1 [Aleph Quomodo obtexit caligine in furore suo Dominus filiam Sion; projecit de cælo in terram inclytam Israël, et non est recordatus scabelli pedum suorum in die furoris sui!
How! he covers with a cloud in anger his - [the] Lord [the] daughter of Zion he has thrown from heaven earth [the] splendor of Israel and not he has remembered [the] footstool of feet his in [the] day of anger his.
2 Beth Præcipitavit Dominus, nec pepercit omnia speciosa Jacob: destruxit in furore suo munitiones virginis Juda, et dejecit in terram; polluit regnum et principes ejus.
He has swallowed up [the] Lord (and not *Q(K)*) he has spared all [the] settlements of Jacob he has torn down in wrath his [the] fortifications of [the] daughter of Judah he has made [them] touch the ground he has profaned [the] kingdom and princes its.
3 Ghimel Confregit in ira furoris sui omne cornu Israël; avertit retrorsum dexteram suam a facie inimici, et succendit in Jacob quasi ignem flammæ devorantis in gyro.
He has cut off (in [the] heat of *L(abh)*) anger every horn of Israel he has turned back backward right [hand] his from before [the] enemy and he has burned Jacob like a fire of flame [which] it has consumed all around.
4 Daleth Tetendit arcum suum quasi inimicus, firmavit dexteram suam quasi hostis, et occidit omne quod pulchrum erat visu in tabernaculo filiæ Sion; effudit quasi ignem indignationem suam.
He has bent bow his like an enemy [he has] taken a stand right [hand] his like an opponent and he has killed all [the] delights of eye in [the] tent of [the] daughter of Zion he has poured out like fire rage his.
5 He Factus est Dominus velut inimicus, præcipitavit Israël: præcipitavit omnia mœnia ejus, dissipavit munitiones ejus, et replevit in filia Juda humiliatum et humiliatam.
He has become [the] Lord - like an enemy he has swallowed up Israel he has swallowed up all palaces its he has ruined fortifications its and he has multiplied in [the] daughter of Judah mourning and lamentation.
6 Vau Et dissipavit quasi hortum tentorium suum; demolitus est tabernaculum suum. Oblivioni tradidit Dominus in Sion festivitatem et sabbatum; et in opprobrium, et in indignationem furoris sui, regem et sacerdotem.
And he has treated violently like garden booth his he has ruined appointed place his he has caused to be forgotten Yahweh - in Zion appointed feast and sabbath and he has spurned in [the] indignation of anger his king and priest.
7 Zain Repulit Dominus altare suum; maledixit sanctificationi suæ: tradidit in manu inimici muros turrium ejus. Vocem dederunt in domo Domini sicut in die solemni.
He has rejected [the] Lord - altar his he has repudiated sanctuary his he has delivered up in [the] hand of an enemy [the] walls of palaces its voice people have given forth in [the] house of Yahweh like [the] day of an appointed feast.
8 Heth Cogitavit Dominus dissipare murum filiæ Sion; tetendit funiculum suum, et non avertit manum suam a perditione: luxitque antemurale, et murus pariter dissipatus est.
He has planned Yahweh - to destroy [the] wall of [the] daughter of Zion he has stretched out a measuring-line not he has turned back hand his from swallowing up and he has caused to mourn rampart and wall together they have languished.
9 Teth Defixæ sunt in terra portæ ejus, perdidit et contrivit vectes ejus; regem ejus et principes ejus in gentibus: non est lex, et prophetæ ejus non invenerunt visionem a Domino.
They have sunk in the ground gates its he has destroyed and he has broken bars its king its and princes its [are] among the nations there not [is] instruction also prophets its not they have found a vision from Yahweh.
10 Jod Sederunt in terra, conticuerunt senes filiæ Sion; consperserunt cinere capita sua, accincti sunt ciliciis: abjecerunt in terram capita sua virgines Jerusalem.
They sit to the ground they are silent [the] elders of [the] daughter of Zion they have caused to rise dust on head their they have girded on sackcloth they have brought down to the ground head their [the] virgins of Jerusalem.
11 Caph Defecerunt præ lacrimis oculi mei, conturbata sunt viscera mea; effusum est in terra jecur meum super contritione filiæ populi mei, cum deficeret parvulus et lactens in plateis oppidi.
They have failed by tears eyes my they are in turmoil inward parts my it has been poured out to the ground liver my on [the] brokenness of [the] daughter of people my because faint child and suckling-child in [the] open places of a town.
