< Soakas 17 >

1 Wo in kang bread mahi ke inse misla, liki na in wi kufwa in sie lohm ma oasr akukuin we.
Better is a dry morsel and quietness therewith, than an house full of feasting with strife.
2 Sie mwet kulansap su oaru ac lalmwetmet fah fulat liki sie wen sununta nutin mwet kacto lal, ouinge el ac wi usrui ma lun tulik nutin mwet kacto lal.
A servant that dealeth wisely shall have rule over a son that causeth shame, and shall have part in the inheritance among the brethren.
3 Gold ac silver uh srikeyuk ke e, ac insien mwet uh srikeyuk sin LEUM GOD.
The fining pot is for silver, and the furnace for gold: but the LORD trieth the hearts.
4 Mwet koluk uh lohang nu ke nunak koluk, ac mwet kikiap lungse lohng kas kikiap.
An evil-doer giveth heed to wicked lips; [and] a liar giveth ear to a mischievous tongue.
5 Kom fin aksruksruki mwet sukasrup, kom aklusrongtenye God su oralosla. Ac fah kaiyuk kom, kom fin engankin ongoiya lun mwet ngia.
Whoso mocketh the poor reproacheth his Maker: [and] he that is glad at calamity shall not be unpunished.
6 Mwet matu uh engankin tulik nutin tulik natulos, oapana ke tulik uh engankin papa tumalos.
Children’s children are the crown of old men; and the glory of children are their fathers.
7 Sufal mwet leum in fahk kas kikiap, oayapa kas wo tia tuku sin sie mwet lalfon.
Excellent speech becometh not a fool: much less do lying lips a prince.
8 Kutu mwet uh nunku mu eyeinse uh oana mwenmen. Elos lulalfongi mu ku in sang ma nukewa nu selos.
A gift is [as] a precious stone in the eyes of him that hath it: whithersoever it turneth, it prospereth.
9 Kom fin lungse mwet in lungse kom, kom nunak munas nu selos ke ma koluk elos oru nu sum. Kom fin sikalani in sramsramkin, ac ku in kunauselik inmasrlon sie kawuk.
He that covereth a transgression seeketh love: but he that harpeth on a matter separateth chief friends.
10 Kas in kaiyuk sefanna ku in aksuwosyela sie mwet lalmwetmet, a sringsring siofok tia ku in aksuwosyela sie mwet lalfon.
A rebuke entereth deeper into one that hath understanding than an hundred stripes into a fool.
11 Mwet koluk elos purakak akukuin pacl nukewa, na ac fah supweyukla sie mwet roso sulallal in lainulos.
An evil man seeketh only rebellion; therefore a cruel messenger shall be sent against him.
12 Kom fin osun nu sin soko bear ma pisrapasrla natu natul, ac srik sensen lom liki kom fin osun nu sin sie mwet lalfon kafofo ke orekma lusrongten lal.
Let a bear robbed of her whelps meet a man, rather than a fool in his folly.
13 Kom fin eis ma wo ac folokin ke ma koluk, ma koluk fah tia ku in wanginla liki lohm sum.
Whoso rewardeth evil for good, evil shall not depart from his house.
14 Mutaweyen sie akukuin oana ke sie dam tufahna srasrelik, ke ma inge tulokinya akukuin sac meet liki ac yokelik.
The beginning of strife is [as] when one letteth out water: therefore leave off contention, before there be quarrelling.
15 Aksukosokye sie mwet koluk, ku kapriya sie mwet wangin mwata — lumah luo inge kewa srungayuk sin LEUM GOD.
He that justifieth the wicked, and he that condemneth the righteous, both of them alike are an abomination to the LORD.
16 Wangin sripa sie mwet lalfon in sisla mani nu ke lutlut, mweyen wangin etauk sel.
Wherefore is there a price in the hand of a fool to buy wisdom, seeing he hath no understanding?
17 Mwet kawuk uh akkalemye lungse lalos pacl nukewa. Ma kunen sou uh in akasrui ke pacl upa.
A friend loveth at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.
18 Mwet na wangin nunak la pa ac orek wulela in akfalye soemoul lun siena mwet.
A man void of understanding striketh hands, and becometh surety in the presence of his neighbour.
19 Mwet su lungse ma koluk elos lungse orek lokoalok. Kom fin konkin mwe kasrup lom pacl nukewa, kom purakak lokoalok.
He loveth transgression that loveth strife: he that raiseth high his gate seeketh destruction.
20 Elos su nunak koluk ac kaskas koluk, ac fah wangin ma wo nu selos, a ongoiya mukena.
He that hath a froward heart findeth no good: and he that hath a perverse tongue falleth into mischief.
21 Mwe na asor ac toasr nu sin sie papa ma tulik natul uh oru ma lalfon.
He that begetteth a fool [doeth it] to his sorrow: and the father of a fool hath no joy.
22 Inse engan mwe akkeye monum. A el su kwacna inse toasr, fah akmunasye manol.
A merry heart is a good medicine: but a broken spirit drieth up the bones.
23 Mwet nununku sesuwos elos eis mwe eyeinse in lukma. Ke ouinge uh nununku suwohs tiana orekla.
A wicked man taketh a gift out of the bosom, to pervert the ways of judgment.
24 Mwet lalkung elos sulela in akwot nu ke soko inkanek lalmwetmet, a mwet lalfon uh takusrkusr ke inkanek puspis.
Wisdom is before the face of him that hath understanding: but the eyes of a fool are in the ends of the earth.
25 Sie tulik lalfon el mwe toasr nu sin papa tumal, ac akmwenye insien nina kiyal.
A foolish son is a grief to his father, and bitterness to her that bare him.
26 Tia wo in sang kaiyuk nu sin mwet wangin mwata, ku kalyeiyuk mwet oru ma pwaye. Fin ouinge, nununku uh kihla.
Also to punish the righteous is not good, [nor] to smite the noble for [their] uprightness.
27 Mwet lalmwetmet na pwaye elos tia oalinkas. Mwet ma muta misla pa liyaten uh.
He that spareth his words hath knowledge: and he that is of a cool spirit is a man of understanding.
28 Sie mwet lalfon fin muta misla ac tia sramsram, ku in nunkeyuk mu el lalmwetmet.
Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise: when he shutteth his lips, he is [esteemed as] prudent.
