1 Hi sunt autem provinciae filii, qui ascenderunt de captivitate, quam transtulerat Nabuchodonosor rex Babylonis in Babylonem, et reversi sunt in Ierusalem et Iuda, unusquisque in civitatem suam.
Now these are the children of the province who went up out of the captivity of the exiles, whom Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon had carried away into exile unto Babylon, and who returned unto Jerusalem and Judah, every one unto his city;

And these are those who went up from Thel-melach, Thelcharsha, Kerub, Addan, and Immer; but they could not tell their family division, and their descent, whether they were of Israel:

These sought for their family-registers, but they were not found: wherefore they were excluded, as unfit, from the priesthood.
63 Et dixit Athersatha eis ut non comederent de Sancto sanctorum, donec surgeret sacerdos doctus atque perfectus.
And the Thirshatha said unto them, that they should not eat of the most holy things, till there should stand up a priest with the Urim and Thummim.
64 Omnis multitudo quasi unus, quadraginta duo millia trecenti sexaginta:
The whole congregation together was forty and two thousand three hundred and sixty.
65 exceptis servis eorum, et ancillis, qui erant septem millia trecenti trigintaseptem: et in ipsis cantores, atque cantatrices ducenti.
Besides their men-servants and their maid-servants, of whom there were seven thousand three hundred thirty and seven: they had also two hundred singing men and singing women.
66 Equi eorum sexcenti triginta sex, muli eorum, ducenti quadragintaquinque,
Their horses were seven hundred thirty and six; their mules, two hundred forty and five;
67 cameli eorum, quadringenti trigintaquinque, asini eorum, sex millia septingenti viginti.
Their camels, four hundred thirty and five; their asses, six thousand seven hundred and twenty.
68 Et de principibus patrum, cum ingrederentur templum Domini, quod est in Ierusalem, sponte obtulerunt in domum Dei ad extruendam eam in loco suo.
And some of the chiefs of the divisions, when they came to the house of the Lord which is at Jerusalem, offered freewill gifts for the house of God to set it up in its place:
69 Secundum vires suas dederunt impensas operis, auri solidos quadraginta millia et mille, argenti mnas quinque millia, et vestes sacerdotales centum.
After their ability they gave unto the treasure for the work sixty and one thousand drachms of gold, and five thousand manehs of sliver, and one hundred coats for the priests.
70 Habitaverunt ergo Sacerdotes, et Levitae, et de populo, et cantores, et ianitores, et Nathinaei in urbibus suis, universusque Israel in civitatibus suis.
And the priests, and the Levites, and some of the people, and the singers, and the gate-keepers, and the temple-servants, dwelt in their cities, and all Israel in their cities.