12 Lamed Matribus suis dixerunt: Ubi est triticum et vinum? cum deficerent quasi vulnerati in plateis civitatis, cum exhalarent animas suas in sinu matrum suarum.
To mothers their they say where? [are] grain and wine when faint away they like [one] fatally wounded in [the] open places of a city when pours itself out life their to [the] bosom of mothers their.
13 Mem Cui comparabo te, vel cui assimilabo te, filia Jerusalem? cui exæquabo te, et consolabor te, virgo, filia Sion? magna est enim velut mare contritio tua: quis medebitur tui?
What? will I testify for you what? will I liken to you O daughter of Jerusalem what? will I make equal to you so I may comfort you O virgin of [the] daughter of Zion for [is] great like the sea brokenness your who? will he heal you.
14 Nun Prophetæ tui viderunt tibi falsa et stulta; nec aperiebant iniquitatem tuam, ut te ad pœnitentiam provocarent; viderunt autem tibi assumptiones falsas, et ejectiones.
Prophets your they have seen for you worthlessness and sham and not they have made known on iniquity your to turn back (captivity your *Q(k)*) and they have seen for you oracles of worthlessness and enticement.
15 Samech Plauserunt super te manibus omnes transeuntes per viam; sibilaverunt et moverunt caput suum super filiam Jerusalem: Hæccine est urbs, dicentes, perfecti decoris, gaudium universæ terræ?
They have clapped on you hands all [those who] pass by of [the] road they have hissed and they have shaken head their on [the] daughter of Jerusalem ¿ [is] this the city that people said perfect of beauty a joy to all the earth.
16 Phe Aperuerunt super te os suum omnes inimici tui: sibilaverunt, et fremuerunt dentibus, et dixerunt: Devorabimus: en ista est dies quam exspectabamus; invenimus, vidimus.
They have opened on you mouth their all enemies your they have hissed and they have gnashed a tooth they said we have swallowed up surely this [is] the day that we have waited for it we have found we have seen.
17 Ain Fecit Dominus quæ cogitavit; complevit sermonem suum, quem præceperat a diebus antiquis: destruxit, et non pepercit, et lætificavit super te inimicum, et exaltavit cornu hostium tuorum.
He has done Yahweh what he purposed he has fulfilled word his which he commanded from days of antiquity he has torn down and not he has spared and he has caused to rejoice on you an enemy he has lifted up [the] horn of opponents your.
18 Sade Clamavit cor eorum ad Dominum super muros filiæ Sion: Deduc quasi torrentem lacrimas per diem et noctem; non des requiem tibi, neque taceat pupilla oculi tui.
It has cried out heart their to [the] Lord O wall of [the] daughter of Zion send down like river tear[s] by day and night may not you give rest to yourself may not it be still [the] daughter of eye your.
19 Coph Consurge, lauda in nocte, in principio vigiliarum; effunde sicut aquam cor tuum ante conspectum Domini: leva ad eum manus tuas pro anima parvulorum tuorum, qui defecerunt in fame in capite omnium compitorum.
Arise - cry out (in the night *Q(K)*) to [the] head of [the] night-watches pour out like water heart your before [the] presence of [the] Lord lift up to him hands your on [the] life children your the ones enfeebled by hunger at [the] head of all [the] streets.
20 Res Vide, Domine, et considera quem vindemiaveris ita. Ergone comedent mulieres fructum suum, parvulos ad mensuram palmæ? si occiditur in sanctuario Domini sacerdos et propheta?
See O Yahweh and look! to whom? have you dealt severely thus? will they eat women descendant[s] their children of health or? will he be killed in [the] sanctuary of [the] Lord priest and prophet.
21 Sin Jacuerunt in terra foris puer et senex; virgines meæ et juvenes mei ceciderunt in gladio: interfecisti in die furoris tui, percussisti, nec misertus es.
They have lain down to the ground streets youth and old [person] young women my and young men my they have fallen by the sword you have killed in [the] day of anger your you have slaughtered not you have spared.
22 Thau Vocasti quasi ad diem solemnem, qui terrerent me de circuitu; et non fuit in die furoris Domini qui effugeret, et relinqueretur: quos educavi et enutrivi, inimicus meus consumpsit eos.]
You have summoned like [the] day of an appointed feast terrors my from round about and not he was in [the] day of [the] anger of Yahweh an escapee and a survivor [those] whom I had given birth and I had reared enemy my he has made an end of them.
