1 Filii Iuda: Phares, Hesron, et Charmi, et Hur, et Sobal.
The sons of Judah: Perez, Hezron, and Carmi, and Hur, and Shobal.
2 Raia vero filius Sobal genuit Iahath, de quo nati sunt Ahumai, et Laad. Hæ cognationes Sarathi.
Truly, Reaiah, the son of Shobal, conceived Jahath; from him were born Ahumai and Lahad. These are the kindred of the Zorathites.
3 Ista quoque stirps Etam: Iezrahel, et Iesema, et Iedebos. Nomen quoque sororis eorum, Asalelphuni.
And this is the stock of Etam: Jezreel, and Ishma, and Idbash. And the name of their sister was Hazzelelponi.
4 Phanuel autem pater Gedor, et Ezer pater Hosa. Isti sunt filii Hur primogeniti Ephratha patris Bethlehem.
Now Penuel was the father of Gedor, and Ezer was the father of Hushah. These are the sons of Hur, the firstborn of Ephratha, the father of Bethlehem.
5 Assur vero patri Thecuæ erant duæ uxores, Halaa, et Naara.
Truly, for Ashhur, the father of Tekoa, there were two wives: Helah and Naarah.
6 Peperit autem ei Naara, Oozam, et Hepher, et Themani, et Ahasthari. Isti sunt filii Naara.
And Naarah bore to him: Ahuzzam, and Hepher, and Temeni, and Haahashtari. These are the sons of Naarah.
7 Porro filii Halaa, Sereth, Isaar, et Ethnan.
And the sons of Helah were Zereth, Izhar, and Ethnan.
8 Cos autem genuit Anob, et Soboba, et cognationem Aharehel filii Arum.
Now Koz conceived Anub, and Zobebah, and the kindred of Aharhel, the son of Harum.
9 Fuit autem Iabes inclytus præ fratribus suis, et mater eius vocavit nomen illius Iabes, dicens: Quia peperi eum in dolore.
But Jabez was renowned, more so than his brothers, and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, “For I bore him in sorrow.”
10 Invocavit vero Iabes Deum Israel, dicens: Si benedicens benedixeris mihi, et dilataveris terminos meos, et fuerit manus tua mecum, et feceris me a malitia non opprimi. Et præstitit Deus quæ precatus est.
Truly, Jabez called upon the God of Israel, saying, “If only, when blessing, you will bless me, and will broaden my borders, and your hand will be with me, and you will cause me not to be oppressed by evil.” And God granted to him the things for which he prayed.
11 Caleb autem frater Sua genuit Mahir, qui fuit pater Esthon.
Now Chelub, the brother of Shuhah, conceived Mehir, who was the father of Eshton.
12 Porro Esthon genuit Bethrapha, et Phesse, et Tehinna patrem urbis Naas: hi sunt viri Recha.
Then Eshton conceived Bethrapha, and Paseah, and Tehinnah, the father of the city of Nahash. These are the men of Recah.
13 Filii autem Cenez, Othoniel, et Saraia. Porro filii Othoniel, Hathath, et Maonathi.
Now the sons of Kenaz were Othniel and Seraiah. And the sons of Othniel were Hathath and Meonothai.
14 Maonathi genuit Ophra, Saraia autem genuit Ioab patrem Vallis artificum: ibi quippe artifices erant.
Meonothai conceived Ophrah, but Seraiah conceived Joab, the father of the Valley of Artisans. For indeed, there were artisans there.
15 Filii vero Caleb filii Iephone, Hir, et Ela, et Naham. Filii quoque Ela: Cenez.
Truly, the sons of Chelub, the son of Jephunneh, were Iru, and Elah, and Naam. And the sons of Elah: Kenaz.
16 Filii quoque Ialeleel: Ziph, et Zipha, Thiria, et Asrael.
Also, the sons of Jehallelel: Ziph and Ziphah, Tiria and Asarel.
17 Et filii Ezra, Iether, et Mered, et Epher, et Ialon, genuitque Mariam, et Sammai, et Iesba patrem Esthamo.
And the sons of Ezrah: Jether, and Mered, and Epher, and Jalon; and he conceived Miriam, and Shammai, and Ishbah, the father of Eshtemoa.
18 Uxor quoque eius Iudaia, peperit Iared patrem Gedor, et Heber patrem Socho, et Icuthiel patrem Zanoe. Hi autem filii Bethiæ filiæ Pharaonis, quam accepit Mered,
And then his wife, Judaia, bore Jered, the father of Gedor, and Heber, the father of Soco, and Jekuthiel, the father of Zanoah. Now there were sons of Bithiah, the daughter of Pharaoh, whom Mered married,
19 et filii uxoris Odaiæ sororis Naham patris Ceila Garmi, et Esthamo, qui fuit de Machathi.
and sons of his wife Hodiah, the sister of Naham, the father of Keilah the Garmite, and of Eshtemoa, who was from Maacathi.
20 Filii quoque Simon, Amnon, et Rinna filius Hanan, et Thilon. Et filii Iesi, Zoheth, et Benzoheth.
And the sons of Shimon: Amnon, and Rinnah, son of Hanan, and Tilon. And the sons of Ishi: Zoheth and Benzoheth.
21 Filii Sela, filii Iuda: Her pater Lecha, et Laada pater Maresa, et cognationes domus operantium byssum in domo iuramenti,
The sons of Shelah, the son of Judah: Er, the father of Lecah, and Laadah, the father of Mareshah, and the kindred of the house of the workers of fine linen in the house of the oath,
22 et qui stare fecit Solem, virique Mendacii, et Securus, et Incendens, qui principes fuerunt in Moab, et qui reversi sunt in Lahem. Hæc autem verba vetera.

