1 Umbram enim habens lex futurorum bonorum, non ipsam imaginem rerum: per singulos annos eisdem ipsis hostiis, quas offerunt indesinenter, numquam potest accedentes perfectos facere:
vyavasthā bhaviṣyanmaṅgalānāṁ chāyāsvarūpā na ca vastūnāṁ mūrttisvarūpā tatō hētō rnityaṁ dīyamānairēkavidhai rvārṣikabalibhiḥ śaraṇāgatalōkān siddhān karttuṁ kadāpi na śaknōti|
2 alioquin cessassent offerri: ideo quod nullam haberent ultra conscientiam peccati, cultores semel mundati:
yadyaśakṣyat tarhi tēṣāṁ balīnāṁ dānaṁ kiṁ na nyavarttiṣyata? yataḥ sēvākāriṣvēkakr̥tvaḥ pavitrībhūtēṣu tēṣāṁ kō'pi pāpabōdhaḥ puna rnābhaviṣyat|
3 sed in ipsis commemoratio peccatorum per singulos annos fit.
kintu tai rbalidānaiḥ prativatsaraṁ pāpānāṁ smāraṇaṁ jāyatē|
4 impossibile enim est sanguine taurorum et hircorum auferri peccata.
yatō vr̥ṣāṇāṁ chāgānāṁ vā rudhirēṇa pāpamōcanaṁ na sambhavati|
5 Ideo ingrediens mundum dicit: Hostiam, et oblationem noluisti: corpus autem aptasti mihi:
ētatkāraṇāt khrīṣṭēna jagat praviśyēdam ucyatē, yathā, "nēṣṭvā baliṁ na naivēdyaṁ dēhō mē nirmmitastvayā|
6 holocaustomata pro peccato non tibi placuerunt.
na ca tvaṁ balibhi rhavyaiḥ pāpaghnai rvā pratuṣyasi|
7 Tunc dixi: Ecce venio: in capite libri scriptum est de me: Ut faciam, Deus, voluntatem tuam.
avādiṣaṁ tadaivāhaṁ paśya kurvvē samāgamaṁ| dharmmagranthasya sargē mē vidyatē likhitā kathā| īśa manō'bhilāṣastē mayā sampūrayiṣyatē|"
8 Superius dicens: Quia hostias, et oblationes, et holocaustomata pro peccato noluisti, nec placita sunt tibi, quae secundum legem offeruntur,
ityasmin prathamatō yēṣāṁ dānaṁ vyavasthānusārād bhavati tānyadhi tēnēdamuktaṁ yathā, balinaivēdyahavyāni pāpaghnañcōpacārakaṁ, nēmāni vāñchasi tvaṁ hi na caitēṣu pratuṣyasīti|
9 tunc dixi: Ecce venio, ut faciam, Deus, voluntatem tuam: aufert primum, ut sequens statuat.
tataḥ paraṁ tēnōktaṁ yathā, "paśya manō'bhilāṣaṁ tē karttuṁ kurvvē samāgamaṁ;" dvitīyam ētad vākyaṁ sthirīkarttuṁ sa prathamaṁ lumpati|
10 In qua voluntate sanctificati sumus per oblationem corporis Iesu Christi semel.
tēna manō'bhilāṣēṇa ca vayaṁ yīśukhrīṣṭasyaikakr̥tvaḥ svaśarīrōtsargāt pavitrīkr̥tā abhavāma|
11 Et omnis quidem sacerdos praesto est quotidie ministrans, et easdem saepe offerens hostias, quae numquam possunt auferre peccata:
aparam ēkaikō yājakaḥ pratidinam upāsanāṁ kurvvan yaiśca pāpāni nāśayituṁ kadāpi na śakyantē tādr̥śān ēkarūpān balīn punaḥ punarutsr̥jan tiṣṭhati|
12 hic autem unam pro peccatis offerens hostiam, in sempiternum sedet in dextera Dei,
kintvasau pāpanāśakam ēkaṁ baliṁ datvānantakālārtham īśvarasya dakṣiṇa upaviśya
13 de cetero expectans donec ponantur inimici eius scabellum pedum eius.
