< Soakas 16 >
1 Kut ku in oru pwapa lasr, tusruktu kas safla kac uh ma lun God.
2 Kom ac nunku mu ma nukewa kom oru uh suwohs, tuh LEUM GOD El liye nunak lun insiom.
All the works of the humble [man] are manifest with God; but the ungodly shall perish in an evil day.
3 Siyuk LEUM GOD Elan akinsewowoye pwapa lom, na kom ac fah ku in orala.
4 Ma nukewa LEUM GOD El orala ac oasr saflaiya; na saflaiyen mwet koluk uh pa in sikiyukla.
5 LEUM GOD El srunga mwet nukewa su filang. El ac fah tia lela elos in kaingkunla mwe kaiyuk nu selos.
Every one that is proud in heart is unclean before God, and he that unjustly strikes hands with hand shall not be held guiltless. The beginning of a good way is to do justly; and it is more acceptable with God than to offer sacrifices. He that seeks the Lord shall find knowledge with righteousness: and they that rightly seek him shall find peace. All of the works of the Lord [are done] with righteousness; and the ungodly [man] is kept for the evil day.
6 Kom in oaru ac inse pwaye, ac God El fah nunak munas ke ma koluk lom. Alfulatye LEUM GOD na wangin ma koluk ac fah sikyak nu sum.
7 Pacl kom akinsewowoye LEUM GOD, mwet lokoalok lom uh ac ekla mwet kawuk lom.
8 Kom fin eis srik ke inkanek suwohs, wo liki ke kom eis yohk ke inkanek sesuwos.
9 Kom ku in lumahla ma kom ac oru, a God pa ac oakiya inkanek lom.
10 Tokosra el kaskas ke ku sin God me; na sulela lal pwaye pacl nukewa.
[There is] an oracle upon the lips of a king; and his mouth shall not err in judgement.
11 LEUM GOD El lungse tuh mwe paun ac mwe srikasrak nukewa in suwohs, ac molin mwe kuka in fal.
The poise of the balance is righteousness with the Lord; and his works are righteous measures.
12 Tokosra elos tia ku in lela ma koluk in orek, mweyen nununku suwohs pa oru sie mutunfacl in ku.
An evil-doer is an abomination to a king; for the throne of rule is established by righteousness.
13 Sie tokosra el lungse lohng ma pwaye, ac el insewowo selos su kaskas suwohs.
Righteous lips are acceptable to a king; and he loves right words.
14 Mwet lalmwetmet elos srike in akenganye tokosra, mweyen el fin kasrkusrakak, ac ku in oasr mwet misa.
The anger of a king is a messenger of death; but a wise man will pacify him.
15 Sie tokosra fin insewowo sum, ac mwe insewowo nu ke moul lom; oana ke pukunyeng use af ke pacl mut.
The son of a king is in the light of life; and they that are in favour with him are as a cloud of latter rain.
16 Arulana wo in oasr lalmwetmet ac etauk, liki in oasr gold ac silver.
The brood of wisdom is more to be chosen than gold, and the brood of prudence more to be chosen than silver.
17 Mwet wo elos fufahsryesr ke soko inkanek ma ac tia kololos nu ke ma koluk; ouinge karinganang acn kom fahsr nu we — mweyen ac ku in molela moul lom.
The paths of life turn aside from evil; and the ways of righteousness are length of life. He that receives instruction shall be in prosperity; and he that regards reproofs shall be made wise. He that keeps his ways, preserves his own soul; and he that loves his life will spare his mouth.
18 Inse fulat ac kol nu ke ongoiya lulap, ac mwet filang elos ac ikori.
Pride goes before destruction, and folly before a fall.
19 Wo kom in inse pusisel ac sukasrup, liki na kom in weang mwet inse fulat ac ipeis ke ma wap ma elos pisrala.
Better is a meek-spirited [man] with lowliness, than one who divides spoils with the proud.
20 Lohang nu ke ma lutiyuk kom kac, na kom ac fah eis moul wo ouiya. Lulalfongi in LEUM GOD ac kom ac fah engan.
[He who is] skilful in business finds good: but he that trusts in God is most blessed.
21 Sie mwet lalmwetmet akilenyuk ke etauk lal. Fin wo kas in luti lal, mwet uh ac insewowo in lutlut sel.
[Men] call the wise and understanding evil: but they that are pleasing in speech shall hear more.
22 Etauk el sie unon lun moul nu selos su lalmwetmet, a kom fin srike in luti mwet lalfon, kom sisla pacl lom ke wangin.
Understanding is a fountain of life to its possessors; but the instruction of fools is evil.
23 Mwet lalmwetmet elos nunkala mau meet liki elos kaskas; na ma elos fahk uh mwet uh engan in lohng.
The heart of the wise will discern the [things which proceed] from his own mouth; and on his lips he will wear knowledge.
24 Kas kulang uh emwem oana honey — wo emah, ac wo pac nu ke mano.
Good words are honeycombs, and the sweetness thereof is a healing of the soul.
25 Inkanek soko ma kom nunku mu pwaya uh, sahp ac kolkomla nu ke misa.
There are ways that seem to be right to a man, but the end of them looks to the depth of hell. ()
26 Masrinsral lun sie mwet ac oru el orekma upa, tuh in ku in oasr mwe mongo nal.
A man who labours, labours for himself, and drives from [him] his own ruin.
27 Mwet koluk elos suk inkanek in aklokoalokye mwet. Kas lalos uh firirrir oana e.
But the perverse bears destruction upon his own mouth: a foolish man digs up evil for himself, and treasures fire on his own lips.
28 Lesrik uh srumunyukelik sin mwet koluk. Elos purakak lokoalok ac kunausla inmasrlon kawuk uh.
A perverse man spreads mischief, and will kindle a torch of deceit with mischiefs; and he separates friends.
29 Mwet sulallal elos kiapwela mwet kawuk lalos, ac kololosla nu ke mwe ongoiya.
A transgressor tries [to ensnare] friends, and leads them in ways [that are] not good.
30 Taran mwet su kotmwet nu sum ac kikiap in israsr, mweyen oasr ma koluk elos akoo.
And the man that fixes his eyes devises perverse things, and marks out with his lips all evil: he is a furnace of wickedness.
31 Lacnen suwoswos pa moul loeleos, ac aunsuf fiaya el oana sie tefuro wolana.
Old age is a crown of honour, but it is found in the ways of righteousness.
32 Mongfisrasr wo liki orek ku. Sifacna leum fom, wo liki in leumi siti puspis.
A man slow to anger is better than a strong [man]; and he that governs [his] temper better than he that takes a city.
33 Mwet uh susfa in konauk ma lungse lun God, tusruktu God pa sulela top nu kac.
All [evils] come upon the ungodly into [their] bosoms; but all righteous things [come] of the Lord.
