< Psalmorum 84 >

1 In finem, pro torcularibus filiis Core. Psalmus. [Quam dilecta tabernacula tua, Domine virtutum!
To the chief music-maker; put to the Gittith A Psalm. Of the sons of Korah. How dear are your tents, O Lord of armies!
2 Concupiscit, et deficit anima mea in atria Domini; cor meum et caro mea exsultaverunt in Deum vivum.
The passion of my soul's desire is for the house of the Lord; my heart and my flesh are crying out for the living God.
3 Etenim passer invenit sibi domum, et turtur nidum sibi, ubi ponat pullos suos: altaria tua, Domine virtutum, rex meus, et Deus meus.
The little birds have places for themselves, where they may put their young, even your altars, O Lord of armies, my King and my God.
4 Beati qui habitant in domo tua, Domine; in sæcula sæculorum laudabunt te.
Happy are they whose resting-place is in your house: they will still be praising you. (Selah)
5 Beatus vir cujus est auxilium abs te: ascensiones in corde suo disposuit,
Happy is the man whose strength is in you; in whose heart are the highways to Zion.
6 in valle lacrimarum, in loco quem posuit.
Going through the valley of balsam-trees, they make it a place of springs; it is clothed with blessings by the early rain.
7 Etenim benedictionem dabit legislator; ibunt de virtute in virtutem: videbitur Deus deorum in Sion.
They go from strength to strength; every one of them comes before God in Zion.
8 Domine Deus virtutum, exaudi orationem meam; auribus percipe, Deus Jacob.
O Lord God of armies, let my prayer come to you: give ear, O God of Jacob. (Selah)
9 Protector noster, aspice, Deus, et respice in faciem christi tui.
O God, let your eyes be on him who is our safe cover, and let your heart be turned to your king.
10 Quia melior est dies una in atriis tuis super millia; elegi abjectus esse in domo Dei mei magis quam habitare in tabernaculis peccatorum.
For a day in your house is better than a thousand. It is better to be a door-keeper in the house of my God, than to be living in the tents of sin.
11 Quia misericordiam et veritatem diligit Deus: gratiam et gloriam dabit Dominus.
The Lord God is our sun and our strength: the Lord will give grace and glory: he will not keep back any good thing from those whose ways are upright.
12 Non privabit bonis eos qui ambulant in innocentia: Domine virtutum, beatus homo qui sperat in te.]
O Lord of armies, happy is the man whose hope is in you.