23 Hi sunt figuli habitantes in Plantationibus, et in Sepibus, apud regem in operibus eius, commoratique sunt ibi.

The sons of Simeon: Nemuel and Jamin, Jarib, Zerah, Shaul;

Shallum his son, Mibsam his son, Mishma his son.
26 Filii Masma: Hamuel filius eius, Zachur filius eius, Semei filius eius.
The sons of Mishma: Hammuel his son, Zaccur his son, Shimei his son.
27 Filii Semei sedecim, et filiæ sex: fratres autem eius non habuerunt filios multos, et universa cognatio non potuit adæquare summam filiorum Iuda.
The sons of Shimei were sixteen, and there were six daughters. But his brothers did not have many sons, and the entire kindred was not equal to the sum of the sons of Judah.
28 Habitaverunt autem in Bersabee, et Molada, et Hasarsuhal,
Now they lived in Beersheba, and Moladah, and Hazarshual,

and in Bilhah, and in Ezem, and in Tolad,
30 et in Bathuel, et in Horma, et in Siceleg,
and in Bethuel, and in Hormah, and in Ziklag,
31 et in Bethmarchaboth, et in Hasarsusim, et in Bethberai, et in Saarim. Hæ civitates eorum usque ad regem David.
and in Beth-marcaboth, and in Hazarsusim, and in Bethbiri, and in Shaaraim. These were their cities until king David.
32 Villæ quoque eorum: Etam, et Aen, Remmon, et Thochen, et Asan, civitates quinque.
And their towns were Etam, and Ain, Rimmon, and Tochen, and Ashan, five cities,
33 Et universi viculi eorum per circuitum civitatum istarum usque ad Baal. Hæc est habitatio eorum, et sedium distributio.
with all their villages, on every side of these cities, as far as Baal. This is their habitation and the distribution of the settlements.
34 Mosobab quoque et Iemlech, et Iosa filius Amasiæ,
And there were Meshobab and Jamlech, and Joshah, the son of Amaziah,
35 et Ioel, et Iehu filius Iosabiæ filii Saraiæ filii Asiel,
and Joel, and Jehu, the son of Joshibiah, the son of Seraiah, the son of Asiel,
36 et Elioenai, et Iacoba, et Isuhaia, et Asaia, et Adiel, et Ismiel, et Banaia,
and Elioenai, and Jaakobah, and Jeshohaiah, and Asaiah, and Adiel, and Jesimiel, and Benaiah,
37 Ziza quoque filius Sephei filii Allon filii Idaia filii Semri filii Samaia.
as well as Ziza, the son of Shiphi, the son of Allon, the son of Jedaiah, the son of Shimri, the son of Shemaiah.
38 Isti sunt nominati principes in cognationibus suis, et in domo affinitatum suarum multiplicati sunt vehementer.
These were the names of the leaders in their kindred. And they were multiplied greatly within the houses of their marriages.
39 Et profecti sunt ut ingrederentur in Gador usque ad Orientem vallis, et ut quærerent pascua gregibus suis.
And they set out, so that they might enter into Gedor, as far as the eastern valley, and so that they might seek pastures for their flocks.
40 Inveneruntque pascuas uberes, et valde bonas, et terram latissimam et quietam et fertilem, in qua ante habitaverant de stirpe Cham.
And they found fat and very good pastures, and a very wide and quiet and fruitful land, in which some from the stock of Ham had lived before.
41 Hi ergo venerunt, quos supra descripsimus nominatim, in diebus Ezechiæ regis Iuda: et percusserunt tabernacula eorum, et habitatores qui inventi fuerant ibi, et deleverunt eos usque in præsentem diem: habitaveruntque pro eis, quoniam uberrimas pascuas ibidem repererunt.
So then, those whose names have been written above, went forth in the days of Hezekiah, the king of Judah. And they struck down the inhabitants who had been found there with their dwellings. And they wiped them out, even to the present day. And they lived in place of them, because they found very fat pastures there.
42 De filiis quoque Simeon abierunt in montem Seir viri quingenti, habentes principes Phalthiam et Naariam et Raphaiam et Oziel filios Iesi:
Also, some of the sons of Simeon, five hundred men, went away to mount Seir, having as leaders Pelatiah and Neariah and Rephaiah and Uzziel, the sons of Ishi.
43 et percusserunt reliquias, quæ evadere potuerant, Amalecitarum, et habitaverunt ibi pro eis usque ad diem hanc.
And they struck down the remnant of the Amalekites, those who had been able to escape, and they lived there in place of them, even to this day.
