< Maheberu 7 >

1 Ibali njozu Melekisedeke, simwine wa Selemu, muprisita wa Ireeza Yohitilize Kuhangama, yabasangani Abrahama habola kuzwa kukusinya chakwihaya basimwine mi namutohonolofaza.
Melchizedek was king of Salem and priest of the Most High God. He met Abraham who was returning from defeating the kings and blessed him.
2 Ibali kwali kwabahi Abrahama inkalulo yimwina yazina ikumi yazintu zonse. Izina Lyakwe “Melekisedeke” italusa “simwine wabulotu bumaniniza.” Ilumbatina lakwe limwi nji “simwine wa Salemi,” italusa, “simwine wekozo.”
Abraham gave him a tithe of all that he had won. Melchizedek's name means “king of right” while king of Salem means “king of peace.”
3 Kena isi, kena nyina, kena bakulubatanzi, kena nanga matangilo amazuba mane nanga mamaninizo abuhalo. Muchibakchobulyo, uswana ni Mwana we Ireeza, kakuli uswala kuba muprisita kuya kusena mamanimani.
We don't have any information about his father or his mother or his family tree. We don't know when he was born or when he died. Like the Son of God he continues as a priest forever.
4 Mubone mwabubanela uzu mukwame. Bakulubatanzi ba Abrahama babamuhi inkalulo yimwina yazina ikumi yazintu zonse zabakahindi mukondo.
Think how great this man was for Abraham the patriarch to give him a tithe of what was won in battle.
5 Munzila imwi, bana ba Livi babaamuheli buprisita bena itaelo inzwa kumulao yakutambula inkalulo yimwina yazina ikumi yazintu kubantu, kutalusa kuti, kuzwililila kubanakwabo, nihaike kuti nabo, bulyo, babazwi kumubili wa Abrahama.
Yes, the sons of Levi who are priests were commanded by the law to receive a tithe from the people, their brothers and sisters, who are descended from Abraham.
6 Kono chenzila imwi, Melekisedeke, ili uzo lusika lwakwe kanalubawoleki kwizibwa kuluzwa, abaamuheli inkalulo yimwina yazina ikumi yazintu kuzwa kwa Abrahama, imi abamutohonolofazi, iye yabena isepiso.
But Melchizedek who doesn't share their ancestry received tithes from Abraham, and blessed the one who had God's promises.
7 Kakwina kusapula kuti muntu wamazimo ena kunsi utohonolofazwa kumuntu wina mazimo makando.
There's no argument that the lesser person is blessed by the one who is greater.
8 Mweyi indaba, mukwame yofwile utambula inkalulo yimwina yazina ikumi yazintu, kono chendaba ikola neyo kutiisezwa kuti uzwilahabusu kuhala.
In the one case tithes are received by men who die, but in the other by one who is said to be living.
9 Imi, chamazimo akuwamba, Livi, yabatambuli inkalulo yimwina yazina ikumi yazintu, naye bulyo abalihi inkalulo yimwina yazina ikumi kwa Abrahama,
So you could say that Levi, the one who receives tithes, has paid tithes through being a descendant of Abraham,
10 kakuli Livi abena mumubili wamuzazi wetanzi munako ya Melekisedeke hasangana Abrahama.
for he was yet to be born from his father when Melchizedek met Abraham.
11 Linu haiba kuba yobuzwile mubuhalo bwachilumeli chintu chiwoleka chenzila yabuprisita bwa Chilivi (mukuti mwikonde lateni bantu babaamuheli mulao), bulotu nzi buchitokwahala kuba kwateni kwamuprisita zumwi kuba kwateni mumasule enzila ya Melekisedeke, ni kusahewa itokomelo kuba yichilila mikwa ya Aaroni?
Now if perfection could have been achieved through the priesthood of Levi (for that's how the law was received), what was the need for another priest to come following the order of Melchizedek, and not following the order of Aaron?
12 Mukuti buprisita heti chibwachinchwa, mulao nao utameha kuchinchwa.
If the priesthood is changed, then the law needs to be changed too.
13 Mukuti yowambwa chezi zintu ngwamushobo umwi, kusena nanga umwina yabati nasebeza hakatala.
The one we're talking about comes from a different tribe, a tribe that has never provided priests to serve at the altar.
