< Psalmorum 87 >
1 Filiis Core, Psalmus Cantici. Fundamenta eius in montibus sanctis:
A song. A psalm of the descendants of Korah. The Lord founded the city on his holy mountain.
2 diligit Dominus portas Sion super omnia tabernacula Iacob.
Jerusalem is the city that the Lord loves more than any other city in Israel.
3 Gloriosa dicta sunt de te, civitas Dei.
Many wonderful things are said of you, city of God! (Selah)
4 Memor ero Rahab, et Babylonis scientium me. Ecce alienigenæ, et Tyrus, et populus Æthiopum, hi fuerunt illic.
I mention Egypt and Babylon as those who know me, and in addition Philistia, Tyre, and Ethiopia—“this man was born there.”
5 Numquid Sion dicet: Homo, et homo natus est in ea: et ipse fundavit eam Altissimus?
It will be said concerning Jerusalem, “Everyone was born there,” and the Most High will make it secure.
6 Dominus narrabit in scripturis populorum, et principum: horum, qui fuerunt in ea.
When the Lord registers the nations, he will write, “They were born there.” (Selah)
7 Sicut lætantium omnium habitatio est in te.
Singers and dancers alike say, “Living here I am at home.”
