< Psalm 78 >

1 [Psalm lal Asaph] Mwet luk, porongo mwe luti luk, Ac lohang nu ke ma nga fahk.
A contemplation by Asaph. Hear my teaching, my people. Turn your ears to the words of my mouth.
2 Nga ac orekmakin kas lalmwetmet In aketeya ma lukma in pacl somla,
I will open my mouth in a parable. I will utter dark sayings of old,
3 Ke ma su kut lohng ac etu, Su mwet matu lasr elos srumun nu sesr.
which we have heard and known, and our fathers have told us.
4 Kut ac fah tia okanla ma inge liki tulik natusr; Kut ac fah fahkak nu sin fwil tok uh Ke ku lun LEUM GOD ac orekma yohk lal Ac ma wolana su El oru.
We will not hide them from their children, telling to the generation to come the praises of Yahweh, his strength, and his wondrous deeds that he has done.
5 El sang ma sap nu sin mwet Israel Ac ma sap ku nu sin fwil natul Jacob. El sapkin nu sin mwet matu lasr Tuh elos in luti ma sap lal nu sin tulik natulos.
For he established a covenant in Jacob, and appointed a teaching in Israel, which he commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their children;
6 Tuh fwil se tok uh in etu ke ma inge Ac elos in tafwela pac nu sin tulik natulos.
that the generation to come might know, even the children who should be born; who should arise and tell their children,
7 Fin ouinge, elos fah oayapa filiya lulalfongi lalos in God Ac tia mulkunla orekma lal, A elos fah akos ma sap lal pacl e nukewa.
that they might set their hope in God, and not forget God’s deeds, but keep his commandments,
8 Elos ac fah tia oana mwet matu lalos meet ah, Su seakos ac likkeke, Ac lulalfongi lalos tiana ku, Ac elos tia nunak pwaye nu sin God.
and might not be as their fathers— a stubborn and rebellious generation, a generation that didn’t make their hearts loyal, whose spirit was not steadfast with God.
9 Mwet Ephraim elos tuh us pisr ac sukan pisr natulos A elos kaingla in len in mweun.
The children of Ephraim, being armed and carrying bows, turned back in the day of battle.
10 Elos tia liyaung wuleang lalos nu sin God, Ac elos srangesr akos ma sap lal.
They didn’t keep God’s covenant, and refused to walk in his law.
11 Elos mulkunla orekma lal, Oayapa mwenmen su El oru ye mutalos.
They forgot his doings, his wondrous deeds that he had shown them.
12 God El oru ma usrnguk ye mutun mwet matu lalos In acn Zoan in facl Egypt.
He did marvelous things in the sight of their fathers, in the land of Egypt, in the field of Zoan.
13 God El oralik meoa ac lela tuh elos in fahsr sasla; El oru tuh kof uh in tuyak oana eol.
He split the sea, and caused them to pass through. He made the waters stand as a heap.
14 Ke len uh El kololos ke sie pukunyeng, Ac ke fong uh ke kalem ke e.
In the daytime he also led them with a cloud, and all night with a light of fire.
15 El foklalik eot uh yen mwesis Ac sang kof nimalos liki acn loal.
He split rocks in the wilderness, and gave them drink abundantly as out of the depths.
16 El oru tuh soko infacl srisrik in tuku ke eot uh me, Ac orala tuh kof uh soror oana soko infacl.
He brought streams also out of the rock, and caused waters to run down like rivers.
17 Tusruktu, elos srakna orekma koluk lain God, Ac elos lain El Su Fulatlana yen mwesis.
Yet they still went on to sin against him, to rebel against the Most High in the desert.
18 Elos ke pacna srike God Ke elos sapkin tuh Elan kitalos ke mwe mongo elos lungse.
They tempted God in their heart by asking food according to their desire.
19 Elos kaskas lain God ac fahk, “Ya God El ku in ase mwe mongo in acn mwesis uh?
Yes, they spoke against God. They said, “Can God prepare a table in the wilderness?
20 Pwaye lah El puokya eot uh Ac kof uh kahkma. Na fuka, El ku pac in ase bread nasr Ac kite mwet lal ke ikwa?”
Behold, he struck the rock, so that waters gushed out, and streams overflowed. Can he give bread also? Will he provide meat for his people?”
21 Ke ma inge LEUM GOD El kasrkusrak ke El lohng kas lalos. El akkeokye mwet lal ke e, Ac kasrkusrak lal kaclos yokelik,
Therefore Yahweh heard, and was angry. A fire was kindled against Jacob, anger also went up against Israel,
22 Mweyen wangin lulalfongi lalos in El, Ac elos tia lulalfongi lah El ac ku in molelosla.
because they didn’t believe in God, and didn’t trust in his salvation.
