< Psalmorum 13 >

1 In finem, Psalmus David. Usquequo Domine oblivisceris me in finem? Usquequo avertis faciem tuam a me?
For the music director. A psalm of David. How long, Lord, are you going to forget me? Forever? How long will you turn away from me?
2 Quamdiu ponam consilia in anima mea, dolorem in corde meo per diem?
How long must I be in inner turmoil, feeling sad all day long? How long will my enemy be victorious over me?
3 Usquequo exaltabitur inimicus meus super me?
Think about this, and answer me, Lord my God. Give me back my strength, otherwise I'm going to die,
4 Respice, et exaudi me Domine Deus meus. Illumina oculos meos ne umquam obdormiam in morte:
and my enemy will say, “I defeated him!” and my opponents will celebrate my downfall.
5 ne quando dicat inimicus meus: Prævalui adversus eum. Qui tribulant me, exultabunt si motus fuero:
But I trust in your never-failing love, I will be happy because you save me.
6 ego autem in misericordia tua speravi. Exultabit cor meum in salutari tuo: cantabo Domino qui bona tribuit mihi: et psallam nomini Domini altissimi.
I will sing to the Lord because he has treated me with such generosity!
