< Soakas 28 >
1 Mwet koluk uh kaing finne wangin mwet ukwalos, a sie mwet suwoswos el pulaik oana soko lion.
The wicked flee when no one pursues; but the righteous are as bold as a lion.
2 Sie mutunfacl fah arulana ku ac oan paht mwet kol we uh fin mwet etauk ac lalmwetmet. A sie mutunfacl fin oru ma koluk, ac fah fusus ayaol lun mwet leum we.
In rebellion, a land has many rulers, but order is maintained by a man of understanding and knowledge.
3 Sie mwet leum su akkeokye mwet sukasrup, ac oana af matol ma kunausla fokin ima uh.
A needy man who oppresses the poor is like a driving rain which leaves no crops.
4 Kom fin pilesru ma sap, kom akkeye layen lun mwet koluk; a kom fin akos, na kom lain mwet koluk.
Those who forsake the law praise the wicked; but those who keep the law contend with them.
5 Mwet koluk tia etu lah mea suwohs ac nununku suwohs, a elos su suk ma lungse lun LEUM GOD elos kalem kac.
Evil men don’t understand justice; but those who seek the LORD understand it fully.
6 Wo in sukasrup ac suwohs, liki na in kasrup ac sesuwos.
Better is the poor who walks in his integrity than he who is perverse in his ways, and he is rich.
7 Sie mwet fusr su akos ma sap el lalmwetmet. El su asruoki nu sin mwet pukafukwel, el akmwekinye papa tumal.
Whoever keeps the law is a wise son; but he who is a companion of gluttons shames his father.
8 Kom fin akkasrupye kom sifacna ke ma laesla yohk ma kom eisla sin mwet, na mwe kasrup lom an ac fah ma lun mwet su kulang nu sin mwet sukasrup.
He who increases his wealth by excessive interest gathers it for one who has pity on the poor.
9 Kom fin tia akos ma sap uh, God El ac fah arulana srunga in lohng pre lom.
He who turns away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer is an abomination.
10 Kom fin kiapwela sie mwet suwoswos in oru ma koluk, kom ac fah putatyang nu in mwe kwasrip lom sifacna. Mwet wangin mwata ac fah oasr ma lacna nu sel.
Whoever causes the upright to go astray in an evil way, he will fall into his own trap; but the blameless will inherit good.
11 Mwet kasrup uh sifacna nunku mu elos lalmwetmet, a sie mwet sukasrup su oasr etauk yoro el akilen lah elos tiana lalmwetmet.
The rich man is wise in his own eyes; but the poor who has understanding sees through him.
12 Ke pacl sie mwet wo el kol, na mwet nukewa elos engan, a ke mwet koluk uh kol, mwet uh ac wikelik.
When the righteous triumph, there is great glory; but when the wicked rise, men hide themselves.
13 Kom fin okanla ma koluk lom, kom tia ku in kapkapak. Kom fin fahkak ma koluk lom ac forla liki, na God El ac fah pakoten nu sum.
He who conceals his sins doesn’t prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy.
14 Insewowo mwet se su sensenkakunul liki ma koluk. Kom fin likkeke, kom ac musalla.
Blessed is the man who always fears; but one who hardens his heart falls into trouble.
15 Sie mwet leum koluk el mwe sensen nu sin mwet sukasrup, oana soko lion ngutngut, ku soko bear ma forfor in sukok ma elan kang.
As a roaring lion or a charging bear, so is a wicked ruler over helpless people.
16 Sie leum su wangin etauk yoro fah arulana akupaye kemkatu lun mwet lal. A el su srunga eis ma laesla ke inkanek kutasrik ac fah leum paht.
A tyrannical ruler lacks judgement. One who hates ill-gotten gain will have long days.
17 Sie mwet su oasr mwata ke akmas el sifacna pikin lufin misa kial. Nimet srike in ikolol.
A man who is tormented by blood guilt will be a fugitive until death. No one will support him.
18 Oru ma suwohs ac pwaye, ac kom ac fah muta in misla. Kom fin oru ma sesuwos, kom ac sa na ikori.
Whoever walks blamelessly is kept safe; but one with perverse ways will fall suddenly.
19 Sie mwet ima alken ac fah oasr sunun mwe mongo yorol, a sie mwet sisi pacl el ac sukasrup pacl nukewa.
One who works his land will have an abundance of food; but one who chases fantasies will have his fill of poverty.
20 Mwet su moul suwohs ac fah insewowo in moul lalos. Tusruktu kom fin sulaklak in suk mwe kasrup, kom ac fah sun kai.
A faithful man is rich with blessings; but one who is eager to be rich will not go unpunished.
21 Tia wo in wiwimwet. Tusruktu kutu mwet nununku uh elos oru ma sesuwos tuh elos in eis molin eyeinse na srisrik.
To show partiality is not good, yet a man will do wrong for a piece of bread.
22 Mwet srowohsr elos arulana sulaklak in kasrupi, oru elos tia akilen lah elos ac sa na sukasrupla.
A stingy man hurries after riches, and doesn’t know that poverty waits for him.
23 Sang kas in aksuwos nu sin sie mwet, ac tok el fah insewowo sum liki na ke kom aklukukyal.
One who rebukes a man will afterward find more favour than one who flatters with the tongue.
24 Sie mwet su kiapu papa ac nina kial, ac pangon mu tia koluk, el oana mwet pisrapasr na pwaye.
Whoever robs his father or his mother and says, “It’s not wrong,” is a partner with a destroyer.
25 Rapku pwanak lokoalok pacl nukewa. Ac wo nu sum kom in filiya lulalfongi lom in LEUM GOD.
One who is greedy stirs up strife; but one who trusts in the LORD will prosper.
26 Ma lalfon se kom fin lulalfongi nunak lom sifacna. Kom in fahsr tukun kas in luti lun mwet lalmwetmet na kom ac fah moul misla.
One who trusts in himself is a fool; but one who walks in wisdom is kept safe.
27 Sang kasru nu sin mwet sukasrup ac kom ac fah tiana kwacola. Kom fin kaliya motom liki mwet enenu, mwet puspis ac fah selngawi kom.
One who gives to the poor has no lack; but one who closes his eyes will have many curses.
28 Ke pacl mwet koluk tuyak in kol, mwet uh ac wikelik. Na ke pacl elos tila kol, mwet suwoswos puspis ac sifil folokeni.
When the wicked rise, men hide themselves; but when they perish, the righteous thrive.
