Job 25

1 Respondens autem Baldad Suhites, dixit:

Then responded Bildad the Shuhite, and said: —

2 Potestas et terror apud eum est, qui facit concordiam in sublimibus suis.

Dominion and dread, are with him, who causeth prosperity among his lofty ones;

3 Numquid est numerus militum eius? et super quem non surget lumen illius?

Is there any number to his troops? And upon whom ariseth not his light?

4 Numquid iustificari potest homo comparatus Deo, aut apparere mundus natus de muliere?

How then shall, a mortal, be just with GOD? Or how shall he be pure who is born of a woman?

5 Ecce luna etiam non splendet, et stellæ non sunt mundæ in conspectu eius:

Look as far as the moon, and it is not clear, and, the stars, are not bright in his eyes!

6 Quanto magis homo putredo, et filius hominis vermis?

How much less a mortal who is a creeping thing? Or a son of the earth-born who is a worm?
