< Psalmorum 62 >

1 In finem, pro Idithun. Psalmus David. Nonne Deo subjecta erit anima mea? ab ipso enim salutare meum.
“To the chief musician, upon Jeduthun, a psalm of David.” Only in God my soul trusted in silence: from him cometh my salvation.
2 Nam et ipse Deus meus et salutaris meus; susceptor meus, non movebor amplius.
Only he is my rock and my salvation; [he is] my defense: I shall not be greatly moved.
3 Quousque irruitis in hominem? interficitis universi vos, tamquam parieti inclinato et maceriæ depulsæ.
How long will ye devise mischief against a man? will ye all assault him murderously, as though he were a falling wall, a tottering fence?
4 Verumtamen pretium meum cogitaverunt repellere; cucurri in siti: ore suo benedicebant, et corde suo maledicebant.
Yea, from his height do they take counsel to cast [him] down; they delight in lies: with their mouth do they bless, but inwardly do they curse. (Selah)
5 Verumtamen Deo subjecta esto, anima mea, quoniam ab ipso patientia mea:
Yea, in God hope in silence, my soul; for from him is my expectation.
6 quia ipse Deus meus et salvator meus, adjutor meus, non emigrabo.
Only he is my rock and my salvation; [he is] my defence: I shall not be moved.
7 In Deo salutare meum et gloria mea; Deus auxilii mei, et spes mea in Deo est.
With God are my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength [and] my protection are in God.
8 Sperate in eo, omnis congregatio populi; effundite coram illo corda vestra: Deus adjutor noster in æternum.
Trust in him at all times, O ye people; pour out before him your heart: God is a protection for us. (Selah)
9 Verumtamen vani filii hominum, mendaces filii hominum in stateris, ut decipiant ipsi de vanitate in idipsum.
Verily nought are the sons of common men, a lie the sons of the great; they must rise in the balance; they are altogether [lighter] than nought.
10 Nolite sperare in iniquitate, et rapinas nolite concupiscere; divitiæ si affluant, nolite cor apponere.
Do not put your trust in defrauding, and be not rendered vain through robbery: if riches flourish, set not your heart [upon them].
11 Semel locutus est Deus; duo hæc audivi: quia potestas Dei est,
Once hath God spoken; [yea, ] twice [what] I have heard: that strength belongeth unto God.
12 et tibi, Domine, misericordia: quia tu reddes unicuique juxta opera sua.
And unto thee, O Lord, belongeth kindness; for thou wilt recompense every man according to his works.
