1 Et egressa est sors secunda filiorum Simeon per cognationes suas: fuitque hæreditas
The second casting of lots fell to Simeon, clan by clan. Their inheritance was in the middle of the inheritance that belonged to the tribe of Judah.
2 eorum in medio possessionis filiorum Juda: Bersabee et Sabee et Molada
They had for their inheritance Beersheba, Sheba, Moladah,
3 et Hasersual, Bala et Asem
Hazar Shual, Balah, Ezem,
4 et Eltholad, Bethul et Harma
Eltolad, Bethul, and Hormah.
5 et Siceleg et Bethmarchaboth et Hasersusa
Simeon also had Ziklag, Beth Markaboth, Hazar Susah,
6 et Bethlebaoth et Sarohen: civitates tredecim, et villæ earum.
Beth Lebaoth, and Sharuhen. These were thirteen cities, including their villages.
7 Ain et Remmon et Athar et Asan: civitates quatuor, et villæ earum:
Simeon also had Ain, Rimmon, Ether, and Ashan. These were four cities, including their villages.
8 omnes viculi per circuitum urbium istarum usque ad Baalath Beer Ramath contra australem plagam. Hæc est hæreditas filiorum Simeon juxta cognationes suas,
These were together, including their the villages around these cities as far as Baalath Beer (the same as Ramah in the Negev). This was the inheritance of the tribe of Simeon, clan by clan.
9 in possessione et funiculo filiorum Juda: quia major erat, et idcirco filii Simeon possederunt in medio hæreditatis eorum.
The inheritance of the tribe of Simeon formed part of the territory of the tribe of Judah. Because the portion of land assigned to the tribe of Judah was too large for them, the tribe of Simeon received their inheritance out of the middle of their portion.
10 Ceciditque sors tertia filiorum Zabulon per cognationes suas: factus est terminus possessionis eorum usque Sarid.
The third casting of lots fell to the tribe of Zebulun, clan by clan. The border of their inheritance began at Sarid.
11 Ascenditque de mari et Merala, et pervenit in Debbaseth, usque ad torrentem qui est contra Jeconam.
Their border went up westward toward Maralah and touched Dabbesheth; then it extended to the brook that was opposite Jokneam.
12 Et revertitur de Sared contra orientem in fines Ceseleththabor: et egreditur ad Dabereth, ascenditque contra Japhie.
From Sarid the border turned eastward toward the east and went to the border of Kisloth Tabor. From there it went to Daberath and then up to Japhia.
13 Et inde pertransit usque ad orientalem plagam Gethepher et Thacasin: et egreditur in Remmon, Amthar et Noa.
From there it passed on eastward to Gath Hepher, and then to Eth Kazin; next it went to Rimmon and turned toward Neah.
14 Et circuit ad aquilonem Hanathon: suntque egressus ejus vallis Jephthaël,
The border made a turn to the north to Hannathon and ended at the Valley of Iphtah El.
15 et Cateth et Naalol et Semeron et Jerala et Bethlehem: civitates duodecim, et villæ earum.
This region included the cities of Kattath, Nahalal, Shimron, Idalah, and Bethlehem. There were twelve cities, including their villages.
16 Hæc est hæreditas tribus filiorum Zabulon per cognationes suas, urbes et viculi earum.
This was the inheritance of the tribe of Zebulun, clan by clan, including these cities, including their villages.
17 Issachar egressa est sors quarta per cognationes suas:
The fourth casting of lots fell to Issachar, clan by clan.
18 fuitque ejus hæreditas Jezraël et Casaloth et Sunem
Their territory included Jezreel, Chesulloth, Shunem,
19 et Hapharaim et Seon, et Anaharath
Hapharaim, Shion, and Anaharath.

