5 Filii Iapheth: Gomer, et Magog, et Madai, et Iavan, Thubal, Mosoch, Thiras.

The sons of Japheth: Gomer, and Magog, and Madai, and Javan, and Thubal, and Meshech, and Thirass.

6 Porro filii Gomer: Ascenez, et Riphath, et Thogorma.

And the sons of Gomer: Ashkenas, and Diphath, and Thogarmah.

7 Filii autem Iavan: Elisa et Tharsis, Cethim et Dodanim.

And the sons of Javan: Elishah, and Tharshishah, Kittim, and Rodanim.

8 Filii Cham: Chus, et Mesraim, et Phut, et Chanaan.

The sons of Ham: Cush, and Misrayim, Put, and Canaan.

9 Filii autem Chus: Saba, et Hevila, Sabatha, et Regma, et Sabathacha. Porro filii Regma: Saba, et Dadan.

And the sons of Cush: Seba, and Chavilah, and Sabta, and Ra'mah, and Sabtecha. And the sons of Ra'mah: Sheba, and Dedan.

10 Chus autem genuit Nemrod: iste coepit esse potens in terra.

And Cush begat Nimrod: this one began to be a mighty man upon the earth.

11 Mesraim vero genuit Ludim, et Anamim, et Laabim, et Nephtuim,

And Mizrayim begat the Ludim, and there the 'Anamim, and the Lehabim, and the Naphtuchim,

12 Phetrusim quoque, et Casluim: de quibus egressi sunt Philisthiim, et Caphtorim.

And the Pathrussim, and the Cassluchim, of whom came the Philistines, and the Caphthorim.

13 Chanaan vero genuit Sidonem primogenitum suum, Hethaeum quoque,

And Canaan begat Zidon, his first-born, and Heth.

14 et Iebusaeum, et Amorrhaeum, et Gergesaeum,

And the Jebusite, and the Emorite, and the Girgashite,

15 Hevaeumque et Aracaeum, et Sinaeum.

And the Hivite, and the Arkite, and the Sinite,

16 Aradium quoque, et Samaraeum, et Hamathaeum.

And the Arvadite, and the Zemarite, and the Chamathite.

17 Filii Sem: Aelam, et Assur, et Arphaxad, et Lud, et Aram, et Hus, et Hul, et Gether, et Mosoch.

The sons of Shem: 'Elam, and Asshur, and Arpachshad, and Lud, and Aram, and 'Uz, and Chul, and Gether, and Meshech.

18 Arphaxad autem genuit Sale, qui et ipse genuit Heber.

And Arpachshad begat Shelach, and Shelach begat 'Eber.

19 Porro Heber nati sunt duo filii, nomen uni Phaleg, quia in diebus eius divisa est terra; et nomen fratris eius Iectan.

And unto 'Eber were born two sons: the name of the one was Peleg; because in his days the earth was divided; and his brother's name was Joktan.

20 Iectan autem genuit Elmodad, et Saleph, et Asarmoth, et Iare,

And Joktan begat Almodad, and Sheleph, and Chazarmaveth, and Jerach,

21 Adoram quoque, et Huzal, et Decla,

And Hadoram, and Uzal, and Diklah,

22 Hebal etiam, et Abimael, et Saba, necnon

And 'Ebal and Abimael, and Sheba,

23 et Ophir, et Hevila, et Iobab. omnes isti filii Iectan:

And Ophir, and Chavilah, and Jobab. All these were the sons of Joktan.

24 Sem, Arphaxad, Sale,

Shem, Arpachshad, Shelach,

25 Heber, Phaleg, Ragau,

'Eber, Peleg, Re'u,

26 Serug, Nachor, Thare,

Serug, Nachor, Terach,

27 Abram, iste est Abraham.

Abram, the same is Abraham.

28 Filii autem Abraham, Isaac et Ismahel.

The sons of Abraham: Isaac, and Ishma'el.

29 Et hae generationes eorum. Primogenitus Ismahelis, Nabaioth, et Cedar, et Adbeel, et Mabsam,

These are their generations: The first-born of Ishma'el, Nebayoth, then Kedar, and Adbeel, and Mibsam,

30 et Masma, et Duma, Massa, Hadad, et Thema,

Mishma', and Dumah, Massa, Chadad, and Thema,

31 Iachur, Naphis, Cedma. hi sunt filii Ismahelis.

Jetur, Naphish, and Kedemah. These are the sons of Ishma'el.

32 Filii autem Ceturae concubinae Abraham, quos genuit: Zamran, Iecsan, Madan, Madian, Iesboc, et Sue. Porro filii Iecsan: Saba, et Dadan. Filii autem Dadan: Assurim, et Latussim, et Laomim.

And the sons of Keturah, the concubine of Abraham: she bore Zimran, and Jokshan, and Medan, and Midian, and Yishbak, and Shuach. And the sons Jokshan: Sheba, and Dedan.