23 Na God El kaskas nu yen engyeng uh Ac sapkin tuh srungul we in ikakelik;
Yet he commanded the skies above, and opened the doors of heaven.
24 El sang wheat inkusrao me Ke El supwama manna nalos.
He rained down manna on them to eat, and gave them food from the sky.
25 Ouinge, mwet uh mongo ke mwe mongo nun lipufan, Ac God El supwama fal nu ke enenu lalos.
Man ate the bread of angels. He sent them food to the full.
26 El oayapa oru tuh eng kutulap in tuhyak, Ac ke ku lal El purakak eng eir me.
He caused the east wind to blow in the sky. By his power he guided the south wind.
27 Na El supweya won nu sin mwet lal, Pus oana puk weacn uh.
He also rained meat on them as the dust, winged birds as the sand of the seas.
28 Won inge putati infulwen na nien aktuktuk lalos, Ac raunela lohm nuknuk selos.
He let them fall in the middle of their camp, around their habitations.
29 Ouinge mwet uh mongo ac arulana kihp, Tuh God El sang nu selos fal nu ke enenu lalos.
So they ate, and were well filled. He gave them their own desire.
30 Tusruktu, elos soenna muti ke kena lalos, Ac elos srakna mongo
They didn’t turn from their cravings. Their food was yet in their mouths,
31 Ke God El kasrkusrak selos Ac uniya mukul su fokoko emeet lalos; Aok, mukul fusr su wo emeet sin mwet Israel.
when the anger of God went up against them, killed some of their strongest, and struck down the young men of Israel.
32 Ne ouinge elos srakna oru ma koluk God El finne orek mwenmen nu selos, ac elos srakna tia lulalfongel.
For all this they still sinned, and didn’t believe in his wondrous works.
33 Ke ma inge God El aksafye len lalos oana lusen mong se; In kitin pacl na El arulana kunausla moul lalos.
Therefore he consumed their days in vanity, and their years in terror.
34 Pacl nukewa ma God El ac onela kutu selos Na mwet lula uh ac forla nu sel, Elos ac auliyak ac pre ke kuiyalos nufon.
When he killed them, then they inquired after him. They returned and sought God earnestly.
35 Elos esamak lah God El nien molela lalos, Ac El Su Kulana El tuku kasrelos.
They remembered that God was their rock, the Most High God, their redeemer.
36 Tusruktu kas nukewa lalos kikiap — Tiana pwaye ma elos fahk.
But they flattered him with their mouth, and lied to him with their tongue.
37 Elos tia nunak pwaye nu sel; Elos tia inse pwaye nu ke wuleang lalos nu sel.
For their heart was not right with him, neither were they faithful in his covenant.
38 Tusruktu, God El pakomuta mwet lal. El nunak munas ke ma koluk lalos Ac tia kunauselosla. Pacl pus El sruokya mulat lal lukelos, Ac kutongya kasrkusrak lal.
But he, being merciful, forgave iniquity, and didn’t destroy them. Yes, many times he turned his anger away, and didn’t stir up all his wrath.
39 El esam lah mwet inge elos mwet moul in ikwa, Moul lalos oana eng uh ke ac tuhwot ac tia folok.
He remembered that they were but flesh, a wind that passes away, and doesn’t come again.
40 Pus na pacl elos aktoasrye God yen mwesis, Oayapa pus na pacl elos aksupwaryal.
How often they rebelled against him in the wilderness, and grieved him in the desert!
41 Pus na pacl elos srike God Ac akkeokye insien God Mutal lun Israel.
They turned again and tempted God, and provoked the Holy One of Israel.
42 Elos mulkunla ku lulap lal Ac len se El tuh molelosla liki mwet lokoalok lalos,
They didn’t remember his hand, nor the day when he redeemed them from the adversary;
43 Ac orala ma ku ac usrnguk In acn Zoan in facl Egypt.
how he set his signs in Egypt, his wonders in the field of Zoan,
44 El ekulla infacl we nu ke srah Na wangin kof mwet Egypt in nim.
he turned their rivers into blood, and their streams, so that they could not drink.
45 El supwala un loang nu inmasrlolos, mwe akkeokyalos, Ac frog in kunausla acn selos.
He sent among them swarms of flies, which devoured them; and frogs, which destroyed them.
46 El supwala locust in kangla fokinsak sunalos Ac in kunausla ima lalos.
He also gave their increase to the caterpillar, and their labor to the locust.
47 El kunausla ima grape lalos ke af yohk kosra, Ac kunausla sak fig ke aunfong oyohu.
He destroyed their vines with hail, their sycamore fig trees with frost.
48 El uniya cow natulos ke af yohk kosra, Ac un kosro natulos ke sarom.
He also gave over their livestock to the hail, and their flocks to hot thunderbolts.