23 Hæc est possessio filiorum Issachar per cognationes suas, urbes et viculi earum.
This was the inheritance of the tribe of Issachar, according to their clans—the cities, including their villages.
24 Ceciditque sors quinta tribui filiorum Aser per cognationes suas:
The fifth casting of lots fell to the tribe of Asher, clan by clan.
25 fuitque terminus eorum Halcath et Chali et Beten et Axaph
Their territory included Helkath, Hali, Beten, Akshaph,
26 et Elmelech et Amaad et Messal: et pervenit usque ad Carmelum maris et Sihor et Labanath,
Allammelek, Amad, and Mishall. On the west the boundary extended to Carmel and Shihor Libnath.
27 ac revertitur contra orientem Bethdagon: et pertransit usque Zabulon et vallem Jephthaël contra aquilonem in Bethemec et Nehiel. Egrediturque ad lævam Cabul,
Then it turned eastward to Beth Dagon and went as far as Zebulun, and then to the Valley of Iphtah El, northward to Beth Emek and Neiel. Then it continued on to Kabul toward the north.
28 et Abran et Rohob et Hamon et Cana, usque ad Sidonem magnam.
It then went on to Abdon, Rehob, Hammon, and Kanah, as far as Greater Sidon.
29 Revertiturque in Horma usque ad civitatem munitissimam Tyrum, et usque Hosa: eruntque exitus ejus in mare de funiculo Achziba:
The border turned back to Ramah, and then to the fortified city of Tyre. Then the border turned to Hosah and ended at the sea, in the region of Akzib,
30 et Amma et Aphec et Rohob: civitates viginti duæ, et villæ earum.
Ummah, Aphek, and Rehob. There were twenty-two cities, including their villages.
31 Hæc est possessio filiorum Aser per cognationes suas, urbesque et viculi earum.
This was the inheritance of the tribe of Asher, clan by clan—the cities, including their villages.
32 Filiorum Nephthali sexta sors cecidit per familias suas:
The sixth casting of lots fell to tribe of Naphtali, clan by clan.
33 et cœpit terminus de Heleph et Elon in Saananim, et Adami, quæ est Neceb, et Jebnaël usque Lecum: et egressus eorum usque ad Jordanem:
Their border ran from Heleph, from the oak at Zaanannim, on to Adami Nekeb and Jabneel, as far as Lakkum; it ended at the Jordan.
34 revertiturque terminus contra occidentem in Azanotthabor, atque inde egreditur in Hucuca, et pertransit in Zabulon contra meridiem, et in Aser contra occidentem, et in Juda ad Jordanem contra ortum solis:
The border turned westward to Aznoth Tabor and went on to Hukkok; it touched Zebulun on the south, and reached to Asher on the west and Judah on the east at the Jordan River.
35 civitates munitissimæ, Assedim, Ser, et Emath, et Reccath et Cenereth,
The fortified cities were Ziddim, Zer, Hammath, Rakkath, Kinnereth,
36 et Edema et Arama, Asor
Adamah, Ramah, Hazor,
37 et Cedes et Edrai, Enhasor,
Kedesh, Edrei, and En Hazor.
38 et Jeron et Magdalel, Horem et Bethanath et Bethsames: civitates decem et novem, et villæ earum.
There were also Yiron, Migdal El, Horem, Beth Anath, and Beth Shemesh. There were nineteen cities, including their villages.

40 Tribui filiorum Dan per familias suas egressa est sors septima:
The seventh casting of lots fell to the tribe of Dan, clan by clan.
41 et fuit terminus possessionis ejus Sara et Esthaol, et Hirsemes, id est, civitas solis.
The territory of its inheritance included Zorah, Eshtaol, Ir Shemesh,
42 Selebin et Ajalon et Jethela,
Shaalabbin, Aijalon, and Ithlah.
43 Elon et Themna et Acron,
It also included Elon, Timnah, Ekron,
44 Elthece, Gebbethon et Balaath,
Eltekeh, Gibbethon, Baalath,
45 et Jud et Bane et Barach et Gethremmon:
Jehud, Bene Berak, Gath Rimmon,
46 et Mejarcon et Arecon, cum termino qui respicit Joppen,

47 et ipso fine concluditur. Ascenderuntque filii Dan, et pugnaverunt contra Lesem, ceperuntque eam: et percusserunt eam in ore gladii, et possederunt, et habitaverunt in ea, vocantes nomen ejus Lesem Dan, ex nomine Dan patris sui.
When the territory of the tribe of Dan was lost to them, Dan attacked Leshem, fought against it, capturing it and striking it with the sword; taking possession of it and settled in it. They renamed Leshem, calling it Dan after their ancestor.
48 Hæc est possessio tribus filiorum Dan, per cognationes suas, urbes et viculi earum.
This was the inheritance of the tribe of Dan, clan by clan—the cities, including their villages.
49 Cumque complesset sorte dividere terram singulis per tribus suas, dederunt filii Israël possessionem Josue filio Nun in medio sui,
When they finished the allocation of the land as an inheritance, the people of Israel gave an inheritance among themselves to Joshua son of Nun.
50 juxta præceptum Domini, urbem quam postulavit Thamnath Saraa in monte Ephraim: et ædificavit civitatem, habitavitque in ea.
By the command of Yahweh they gave him the city for which he asked, Timnath Serah in the hill country of Ephraim. He rebuilt the city and lived there.
51 Hæ sunt possessiones, quas sorte diviserunt Eleazar sacerdos, et Josue filius Nun, et principes familiarum ac tribuum filiorum Israël in Silo, coram Domino ad ostium tabernaculi testimonii: partitique sunt terram.
These are the inheritances that Eleazar the priest, Joshua son of Nun, and the leaders of the tribes of the people of Israel assigned by lot at Shiloh, before Yahweh, at the entrance of the tent of meeting. So they finished assigning the land.
