob and he will be undisturbed and he will be at ease and there not [will be one who] terrifies.
28 Et tu noli timere serve meus Iacob, ait Dominus: quia tecum ego sum, quia ego consumam cunctas gentes, ad quas eieci te: te vero non consumam, sed castigabo te in iudicio, nec quasi innocenti parcam tibi.
You may not you fear O servant my Jacob [the] utterance of Yahweh that [am] with you I that I will make complete destruction on all the nations - where I have driven away you there towards and you not I will make complete destruction and I will discipline you to justice and certainly not I will leave unpunished you.
