1 Factum est autem post anni circulum, eo tempore quo solent reges ad bella procedere, congregavit Joab exercitum, et robur militiæ, et vastavit terram filiorum Ammon: perrexitque et obsedit Rabba. Porro David manebat in Jerusalem, quando Joab percussit Rabba et destruxit eam.
And it was to [the] time of [the] return of the year to [the] time of - [the] going out of kings and he lead out Joab [the] army of war and he destroyed - [the] land of [the] people of Ammon and he went and he besieged Rabbah and David [was] remaining in Jerusalem and he struck Joab Rabbah and he overthrew it.
2 Tulit autem David coronam Melchom de capite ejus, et invenit in ea auri pondo talentum, et pretiosissimas gemmas, fecitque sibi inde diadema: manubias quoque urbis plurimas tulit;
And he took David [the] crown of king their from on head his and he found it - weight of a talent of gold and [was] in it a stone precious and it was on [the] head of David and [the] plunder of the city he brought out much very.
3 populum autem, qui erat in ea, eduxit, et fecit super eos tribulas, et trahas, et ferrata carpenta transire, ita ut dissecarentur et contererentur. Sic fecit David cunctis urbibus filiorum Ammon: et reversus est cum omni populo suo in Jerusalem.
And the people which [was] in it he brought out and he sawed with saw and with [the] sharp instruments of iron and with saws and thus he did David to all [the] cities of [the] people of Ammon and he returned David and all the people Jerusalem.
4 Post hæc initum est bellum in Gazer adversum Philisthæos, in quo percussit Sobochai Husathites, Saphai de genere Raphaim, et humiliavit eos.
And it was after this and it arose a battle at Gezer with [the] Philistines then he struck down Sibbecai the Hushathite Sippai one of those born of the Rephaites and they were subdued.
5 Aliud quoque bellum gestum est adversus Philisthæos, in quo percussit Adeodatus filius Saltus Bethlehemites fratrem Goliath Gethæi, cujus hastæ lignum erat quasi liciatorium texentium.
And it was again a battle with [the] Philistines and he struck down Elhanan [the] son of (Jair *Q(K)*) Lahmi [the] brother of Goliath the Gittite and [the] wood of spear his [was] like a beam of weavers.
6 Sed et aliud bellum accidit in Geth, in quo fuit homo longissimus, senos habens digitos, id est, simul viginti quatuor: qui et ipse de Rapha fuerat stirpe generatus.
And it was again a battle at Gath and he was - a man of stature and digits his [were] six and six twenty and four and also he he was born to Rapha.
7 Hic blasphemavit Israël: et percussit eum Jonathan filius Samaa fratris David.
And he taunted Israel and he struck down him Jonathan [the] son of Shimea [the] brother of David.
8 Hi sunt filii Rapha in Geth, qui ceciderunt in manu David et servorum ejus.
These they were born to Rapha in Gath and they fell by [the] hand of David and by [the] hand of servants his.
