1 کاتێک ئیسرائیل لە میسر هاتنە دەرەوە، بنەماڵەی یاقوب لەنێو گەلێکی نامۆ زمان دەرچوون،

At the time of the exodus of Israel from Egypt, when the descendants of Jacob left that foreign country,

2 یەهودا بووە پیرۆزگای خودا، ئیسرائیل بووە جێی فەرمانڕەوایەتی.

the land of Judah became the Lord's sanctuary, Israel his kingdom.

3 دەریا بینی و هەڵات، ڕووباری ئوردون بەرەو پاش کشایەوە.

The Red Sea saw them and ran away; the Jordan River retreated.

4 چیاکان وەک بەران بازیان دا، گردەکان وەک بەرخۆلە.

Mountains jumped in fright like rams, hills startled like lambs.

5 چیتە ئەی دەریا، بۆ وا هەڵدێیت؟ ئەی ئوردون، بۆ بەرەو پاش دەکشێیتەوە؟

Red Sea—why did you run away? Jordan River—why did you retreat?

6 ئەی چیاکان، بۆ وەک بەران باز دەدەن و ئێوەش ئەی گردەکان، وەک بەرخۆلە؟

Mountains—why did you jump in fright? Hills—why did you startle like lambs?

7 ئەی زەوی لەبەردەم پەروەردگار بلەرزە، لەبەردەم خودای یاقوب،

Earth, tremble in the presence of the Lord, tremble in the presence of the God of Jacob!

8 ئەوەی بەردی کرد بە گۆمی ئاو، بەردەئەستێی کردە کانیاو.

He is the one who turned the rock into a pool of water; making water flow from the hard rock.