14 Hanu kujolwele, ibali kwa Juda kwaba pepwa Simwine wetu, mushobo uti nanga ubabi Mushe asauwambi kuamana ni maprisita.
It's clear that our Lord is a descendant of Judah, and Moses said nothing about priests coming from this tribe.
15 Imi chituwamba chizuweka haishaiba zumwi muprisita uba kwateni yoswana ni Melekisedeke.
What makes it even clearer is when another priest appears who is similar to Melchizedek,
16 Kanaibali hamutomo wamulao walusika lwenyama kuti abe muprisita, kono ibali chamutomo wamaata abuhalo bwakwe busetinibumane.
and who didn't become a priest by virtue of his human ancestry but by the power of a life that cannot be ended.
17 Mukuti ziñoletwe zimupaka bulyo: “'Umuprisita wakuya kusena mamanimani munzila iswana ni mwababili Melekisedeke muprisita.” (aiōn g165)
That's why it says, “You are a priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek.” (aiōn g165)
18 Mukuti kubena kumanisa kwamulao ubena kwateni kakuli kanaubakolete ni kusaba ni yuso.
So the previous rule has been set aside because it was powerless and didn't work,
19 Mukuti mulao kana ubapangi chilukite. Nihakwina bulyo, kubena matangilo ena kulisepa nenza akubusu chenzila ituswanela kwiza kwe Ireeza.
(for the law didn't make anything perfect). But now it's been replaced by a better hope by which we can come close to God.
20 Imi inzi kanazibatendahali ni kusena kulikonka chekumbya. Chenzila imwi, abo bamwi bababi maprisita ni kusena kulikonka chekumbya.
This was not without an oath, even though those who become priests do so without an oath.
21 Kono chenzila imwi, iyi kwateni, Jesu, ababi muprisita chakulikonka chekumbya kozo yabawambi kwali, “Ireeza abalikonki chekumbya mi ketinachinche maikuto akwe: 'Umuprisita wakuya kusena mamanimani.”' (aiōn g165)
But he became a priest with an oath because God told him, “The Lord has taken a solemn vow and will not change his mind: You are a priest forever.” (aiōn g165)
22 Cheyi inzila hape Jesu abahi isepiso yizwile yetumelelano yina nenza.
This is how Jesus became the guarantee of an agreed relationship with God that is so much better.
23 Chenzila imwi, bangi bababi maprisita kakuli chakufwa bakungulwa ni kusazwila habusu.
There have been many priests because death prevented them from being able to continue;
24 Chenzila imwi, kakuli Jesu ushala kuba bulyo kuya kusena mamanimani, wina mazimo abuprisita asamani. (aiōn g165)
but since Jesus lives forever, his priesthood is permanent. (aiōn g165)
25 Chobulyo uwola hape kuhuna cheniti beza kwe Ireeaza chenzila yakwe, kakuli inako yonse uhalila kubalapelela.
As a result he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, living always to plead their case on their behalf.
26 Mukuti muprisita mukulwana bulyo njotuswanela. Kena chive, kena katowati, ujolola, uzwisizwe kubatendi bazive, imi ababi yohanzi kuhita mawulu akwiwulu.
He is exactly the high priest we need: holy and without fault, pure and separate from sinners, and given a place in the highest heavens.
27 Kakwina chatokwa, kaswani ni muprisita mukulwana, yoha chitabelo izuba ni zuba, kutanga chazive zakwe, mi linu zive zabantu bamwi. Abatutendeli bulyo kamwina tubonse, habalineli iye mwine.
Unlike those human high priests, he doesn't need to offer a daily sacrifice for his sins and then the sins of the people. He did this once, and for everyone, when he offered himself.
28 Mukuti mulao ubika bakwame bena bufokoli kuba baprisita bakulwana. Kono linzi lakulikonka chekumbya, libezi mumasule amulao, libabiki Mwana, yabatendwa yolukite kuya kusena mamanimani. (aiōn g165)
The law appoints imperfect men as high priests, but God gave his solemn vow after the law, and appointed his Son, perfect forever. (aiōn g165)