yāvat tasya śatravastasya pādapīṭhaṁ na bhavanti tāvat pratīkṣamāṇastiṣṭhati|
14 Una enim oblatione, consummavit in sempiternum sanctificatos.
yata ēkēna balidānēna sō'nantakālārthaṁ pūyamānān lōkān sādhitavān|
15 Contestatur autem nos et Spiritus sanctus. Postquam enim dixit:
ētasmin pavitra ātmāpyasmākaṁ pakṣē pramāṇayati
16 Hoc autem testamentum, quod testabor ad illos post dies illos, dicit Dominus: Dabo leges meas in cordibus eorum, et in mentibus eorum superscribam eas:
"yatō hētōstaddināt param ahaṁ taiḥ sārddham imaṁ niyamaṁ sthirīkariṣyāmīti prathamata uktvā paramēśvarēṇēdaṁ kathitaṁ, tēṣāṁ cittē mama vidhīn sthāpayiṣyāmi tēṣāṁ manaḥsu ca tān lēkhiṣyāmi ca,
17 et peccatorum, et iniquitatum eorum iam non recordabor amplius.
aparañca tēṣāṁ pāpānyaparādhāṁśca punaḥ kadāpi na smāriṣyāmi|"
18 Ubi autem horum remissio: iam non est oblatio pro peccato.
kintu yatra pāpamōcanaṁ bhavati tatra pāpārthakabalidānaṁ puna rna bhavati|
19 Habentes itaque fratres fiduciam in introitu sanctorum in sanguine Christi,
atō hē bhrātaraḥ, yīśō rudhirēṇa pavitrasthānapravēśāyāsmākam utsāhō bhavati,
20 quam initiavit nobis viam novam, et viventem per velamen, id est, carnem suam,
yataḥ sō'smadarthaṁ tiraskariṇyārthataḥ svaśarīrēṇa navīnaṁ jīvanayuktañcaikaṁ panthānaṁ nirmmitavān,
21 et sacerdotem magnum super domum Dei:
aparañcēśvarīyaparivārasyādhyakṣa ēkō mahāyājakō'smākamasti|
22 accedamus cum vero corde in plenitudine fidei, aspersi corda a conscientia mala, et abluti corpus aqua munda,
atō hētōrasmābhiḥ saralāntaḥkaraṇai rdr̥ḍhaviśvāsaiḥ pāpabōdhāt prakṣālitamanōbhi rnirmmalajalē snātaśarīraiścēśvaram upāgatya pratyāśāyāḥ pratijñā niścalā dhārayitavyā|
23 teneamus spei nostrae confessionem indeclinabilem, (fidelis enim est qui repromisit),
yatō yastām aṅgīkr̥tavān sa viśvasanīyaḥ|
24 et consideremus invicem in provocationem charitatis, et bonorum operum:
aparaṁ prēmni satkriyāsu caikaikasyōtsāhavr̥ddhyartham asmābhiḥ parasparaṁ mantrayitavyaṁ|
25 non deserentes collectionem nostram, sicut consuetudinis est quibusdam, sed consolantes, et tanto magis quanto videritis appropinquantem diem.
aparaṁ katipayalōkā yathā kurvvanti tathāsmābhiḥ sabhākaraṇaṁ na parityaktavyaṁ parasparam upadēṣṭavyañca yatastat mahādinam uttarōttaraṁ nikaṭavartti bhavatīti yuṣmābhi rdr̥śyatē|
26 Voluntarie enim peccantibus nobis post acceptam notitiam veritatis, iam non relinquitur pro peccatis hostia,
satyamatasya jñānaprāptēḥ paraṁ yadi vayaṁ svaṁcchayā pāpācāraṁ kurmmastarhi pāpānāṁ kr̥tē 'nyat kimapi balidānaṁ nāvaśiṣyatē
27 terribilis autem quaedam expectatio iudicii, et ignis aemulatio, quae consumptura est adversarios.
