< Psalmorum 122 >

1 Canticum graduum. Lætatus sum in his, quæ dicta sunt mihi: In domum Domini ibimus.
“A song of the degrees by David.” I was rejoiced when they said unto me, Unto the house of the Lord let us go.
2 Stantes erant pedes nostri, in atriis tuis Ierusalem.
Our feet are now standing within thy gates, O Jerusalem!
3 Ierusalem, quæ ædificatur ut civitas: cuius participatio eius in idipsum.
Jerusalem, which art built as a city wherein all associate together.
4 Illuc enim ascenderunt tribus, tribus Domini: testimonium Israel ad confitendum nomini Domini.
For thither go up the tribes of the Lord, as a testimony for Israel, to give thanks unto the name of the Lord.
5 Quia illic sederunt sedes in iudicio, sedes super domum David.
For there are placed chairs for [giving] judgment, the chairs for the house of David.—
6 Rogate quæ ad pacem sunt Ierusalem: et abundantia diligentibus te.
Pray ye for the peace of Jerusalem; may those that love thee prosper.
7 Fiat pax in virtute tua: et abundantia in turribus tuis.
May there be peace within thy walls, prosperity within thy palaces,
8 Propter fratres meos, et proximos meos, loquebar pacem de te:
For the sake of my brethren and my friends, let me now speak, Peace be within thee.
9 Propter domum Domini Dei nostri, quæsivi bona tibi.
For the sake of the house of the Lord our God, will I seek thy good.
