My son, if thou receivest my words, and layest up my commandments with thee,

yea, if thou criest after discernment [and] liftest up thy voice to understanding;
4 Suk aklohya, in oana ke kom ac suk silver ku kutu ma saok su oan wikla.
if thou seekest her as silver and searchest for her as for hidden treasures:
5 Kom fin oru ouinge na kom fah etu lah mea kalmen sangeng sin LEUM GOD, ac konauk in etu ke God.
then shalt thou understand the fear of Jehovah, and find the knowledge of God.
6 LEUM GOD pa ase lalmwetmet; etauk ac kalem tuku sel me.
For Jehovah giveth wisdom; out of his mouth [come] knowledge and understanding.
7 El sang kasru nu sin mwet suwohs, ac El karinganang mwet moul pwaye.
He layeth up sound wisdom for the upright; [he] is a shield to them that walk in integrity;
8 El karinganulos su oru wo nu sin mwet ngia, ac taranulos su inse pwaye nu sel.
guarding the paths of just judgment and keeping the way of his godly ones.
9 Kom fin porongeyu, kom ac etu ma pwaye, suwohs, ac wo. Na kom ac etu lah mea fal kom in oru.
Then shalt thou understand righteousness and judgment and equity: every good path.
10 Kom ac lalmwetmet, ac etauk lom ac fah mwe insewowo nu sum.
When wisdom entereth into thy heart and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul,
11 Liyaten ac kalem lom ac loangekom —
discretion shall keep thee, understanding shall preserve thee:
12 ac sruokkomi kom in tia oru ma sutuu. Ma inge ac fah srikomla liki mwet su purakak lokoalok ke kas lalos —
To deliver thee from the way of evil, from the man that speaketh froward things;
13 mwet su fahsr liki moul suwohs, ac som nu ke moul in lohsr,
[from those] who leave the paths of uprightness, to walk in the ways of darkness;
14 mwet su engan in oru ma koluk, ac insewowokin moul lusrongten ac sesuwos,
who rejoice to do evil, [and] delight in the frowardness of evil;
15 mwet kutasrik su tia ku in lulalfongiyuk.
whose paths are crooked, and who are perverted in their course:
16 Kom ac fah ku in kaingkunla kutena mutan koluk su ac srike in srife kom ke kas emwem lal,
To deliver thee from the strange woman, from the stranger who flattereth with her words;
17 su tia pwaye nu sin mukul tumal, ac tia esam wuleang el oru ye mutun God.
who forsaketh the guide of her youth, and forgetteth the covenant of her God;
18 Kom fin som nu lohm sel, kom fahsr nu ke inkanek in misa. Kom fin som nu we, kom suwoswos nu ke facl sin misa.
— for her house inclineth unto death, and her paths unto the dead;
19 Wangin sie mwet su utyak nu yorol nu foloko. El tiana foloko nu ke inkanek in moul.
none that go unto her return again, neither do they attain to the paths of life:
20 Ouinge kom in etai moul lun mwet wo, ac moulkin moul suwoswos.
— that thou mayest walk in the way of the good, and keep the paths of the righteous.
21 Mwet suwoswos — elos su pwaye in ma nukewa — ac fah muta in facl sesr uh.
For the upright shall dwell in the land, and the perfect shall remain in it;
22 Tuh God El ac tulakunla mwet koluk uh liki acn uh, ac fusulosyak su orekma koluk.
but the wicked shall be cut off from the land, and the unfaithful shall be plucked up out of it.
