< Genesis 7 >

1 Dixitque Dominus ad eum: Ingredere tu et omnis domus tua in arcam: te enim vidi justum coram me in generatione hac.
And God said to Noah, "Come with all of your household into the ship, for I have seen your righteousness before me in this generation.
You shall take seven pairs of every clean animal with you, the male and his female. Of the animals that are not clean, take two, the male and his female.
Also of the clean flying creatures of the sky, seven pairs, a male and a female, and of all the unclean flying creatures, one pair, a male and a female, to preserve their offspring on the surface of all the earth.
In seven days, I will cause it to rain on the earth for forty days and forty nights. Every living thing that I have made, I will destroy from the surface of the ground."
5 Fecit ergo Noë omnia quæ mandaverat ei Dominus.
Noah did everything that God commanded him.
6 Eratque sexcentorum annorum quando diluvii aquæ inundaverunt super terram.
Noah was six hundred years old when the flood of waters came on the earth.
Noah went into the ship with his sons, his wife, and his sons' wives, because of the waters of the flood.
Clean animals, animals that are not clean, flying creatures, and everything that crawls on the ground
went by pairs to Noah into the ship, male and female, as God commanded Noah.
10 Cumque transissent septem dies, aquæ diluvii inundaverunt super terram.
It happened after the seven days, that the waters of the flood came on the earth.
In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, on the seventeenth day of the month, on the same day all the fountains of the great deep were burst open, and the floodgates of the sky were opened.
The rain was on the earth forty days and forty nights.
In the same day Noah, and Shem, Ham, and Japheth, the sons of Noah, and Noah's wife, and the three wives of his sons with them, entered into the ship;
14 ipsi et omne animal secundum genus suum, universaque jumenta in genere suo, et omne quod movetur super terram in genere suo, cunctumque volatile secundum genus suum, universæ aves, omnesque volucres,
they, and every wild animal after its kind, and every tame animal after their kind, every creature that crawls on the earth after its kind, and every flying creature after its kind, everything with wings.
They went to Noah into the ship, by pairs of all flesh with the breath of life in them.
Those who went in, went in male and female of all flesh, as God commanded him; and God shut him in.
The flood was forty days on the earth. The waters increased, and lifted up the ship, and it was lifted up above the earth.
18 Vehementer enim inundaverunt, et omnia repleverunt in superficie terræ: porro arca ferebatur super aquas.
The waters prevailed, and increased greatly on the earth; and the ship floated on the surface of the waters.
19 Et aquæ prævaluerunt nimis super terram: opertique sunt omnes montes excelsi sub universo cælo.
And the waters rose very high on the earth. And all the high mountains that were under the whole sky were covered.
20 Quindecim cubitis altior fuit aqua super montes, quos operuerat.
The waters rose and covered the highest mountains to a depth of more than twenty-six feet.
21 Consumptaque est omnis caro quæ movebatur super terram, volucrum, animantium, bestiarum, omniumque reptilium, quæ reptant super terram: universi homines,
And all flesh died that moved on the earth, flying creatures, and tame animals, and wild animals, and every creature that crawls on the earth, and all humankind.
All in whose nostrils breathed the breath of life, of all that was on the dry land, died.
Every living thing was destroyed that was on the surface of the ground, including people, animals, crawling creatures, and flying creatures of the sky. They were destroyed from the earth. Only Noah was left, and those who were with him in the ship.
24 Obtinueruntque aquæ terram centum quinquaginta diebus.
The waters prevailed on the earth one hundred fifty days.
