< Psalmorum 8 >

1 In finem, pro torcularibus. Psalmus David.
[For the Chief Musician; on an instrument of Gath. A Psalm by David.] LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth. You have put your glory upon the heavens.
From the lips of children and infants you have established praise, because of your adversaries, that you might silence the enemy and the avenger.
3 Quoniam videbo cælos tuos, opera digitorum tuorum, lunam et stellas quæ tu fundasti.
When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars which you have set in place;
what is man, that you think of him, and the son of man that you care for him?
5 Minuisti eum paulominus ab angelis; gloria et honore coronasti eum;
For you have made him a little lower than the angels. You have crowned him with glory and honor,
6 et constituisti eum super opera manuum tuarum.
and you made him ruler over the works of your hands. You have put all things under his feet:
7 Omnia subjecisti sub pedibus ejus, oves et boves universas, insuper et pecora campi,
all sheep and cattle, and also the wild animals,
the birds of the sky, and the fish of the sea, whatever passes through the paths of the seas.
LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth.
