Genesis 5
1 Hic est liber generationis Adam. In die, qua creavit Deus hominem, ad similitudinem Dei fecit illum.
This is the record of the descendants of Adam. On the day that God created mankind, he made them in his own likeness.
2 Masculum et feminam creavit eos, et benedixit illis: et vocavit nomen eorum Adam, in die quo creati sunt.
Male and female he created them. He blessed them and named them mankind when they were created.
3 Vixit autem Adam centum triginta annis: et genuit filium ad imaginem et similitudinem suam, vocavitque nomen eius Seth.
When Adam had lived 130 years, he became the father of a son in his own likeness, after his image, and he called his name Seth.
4 Et facti sunt dies Adam, postquam genuit Seth, octingenti anni: genuitque filios et filias.
After Adam became the father of Seth, he lived eight hundred years. He became the father of more sons and daughters.
5 Et factum est omne tempus quod vixit Adam, anni nongenti triginta, et mortuus est.
Adam lived 930 years, and then he died.
6 Vixit quoque Seth centum quinque annis, et genuit Enos.
When Seth had lived 105 years, he became the father of Enosh.
7 Vixitque Seth postquam genuit Enos, octingentis septem annis, genuitque filios et filias.
After he became the father of Enosh, he lived 807 years and became the father of more sons and daughters.
8 Et facti sunt omnes dies Seth nongentorum duodecim annorum, et mortuus est.
Seth lived 912 years, and then he died.
9 Vixit vero Enos nonaginta annis, et genuit Cainan.
When Enosh had lived ninety years, he became the father of Kenan.
10 Post cuius ortum vixit octingentis quindecim annis, et genuit filios, et filias.
After he became the father of Kenan, Enosh lived 815 years. He became the father of more sons and daughters.
11 Factique sunt omnes dies Enos nongenti quinque anni, et mortuus est.
Enosh lived 905 years, and then he died.
12 Vixit quoque Cainan septuaginta annis, et genuit Malaleel.
When Kenan had lived seventy years, he became the father of Mahalalel.
13 Et vixit Cainan, postquam genuit Malaleel, octingentis quadraginta annis, genuitque filios et filias.
After he became the father of Mahalalel, Kenan lived 840 years. He became the father of more sons and daughters.
14 Et facti sunt omnes dies Cainan nongenti decem anni, et mortuus est.
Kenan lived 910 years, and then he died.
15 Vixit autem Malaleel sexaginta quinque annis, et genuit Iared.
When Mahalalel had lived sixty-five years, he became the father of Jared.
16 Et vixit Malaleel postquam genuit Iared, octingentis triginta annis: et genuit filios et filias.
After he became the father of Jared, Mahalalel lived 830 years. He became the father of more sons and daughters.
17 Et facti sunt omnes dies Malaleel octingenti nonaginta quinque anni, et mortuus est.
Mahalalel lived 895 years, and then he died.
18 Vixitque Iared centum sexaginta duobus annis, et genuit Henoch.
When Jared had lived 162 years, he became the father of Enoch.
19 Et vixit Iared, postquam genuit Henoch, octingentis annis, et genuit filios et filias.
After he became the father of Enoch, Jared lived eight hundred years. He became the father of more sons and daughters.
20 Et facti sunt omnes dies Iared nongenti sexaginta duo anni, et mortuus est.
Jared lived 962 years, and then he died.
21 Porro Henoch vixit sexaginta quinque annis, et genuit Mathusalam.
When Enoch had lived sixty-five years, he became the father of Methuselah.
22 Et vixit Henoch postquam genuit Mathusalam, trecentis annis, et genuit filios et filias.
Enoch walked with God three hundred years after he became the father of Methuselah. He became the father of more sons and daughters.
23 Et facti sunt omnes dies Henoch trecenti sexaginta quinque anni.
Enoch lived 365 years.
24 Ambulavitque cum Deo, et non apparuit: quia tulit eum Deus.
Enoch walked with God, and then he was gone, for God took him.
25 Vixit quoque Mathusala centum octoginta septem annis, et genuit Lamech.
When Methuselah had lived 187 years, he became the father of Lamech.
26 Et vixit Mathusala, postquam genuit Lamech, septingentis octoginta duobus annis, et genuit filios et filias.
After he became the father of Lamech, Methuselah lived 782 years. He became the father of more sons and daughters.
27 Et facti sunt omnes dies Mathusala nongenti sexaginta novem anni, et mortuus est.
Methuselah lived 969 years. Then he died.
28 Vixit autem Lamech centum octoginta duobus annis, et genuit filium:
When Lamech had lived 182 years, he became the father of a son.
29 vocavitque nomen eius Noe, dicens: Iste consolabitur nos ab operibus et laboribus manuum nostrarum in terra, cui maledixit Dominus.
He called his name Noah, saying, “This one will give us rest from our work and from the painful labor of our hands, which we must do because of the ground that Yahweh has cursed.”
30 Vixitque Lamech, postquam genuit Noe, quingentis nonaginta quinque annis, et genuit filios et filias.
Lamech lived 595 years after he became the father of Noah. He became the father of more sons and daughters.
31 Et facti sunt omnes dies Lamech, septingenti septuaginta septem anni, et mortuus est.
Lamech lived 777 years. Then he died.
32 Noe vero cum quingentorum esset annorum, genuit Sem, Cham, et Iapheth.
After Noah had lived five hundred years, he became the father of Shem, Ham, and Japheth.
