< Psalmorum 116 >
1 Alleluia. Dilexi, quoniam exaudiet Dominus vocem orationis meæ.
I love the Lord, for he hears my voice, my pleas for mercy.
2 Quia inclinavit aurem suam mihi: et in diebus meis invocabo.
For he has inclined his ear to me: I will call upon him as long as I live.
3 Circumdederunt me dolores mortis: et pericula inferni invenerunt me. Tribulationem et dolorem inveni: (Sheol )
About me were snares of death, the anguish of Sheol was upon me: distress and sorrow were mine. (Sheol )
4 et nomen Domini invocavi. O Domine libera animam meam:
Then I called on the name of the Lord: ‘I beseech you, O Lord, deliver me.’
5 misericors Dominus, et iustus: et Deus noster miseretur.
Gracious and just is the Lord, compassionate is our God.
6 Custodiens parvulos Dominus: humiliatus sum, et liberavit me.
The Lord preserves the simple; when I was drooping, he saved me.
7 Convertere anima mea in requiem tuam: quia Dominus benefecit tibi.
Be at peace, my heart, once more, for the Lord has been good to you.
8 Quia eripuit animam meam de morte: oculos meos a lacrymis, pedes meos a lapsu.
You have rescued me from death, my eyes from tears, my feet from stumbling.
9 Placebo Domino in regione vivorum.
Before the Lord I will walk in the land of the living.
10 Alleluia. Credidi, propter quod locutus sum: ego autem humiliatus sum nimis.
I held fast my faith, though I said, ‘Ah me! I am sore afflicted,’
11 Ego dixi in excessu meo: Omnis homo mendax.
though in my alarm I said, ‘Everyone is a liar.’
12 Quid retribuam Domino, pro omnibus, quæ retribuit mihi?
What shall I render the Lord for all his bounty to me?
13 Calicem salutaris accipiam: et nomen Domini invocabo.
I will lift up the cup of salvation, and call on the name of the Lord.
14 Vota mea Domino reddam coram omni populo eius:
I will pay my vows to the Lord in the presence of all his people.
15 pretiosa in conspectu Domini mors sanctorum eius:
Grave in the eyes of the Lord is the death of his loyal and loved ones.
16 O Domine quia ego servus tuus: ego servus tuus, et filius ancillæ tuæ. Dirupisti vincula mea:
Ah, Lord! I am your servant, your servant, child of your handmaid. You have loosened my bonds.
17 tibi sacrificabo hostiam laudis, et nomen Domini invocabo.
I will offer to you a thank-offering, and call on the name of the Lord.
18 Vota mea Domino reddam in conspectu omnis populi eius:
I will pay my vows to the Lord in the presence of all his people,
19 in atriis domus Domini, in medio tui Ierusalem.
in the courts of the house of the Lord, in the midst of you, O Jerusalem. Hallelujah.
