< Psalmorum 85 >
1 In finem, filiis Core. Psalmus. Benedixisti, Domine, terram tuam; avertisti captivitatem Jacob.
Jehovah, thou have been favorable to thy land. Thou have brought back the captivity of Jacob.
2 Remisisti iniquitatem plebis tuæ; operuisti omnia peccata eorum.
Thou have forgiven the iniquity of thy people. Thou have covered all their sin. (Selah)
3 Mitigasti omnem iram tuam; avertisti ab ira indignationis tuæ.
Thou have taken away all thy wrath. Thou have turned from the fierceness of thine anger.
4 Converte nos, Deus salutaris noster, et averte iram tuam a nobis.
Turn us, O God of our salvation, and cause thine indignation toward us to cease.
5 Numquid in æternum irasceris nobis? aut extendes iram tuam a generatione in generationem?
Will thou be angry with us forever? Will thou draw out thine anger to all generations?
6 Deus, tu conversus vivificabis nos, et plebs tua lætabitur in te.
Will thou not revive us again, that thy people may rejoice in thee?
7 Ostende nobis, Domine, misericordiam tuam, et salutare tuum da nobis.
Show us thy loving kindness, O Jehovah, and grant us thy salvation.
8 Audiam quid loquatur in me Dominus Deus, quoniam loquetur pacem in plebem suam, et super sanctos suos, et in eos qui convertuntur ad cor.
I will hear what God, Jehovah, will speak, for he will speak peace to his people, and to his sanctified. But let them not turn again to folly.
9 Verumtamen prope timentes eum salutare ipsius, ut inhabitet gloria in terra nostra.
Surely his salvation is near those who fear him, that glory may dwell in our land.
10 Misericordia et veritas obviaverunt sibi; justitia et pax osculatæ sunt.
Mercy and truth are met together. Righteousness and peace have kissed each other.
11 Veritas de terra orta est, et justitia de cælo prospexit.
Truth springs out of the earth, and righteousness has looked down from heaven.
12 Etenim Dominus dabit benignitatem, et terra nostra dabit fructum suum.
Yea, Jehovah will give that which is good, and our land shall yield its increase.
13 Justitia ante eum ambulabit, et ponet in via gressus suos.
Righteousness shall go before him, and shall make his footsteps a path.
