Psalmorum 90
1 Oratio Moysi, hominis Dei. [Domine, refugium factus es nobis a generatione in generationem.
A prayer of Moses, the man of God. Lord, thou hast bene our habitation from generation to generation.
2 Priusquam montes fierent, aut formaretur terra et orbis, a sæculo et usque in sæculum tu es, Deus.
Before the mountaines were made, and before thou hadst formed the earth, and the world, euen from euerlasting to euerlasting thou art our God.
3 Ne avertas hominem in humilitatem: et dixisti: Convertimini, filii hominum.
Thou turnest man to destruction: againe thou sayest, Returne, ye sonnes of Adam.
4 Quoniam mille anni ante oculos tuos tamquam dies hesterna quæ præteriit: et custodia in nocte
For a thousande yeeres in thy sight are as yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night.
5 quæ pro nihilo habentur, eorum anni erunt.
Thou hast ouerflowed them: they are as a sleepe: in the morning he groweth like the grasse:
6 Mane sicut herba transeat; mane floreat, et transeat; vespere decidat, induret, et arescat.
In the morning it florisheth and groweth, but in the euening it is cut downe and withereth.
7 Quia defecimus in ira tua, et in furore tuo turbati sumus.
For we are consumed by thine anger, and by thy wrath are we troubled.
8 Posuisti iniquitates nostras in conspectu tuo; sæculum nostrum in illuminatione vultus tui.
Thou hast set our iniquities before thee, and our secret sinnes in the light of thy countenance.
9 Quoniam omnes dies nostri defecerunt, et in ira tua defecimus. Anni nostri sicut aranea meditabuntur;
For all our dayes are past in thine anger: we haue spent our yeeres as a thought.
10 dies annorum nostrorum in ipsis septuaginta anni. Si autem in potentatibus octoginta anni, et amplius eorum labor et dolor; quoniam supervenit mansuetudo, et corripiemur.
The time of our life is threescore yeeres and ten, and if they be of strength, fourescore yeeres: yet their strength is but labour and sorowe: for it is cut off quickly, and we flee away.
11 Quis novit potestatem iræ tuæ, et præ timore tuo iram tuam
Who knoweth the power of thy wrath? for according to thy feare is thine anger.
12 dinumerare? Dexteram tuam sic notam fac, et eruditos corde in sapientia.
Teach vs so to nomber our dayes, that we may apply our heartes vnto wisdome.
13 Convertere, Domine; usquequo? et deprecabilis esto super servos tuos.
Returne (O Lord, howe long?) and be pacified toward thy seruants.
14 Repleti sumus mane misericordia tua; et exsultavimus, et delectati sumus omnibus diebus nostris.
Fill vs with thy mercie in the morning: so shall we reioyce and be glad all our dayes.
15 Lætati sumus pro diebus quibus nos humiliasti; annis quibus vidimus mala.
Comfort vs according to the dayes that thou hast afflicted vs, and according to the yeeres that we haue seene euill.
16 Respice in servos tuos et in opera tua, et dirige filios eorum.
Let thy worke bee seene towarde thy seruants, and thy glory vpon their children.
17 Et sit splendor Domini Dei nostri super nos, et opera manuum nostrarum dirige super nos, et opus manuum nostrarum dirige.]
And let the beautie of the Lord our God be vpon vs, and direct thou the worke of our hands vpon vs, euen direct the worke of our handes.