kintu vicārasya bhayānakā pratīkṣā ripunāśakānalasya tāpaścāvaśiṣyatē|
28 Irritam quis faciens legem Moysi, sine ulla miseratione duobus vel tribus testibus moritur:
yaḥ kaścit mūsasō vyavasthām avamanyatē sa dayāṁ vinā dvayōstisr̥ṇāṁ vā sākṣiṇāṁ pramāṇēna hanyatē,
29 quanto magis putatis deteriora mereri supplicia qui filium Dei conculcaverit, et sanguinem testamenti pollutum duxerit, in quo sanctificatus est, et spiritui gratiae contumeliam fecerit?
tasmāt kiṁ budhyadhvē yō jana īśvarasya putram avajānāti yēna ca pavitrīkr̥tō 'bhavat tat niyamasya rudhiram apavitraṁ jānāti, anugrahakaram ātmānam apamanyatē ca, sa kiyanmahāghōrataradaṇḍasya yōgyō bhaviṣyati?
30 Scimus enim qui dixit: Mihi vindictam, et ego retribuam. Et iterum: Quia iudicabit Dominus populum suum.
yataḥ paramēśvaraḥ kathayati, "dānaṁ phalasya matkarmma sūcitaṁ pradadāmyahaṁ|" punarapi, "tadā vicārayiṣyantē parēśēna nijāḥ prajāḥ|" idaṁ yaḥ kathitavān taṁ vayaṁ jānīmaḥ|
31 Horrendum est incidere in manus Dei viventis.
amarēśvarasya karayōḥ patanaṁ mahābhayānakaṁ|
32 Rememoramini autem pristinos dies, in quibus illuminati, magnum certamen sustinuistis passionum:
hē bhrātaraḥ, pūrvvadināni smarata yatastadānīṁ yūyaṁ dīptiṁ prāpya bahudurgatirūpaṁ saṁgrāmaṁ sahamānā ēkatō nindāklēśaiḥ kautukīkr̥tā abhavata,
33 et in altero quidem opprobriis, et tribulationibus spectaculum facti: in altero autem socii taliter conversantium effecti.
anyataśca tadbhōgināṁ samāṁśinō 'bhavata|
34 Nam et vinctis compassi estis, et rapinam bonorum vestrorum cum gaudio suscepistis, cognoscentes vos habere meliorem, et manentem substantiam.
yūyaṁ mama bandhanasya duḥkhēna duḥkhinō 'bhavata, yuṣmākam uttamā nityā ca sampattiḥ svargē vidyata iti jñātvā sānandaṁ sarvvasvasyāpaharaṇam asahadhvañca|
35 Nolite itaque amittere confidentiam vestram, quae magnam habet remunerationem.
ataēva mahāpuraskārayuktaṁ yuṣmākam utsāhaṁ na parityajata|
36 Patientia enim vobis necessaria est: ut voluntatem Dei facientes, reportetis promissionem.
yatō yūyaṁ yēnēśvarasyēcchāṁ pālayitvā pratijñāyāḥ phalaṁ labhadhvaṁ tadarthaṁ yuṣmābhi rdhairyyāvalambanaṁ karttavyaṁ|
37 Adhuc enim modicum aliquantulumque, qui venturus est, veniet, et non tardabit.
yēnāgantavyaṁ sa svalpakālāt param āgamiṣyati na ca vilambiṣyatē|
38 iustus autem meus ex fide vivit. quod si subtraxerit se, non placebit animae meae.
"puṇyavān janō viśvāsēna jīviṣyati kintu yadi nivarttatē tarhi mama manastasmin na tōṣaṁ yāsyati|"
39 Nos autem non sumus subtractionis filii in perditionem, sed fidei in acquisitionem animae.
kintu vayaṁ vināśajanikāṁ dharmmāt nivr̥ttiṁ na kurvvāṇā ātmanaḥ paritrāṇāya viśvāsaṁ kurvvāmahē|
