1 Locutusque est Dominus ad Moysen et Aaron dicens:
Then spake Yahweh onto Moses and onto Aaron saying:
2 Singuli per turmas, signa, atque vexilla, et domos cognationum suarum castrametabuntur filii Israel, per gyrum tabernaculi fœderis.
Every man—near his standard with the ensigns belonging to their ancestral houses, shall the sons of Israel encamp, —at a distance round about the tent of meeting, shall they encamp.
3 Ad Orientem Iudas figet tentoria per turmas exercitus sui: eritque princeps filiorum eius Nahasson filius Aminadab.
And they who encamp eastwards towards sunrise, shall be the standard of the camp of Judah by their hosts, —even the prince of the sons of Judah, Nashon, son of Amminadab;
4 et omnis de stirpe eius summa pugnantium, septuaginta quattuor millia sexcenti.
and his host, even they who are numbered of them, —seventy-four thousand and six hundred,
5 Iuxta eum castrametati sunt de tribu Issachar, quorum princeps fuit Nathanael filius Suar.
Then they who encamp by him the tribe of Issachar, —even the prince of the sons of Issachar, Nethanel, son of Zuar;
6 et omnis numerus pugnatorum eius quinquaginta quattuor millia quadringenti.
and his host even they who are numbered of them, —fifty-four thousand and four hundred.
7 In tribu Zabulon princeps fuit Eliab filius Helon.
The tribe of Zebulun, even the prince of the sons of Zebulun, Eliab, son of Helon;
8 Omnis de stirpe eius exercitus pugnatorum, quinquaginta septem millia quadringenti.
and his host, even they who are numbered of him, fifty-seven thousand and four hundred.
9 Universi qui in castris Iudæ annumerati sunt, fuerunt centum octoginta sex millia quadringenti: et per turmas suas primi egredientur.
All they who are num-bered to the camp of Judah. a hundred and eighty-six thousand four hundred, by their hosts, shall first set forward.
10 In castris filiorum Ruben ad meridianam plagam erit princeps Elisur filius Sedeur:
The standard of the camp of Reuben southwards, by their hosts, —even the prince of the sons of Reuben, Elizur son of Shedeur;
11 et cunctus exercitus pugnatorum eius qui numerati sunt, quadraginta sex millia quingenti.
and his host, even they who are numbered of him, —forty-six thousand, and five hundred.
12 Iuxta eum castrametati sunt de tribu Simeon: quorum princeps fuit Salamiel filius Surisaddai.
Then they who encamp by him, the tribe of Simeon, —even the prince of the sons of Simeon, Shelumiel son of Zurishaddai;
13 et cunctus exercitus pugnatorum eius, qui numerati sunt, quinquaginta novem millia trecenti.
and his host, even they who are numbered of them, —fifty-nine thousand and three hundred.
14 In tribu Gad princeps fuit Eliasaph filius Duel.
Then the tribe of Gad, even the prince of the sons of Gad, Eliasaph son of Reuel;
15 et cunctus exercitus pugnatorum eius, qui numerati sunt, quadraginta quinque millia sexcenti quinquaginta.
and his host, even they who are numbered of them, —forty-five thousand, and six hundred and fifty.
16 Omnes qui recensiti sunt in castris Ruben, centum quinquaginta millia et mille quadringenti quinquaginta per turmas suas: in secundo loco proficiscentur.
All they who are num-bered to the camp of Reuben, —a hundred and fifty-one thousand and four hundred and fifty, by their hosts, and they in the second rank, shall set forward.
17 Levabitur autem tabernaculum testimonii per officia Levitarum et turmas eorum. quomodo erigetur, ita et deponetur. Singuli per loca et ordines suos proficiscentur.
Then shall set forward the tent of meeting—the camp of the Levites in the midst of the camps, —as they encamp, so, shall they set forward, every man at the side thereof by their standards.
18 Ad occidentalem plagam erunt castra filiorum Ephraim, quorum princeps fuit Elisama filius Ammiud.
the standard of the camp of Ephraim, by their hosts westwards, —even the prince of the sons of Ephraim, Elishama son of Ammihud;
19 cunctus exercitus pugnatorum eius, qui numerati sunt, quadraginta millia quingenti.
and his host, even they who are numbered of them, —forty thousand, and five hundred.
20 Et cum eis tribus filiorum Manasse, quorum princeps fuit Gamaliel filius Phadassur.
Then by him, the tribe of Manasseh, even the prince of the sons of Manasseh, Gamaliel, son of Pedahzur;
21 cunctusque exercitus pugnatorum eius, qui numerati sunt, triginta duo millia ducenti.
and his host, even they who are numbered of them, —thirty-two thousand and two hundred.
22 In tribu filiorum Beniamin princeps fuit Abidan filius Gedeonis.
Then the tribe of Benjamin, even the prince of the sons of Benjamin, Abidan, son of Gideoni;
23 et cunctus exercitus pugnatorum eius, qui recensiti sunt, triginta quinque millia quadringenti.
and his host, even they who are numbered of them, —thirty-five thousand and four hundred.
24 Omnes qui numerati sunt in castris Ephraim, centum octo millia centum per turmas suas: tertii proficiscentur.
All they who are numbered to the camp of Ephraim a hundred and eight thousand and one hundred by their hosts, and they in the third rank, shall set forward.
25 Ad Aquilonis partem castrametati sunt filii Dan: quorum princeps fuit Ahiezer filius Ammisaddai.
the standard of the camp of Dan, north-wards by their hosts, even the prince of the sons of Dan, Ahiezer, son of Ammishaddai:
26 cunctus exercitus pugnatorum eius, qui numerati sunt, sexaginta duo millia septingenti.
and his host, even they who are numbered of them, —sixty-two thousand and seven hundred.
27 Iuxta eum fixere tentoria de tribu Aser: quorum princeps fuit Phegiel filius Ochran.
Then they who encamp by him the tribe of Asher, —even the prince of the sons of Asher, Pagiel, son of Ochran;
28 cunctus exercitus pugnatorum eius, qui numerati sunt, quadraginta millia et mille quingenti.
and his host, even they who are numbered of them, —forty-one thousand and five hundred.
29 De tribu filiorum Nephthali princeps fuit Ahira filius Enan.
Then the tribe of Naphtali, —even the prince of the sons of Naphtali, Ahira, son of Enan;
30 cunctus exercitus pugnatorum eius, quinquaginta tria millia quadringenti.
and his host, even they who are numbered of them, —fifty-three thousand and four hundred,
31 Omnes, qui numerati sunt in castris Dan, fuerunt centum quinquaginta septem millia sexcenti: et novissimi proficiscentur.
All they who are numbered to the camp of Dan, a hundred and fifty-seven thousand and six hundred, in the hindmost rank, shall they set forward, by their standards.
32 Hic numerus filiorum Israel, per domos cognationum suarum et turmas divisi exercitus, sexcenta tria millia quingenti quinquaginta.
These, are they who were numbered of the sons of Israel by their ancestral houses, —all they who were numbered of the camps by their hosts were six hundred and three thousand and five hundred and fifty.
33 Levitæ autem non sunt numerati inter filios Israel: sic enim præceperat Dominus Moysi.
But the Levites, were not numbered in the midst of the sons of Israel, —As Yahweh commanded Moses.
34 Feceruntque filii Israel iuxta omnia quæ mandaverat Dominus. Castrametati sunt per turmas suas, et profecti per familias ac domos patrum suorum.
Thus did the sons of Israel, —according to all that Yahweh commanded Moses, so, did they encamp by their standards, and so, did they set forward, every one by his families near his ancestral house.