49 El srunglulos Ke kasrkusrak ac mulat lal, Oana sie un lipufan su tuku in use misa.
He threw on them the fierceness of his anger, wrath, indignation, and trouble, and a band of angels of evil.
50 El tia sruokya mulat lal Ku molela moul lalos, A El onelos ke mwe akkeok.
He made a path for his anger. He didn’t spare their soul from death, but gave their life over to the pestilence,
51 El uniya wounse nukewa In sou nukewa lun mwet Egypt.
and struck all the firstborn in Egypt, the chief of their strength in the tents of Ham.
52 Na El kolla mwet lal oana sie shepherd, Ac pwanulos sasla yen mwesis.
But he led out his own people like sheep, and guided them in the wilderness like a flock.
53 El kololos in misla ac elos tia sangeng, A meoa tuku ac afunla mwet lokoalok lalos.
He led them safely, so that they weren’t afraid, but the sea overwhelmed their enemies.
54 El kololos nu ke acn mutal sel, Nu ke eol we su El sifacna eisla.
He brought them to the border of his sanctuary, to this mountain, which his right hand had taken.
55 El lusak mwet in facl sac ke mwet lal elos utyak Ac El kitalik acn selos nu sin sruf lun Israel, Ac sang lohm sin mwet we nu sin mwet lal.
He also drove out the nations before them, allotted them for an inheritance by line, and made the tribes of Israel to dwell in their tents.
56 Tusruktu, elos tuyak lain God Kulana, Ac kena sifilpa srikal. Elos tia akos ma sap lal,
Yet they tempted and rebelled against the Most High God, and didn’t keep his testimonies,
57 A elos forla liki God ac tia pwaye nunak lalos nu sel, oapana mwet matu lalos meet ah; Elos sesuwos oana soko sukan pisr kururu.
but turned back, and dealt treacherously like their fathers. They were twisted like a deceitful bow.
58 Elos arulana akkasrkusrakye God ke nien alu lalos Ac ke ma sruloala lalos.
For they provoked him to anger with their high places, and moved him to jealousy with their engraved images.
59 God El arulana mulat ke El liye ma inge, Ac El sisla na pwaye mwet Israel.
When God heard this, he was angry, and greatly abhorred Israel,
60 God El som liki lohm nuknuk sel in Shiloh, Lohm se su El muta loac inmasrlosr.
so that he abandoned the tent of Shiloh, the tent which he placed among men,
61 El lela tuh mwet lokoalok lasr in sruokya Tuptup in Wuleang, Su akilenyen ku ac wolana lal.
and delivered his strength into captivity, his glory into the adversary’s hand.
62 El arulana toasr sin mwet lal Ac El lela tuh elos in anwuki sin mwet lokoalok lalos.
He also gave his people over to the sword, and was angry with his inheritance.
63 Mukul fusr elos misa ke mweun, Ac mutan fusr uh wangin mwet elos in payuk se.
Fire devoured their young men. Their virgins had no wedding song.
64 Mwet tol elos anwuki, Na tia lela tuh katinmas kialos in eoksra.
Their priests fell by the sword, and their widows couldn’t weep.
65 Na Leum El sifil ngutalik oana mwet se su motul ngutalik — El oana sie mukul fokoko su pirikyukyak ke sripen wain.
Then the Lord awakened as one out of sleep, like a mighty man who shouts by reason of wine.
66 Na El ukwauk mwet lokoalok ac kutangulosla, Pwanang elos mwekinla nwe tok.
He struck his adversaries backward. He put them to a perpetual reproach.
67 Tusruk El sisla sruf lal Joseph, Ac El tia sulela sruf lal Ephraim.
Moreover he rejected the tent of Joseph, and didn’t choose the tribe of Ephraim,
68 A El sulela sruf lal Judah, Oayapa Eol Zion, su El arulana lungse.
But chose the tribe of Judah, Mount Zion which he loved.
69 El musaela Tempul lal ingo, In oana lohm sel inkusrao. El oru in okak ac ku, oana faclu, Su oakwuki nwe tok.
He built his sanctuary like the heights, like the earth which he has established forever.
70 God El sulella David, mwet kulansap lal, Su El usalu liki inima,
He also chose David his servant, and took him from the sheepfolds;
71 Acn el muta liyaung sheep we, Ac El oru tuh elan tokosra fin Israel — Elan oana sie mwet shepherd lun mwet lun God.
from following the ewes that have their young, he brought him to be the shepherd of Jacob, his people, and Israel, his inheritance.
72 Ouinge David el liyalosyang ke inse pwaye Ac ke pah in nunak lal, el kololos.
So he was their shepherd according to the integrity of his heart, and guided them by the skillfulness of his hands.