33 Filii autem Madian: Epha, et Epher, et Henoch, et Abida, et Eldaa. omnes hi, filii Ceturae.

And the sons of Midian: 'Ephah, and 'Epher, and Chanoch, and Abida', and Elda'ah. All these are the sons of Keturah.

34 Genuit autem Abraham Isaac: cuius fuerunt filii Esau, et Israel.

And Abraham begat Isaac. The sons of Isaac: Esau and Israel.

35 Filii Esau: Eliphaz, Rahuel, Iehus, Ihelom, et Core.

The sons of Esau: Eliphaz, Re'uel, and Ye'ush, and Ya'lam, and Korach.

36 Filii Eliphaz: Theman, Omar, Sephi, Gathan, Cenez, Thamna, Amalec.

The sons of Eliphaz: Theman, and Omar, Zephi, and Ga'tam, Kenas, and Thimna', and 'Amalek.

37 Filii Rahuel: Nahath, Zara, Samma, Meza.

The sons of Re'uel: Nachath, Zerach, Shammah, and Mizzah.

38 Filii Seir: Lotan, Sobal, Sebeon, Ava, Dison, Eser, Disan.

And the sons of Se'ir: Lotan, and Shobal, and Zib'on, and 'Anah, and Dishon, and Ezer, and Dishan.

39 Filii Lotan: Hori, Homam. Soror autem Lotan fuit Thamna.

And the sons of Lotan: Chori, and Homam: and the sister of Lotan: Thimna'.

40 Filii Sobal: Alian, et Manahath, et Ebal, Sephi et Onam. Filii Sebeon: Aia et Ana. Filii Ana: Dison.

The sons of Shobal: 'Alyan, and Manachath, and 'Ebal, Shephi, and Onam. And the sons of Zib'on: 'Ayah, and 'Anah.

41 Filii Dison: Hamran, et Eseban et Iethran, et Charan.

The sons of 'Anah: Dishon. And the sons of Dishon: Chamran, and Eshban, and Yithran, and Cheran.

42 Filii Eser: Balaan, et Zavan, et Iacan. Filii Disan: Hus et Aran.

The sons of Ezer: Bilhan, and Za'avan, and Ja'akan. The sons of Dishan: 'Uz, and Aran.

43 Isti sunt reges, qui imperaverunt in Terra Edom antequam esset rex super filios Israel: Bale filius Beor: et nomen civitatis eius, Denaba.

And these are the kings that reigned in the land of Edom before there reigned any king over the children of Israel: Bela' the son of Be'or; and the name of his city was Dinhabah.

44 Mortuus est autem Bale, et regnavit pro eo Iobab filius Zare de Bosra.

And Bela' died, and there reigned in his stead Jobab the son of Zerach of Bozrah.

45 Cumque et Iobab fuisset mortuus, regnavit pro eo Husam de Terra Themanorum.

And Jobab died, and there reigned in his stead Chusham of the land of Theman.

46 Obiit quoque et Husam, et regnavit pro eo Adad filius Badad, qui percussit Madian in Terra Moab: et nomen civitatis eius Avith.

And Chusham died and there reigned in his stead Hadad the son of Bedad, who smote Midian in the field of Moab; and the name of his city was 'Avith.

47 Cumque et Adad fuisset mortuus, regnavit pro eo Semla de Masreca.

And Hadad died, and there reigned in his stead Samlah of Massrekah.

48 Sed et Semla mortuus est, et regnavit pro eo Saul de Rohoboth, quae iuxta amnem sita est.

And Samlah died, and there reigned in his stead Saul of Rechoboth by the river.

49 Mortuo quoque Saul, regnavit pro eo Balanan filius Achobor.

And Saul died, and there reigned in his stead Ba'al-chanan the son of 'Achbor.

50 Sed et hic mortuus est, et regnavit pro eo Adad: cuius urbis nomen fuit Phau, et appellata est uxor eius Meetabel filia Matred filiae Mezaab.

And Ba'al-chanan died, and there reigned in his stead Hadad; and the name of his city was Pa'i; and the name of his wife was Mehetabel, the daughter of Matred, the daughter of Me-zahab.

51 Adad autem mortuo, duces pro regibus in Edom esse coeperunt: dux Thamna, dux Alva, dux Ietheth,

Hadad died also. And the dukes of Edom were: Thimna', duke 'Alvah, duke Jetheth,

52 dux Oolibama, dux Ela, dux Phinon,

Duke Aholibamah, duke Elah, duke Pinon,

53 dux Cenez, dux Theman, dux Mabsar,

Duke Kenas, duke Theman, duke Mibzar,

54 dux Magdiel, dux Hiram. hi duces Edom.

Duke Magdiel, duke 'Iram. These are the dukes of Edom.
