< Psalm 49 >

1 [Psalm Lun Tulik Natul Korah] Lohng ma inge, kowos nukewa! Porongo, kowos mwet in acn nukewa —
For the choirmaster. A Psalm of the sons of Korah. Hear this, all you peoples; listen, all inhabitants of the world,
2 Mwet fulat ac mwet srisrik oana sie, Mwet kasrup ac oayapa mwet sukasrup.
both low and high, rich and poor alike.
3 Nunak luk ac fah kalem; Nga ac fah kaskas ke kas in lalmwetmet.
My mouth will impart wisdom, and the meditation of my heart will bring understanding.
4 Nga fah nunku ke soakas uh, Ac aketeya kalmac ke nga srital ke harp uh.
I will incline my ear to a proverb; I will express my riddle with the harp:
5 Nga tia sangeng in pacl in ongoiya Ke mwet lokoalok elos rauniyula,
Why should I fear in times of trouble, when wicked usurpers surround me?
6 Ku ke mwet koluk, su lulalfongi na ke mwe kasrup lalos, Elos ac konkin ke ma puspis lalos.
They trust in their wealth and boast in their great riches.
7 Sie mwet tia ku in sifacna molella; El tia ku in moli nu sin God ke moul lal,
No man can possibly redeem his brother or pay his ransom to God.
8 Mweyen molin moul lun sie mwet arulana yokla. Ma el ac sang moli an tia ku in fal
For the redemption of his soul is costly, and never can payment suffice,
9 In sang molella liki misa, Tuh elan ku in moul nwe tok.
that he should live on forever and not see decay.
10 Mwet nukewa ku in liye pac lah finne mwet lalmwetmet, elos ac misa pac, Oapana mwet lalfon ac mwet lofong. Elos nukewa ac misa ac filiya mwe kasrup lalos nu sin fwilin tulik natulos.
For it is clear that wise men die, and the foolish and the senseless both perish and leave their wealth to others.
11 Kulyuk lalos pa lohm selos nu tok ma pahtpat; Pa ingan nien muta lalos nwe tok, Finne tuh oasr acn lalos sifacna meet.
Their graves are their eternal homes— their dwellings for endless generations— even though their lands were their namesakes.
12 Fulat lun sie mwet tia ku in sruokilya liki misa; El ac misa pacna, oana ma orakrak nukewa.
But a man, despite his wealth, cannot endure; he is like the beasts that perish.
13 Liye ma sikyak nu selos su lulalfongi kaclos sifacna, Liye saflaiyalos su pwayekin mwe kasrup lalos —
This is the fate of the self-confident and their followers who endorse their sayings.
14 Elos ac misa pac oana sheep uh, Na Misa pa ac fah shepherd lalos. Mwet suwoswos elos fah kutangulosla, Ke manolos sa na kulawi In facl lun mwet misa, loesla liki acn selos. (Sheol h7585)
Like sheep they are destined for Sheol. Death will be their shepherd. The upright will rule them in the morning, and their form will decay in Sheol, far from their lofty abode. (Sheol h7585)
15 Tusruktu God El ac fah moliyula; El fah moliyula liki ku lun misa. (Sheol h7585)
But God will redeem my life from Sheol, for He will surely take me to Himself. (Sheol h7585)
16 Nik kom supwarla sie mwet el fin kasrupi, Ku mwe kasrup lal fin yokelik na;
Do not be amazed when a man grows rich, when the splendor of his house increases.
17 El tia ku in us ma ingan ke el misa; Mwe kasrup lal tia ku in welul.
For when he dies, he will carry nothing away; his abundance will not follow him down.
18 Mwet se finne insewowo in moul lal pacl inge, Ac kaksakinyuk el ke sripen el mwet eteyuk se,
Though in his lifetime he blesses his soul— and men praise you when you prosper—
19 El ac fah weang pacna mwet matu lal su misa meet, Ac som nu in acn lohsr ma pahtpat.
he will join the generation of his fathers, who will never see the light of day.
20 Fulat lun sie mwet tia ku in sruokilya liki misa; El ac nuna misa pacna, oana ma orakrak nukewa.
A man who has riches without understanding is like the beasts that perish.
